Sitting here waiting out the warm up & wondering what you have heard for 2013 snowmobile line ups? My thinking is Skidoo will release a new platform in 2013 & is over due since 2008 XP is old in tooth & is very good but others caught up.

skidoo has been on a 5 yr chassis relase lately so they gotta be over due. Polaris will probably keep the rush going but a new 600 or 800 motor is rumored to be coming....cat, well idk about cat they have their own issues and yami? do they still make sleds? ;) hahaaha

I think poo pro ride is hear to stay for awhile at least in 2s but way over due on new 4s platform. Agree doo must have something new in 2013. Cat all set with procross & proclimb & will tweak. Yam lots of talk about clean sheet new platform at least that is what their base wants.

I heard nothing about poo 4s. In fact I heard they aren't going to change anything about it. I did hear from the Supertrax guy at Novi that poo had a sled that they sampled and thought it was a 700 but was a 600. I think he said a 2 injector instead of 4.

The emissions bull that everyone was talking about for 2012 is just that; bull. There are no changes for standards and won't be for a while.

Just my opinion, but I think Ski-Doo should work on having a trouble free, rock solid big bore motor before worrying about a new chassis to shove it in.

The way this seasons going, who says they're even going to build '13. Might as well keep on building 4 wheelers.

nah ski doos fine...like the '11 800 etechs that are all blowing up and nobody blows that out of porportion but when poo had issues in '09 it was a national crisis! lol Lets hope mfgs work on making longer lasting engines...seems to be the biggest issues in recent years. i vote go back to carbs!

That is the 600 motor that is in the 2012 600 RMK. Only the RMK 6 has this 2 injector motor.

What's wrong with the 800's? I've got the HO and Powertech in my Renny and Summit. Never had an issue with either powerplant. In terms of the ETech - the 600 has been near flawless, and yes, there were a few who had issues with their first year release 800 etechs, but what do you expect out of a first year engine? (I know everyone would like it dialed in right off the bat, but first year anything is somewhat of a risk in my opinion.)

You are in the minority. From 04 thru the current 800etec's they have had many different issues causing burn downs. Reed cage delamination, cylinder walls chipping, crank and bearing issues, piston and ring issues, you name it there have been problems with it in the doo 800's.
I am a die hard Ski-Doo rider owning both the 1000's and 800's in the past but have shied away from their big engines, preferring the 600's that I can run 10-12000 miles without issues. I like to ride miles and need reliability..

If I was the minority, then Doo would have some pretty massive PR issues along with lawsuits. I guarantee there are/were far more without issues than with. Cranks / Rings were all early models. I think you meant to say boot delamination rather than reed cage, but again...., that was an early model, and not part of the powerplant itself. Haven't seen/heard much about chipping cylindar walls or the actual pistons - but, that would be a direct result of the (early on) failure of the rings (and or) pin failure that would cause piston/cylindar damage. All in all, your really looking at some early issues with Rings (2003-2004), and a few crank issues here and there. (Not a mass exodus). The others you mention are either not part of the powerplant itself, or a direct result of the above mentioned issue. Other than that, the HO and Powertech's have been pretty rock solid, for what you can expect out of a carbed 800. And if your looking to get 10 to 12000 miles out of an engine, your probably right. The 800 might not be the best choice, but I would say that across the board of the other manufacturers as well.

P.S - Sorry for getting off track. I've heard rumors that 2014 is the year for doo's new release.

Go look at the used 800 doo's for sale right here on this site. I counted 7 for sale on the first page and 4 had to be rebuilt with less than 5000 miles. They range from 2006 to 2009 models. They must have all just gotten bad gas..
Oh, and why are all the first run 800etec's getting new top ends? Nothing suspect there either...
I'm not bashing Doo, its all I ride but they need to get this stuff figured out before they put it out..

I have a felling you will see at least 2 new motors from ski-doo so if undecided about a 1200 4 stroke maybe you want to wait alittle longer :)
