I have no facts or studies to provide but I believe it comes down to the 4s having a capacity of oil lubrication system and a 4 stroke in a sense working not as hard to produce relative same power. It seems 4 strokes can handle inferior fuels easier and less risk of burn down. 1 fuel mixture burn pr revolution of the crankshaft produces more power than a 4s but also more force the engine handles.

Okay. I can understand that. I've seen snowmobilers have just as many problems with 4s. I think more 2s break down simply because there are more of them.

Not sure why you guys are so adamant about this. Do you have any actual facts or studies that can prove this? I've heard this for years yet I've personally heard about as many 4s problems as 2s.

I can show you a Yami 4s with 60,000 miles. That's a fact. Show me a 600 2s with the same. There is no way the Yami 4s motors can be compared to any 2s when it comes to reliability. I'm not bashing the Polaris 600, I ride one. Just sayin...

X2 & Lenny gave design reasons just foolish to compare 120 2s engines to 120 4s any brand. 4s is a better mousetrap by design for reliability. Case closed not worth discussing.... 2s are what they are if you like them use them but will never last as long as a 4s.:) I do think Poo 600 is a good 2s engine when compared to other OEM 2s 600s & poo always been good with 600 2s. Poo 800 not for me in current design form but getting better each year & that is what op wants to know.:)

One concern I have with the newer 2 strokes is how the oil is tweaked down to a trickle. I am not sure if my math is right on this but I use only 8 ounces of oil to 4 gallons of gas. 64 to 1 is what I come up with. That is insane. I have a 4 stroke dodge hemi that burns oil at the same rate as my sled???? The 2s sleds are for epa reasons running to lean??? My plugs looked like new at 2300 miles. Power valves are clean too??? Guess those are upsides???

Meh, try 100:1 premix AmsOil. Did that for YEARS without an issue. I know, they have these new sleds leaned out for EPA reasons, so more oil is probably needed now with using less fuel.

The Mpg comment has to do with your warranty because I was referring to the fact that you would need those savings to help pay for that extended warranty.

Am I missing something here? You buy a new product and you expect problems to the point you need a warranty. I would think buying an extended warranty is not even a question when buying a new sled...at least for me it isn't. Maybe I'm the minority here

not sure what mpg has to do with warranty, but my '12 800 has over $11000 in warranty repairs

right now im ridin my 01 800 xcsp. things fun but im loving the new suspension they got goin on

Look at polaris switchback pro-r 600 124ish poines as much as your 01 800 xcsp that 800 was a pig. Buy 600 don't have worry about CFI 800 engine problems. 600 pretty good mpg as well....nice upgrade for you.

Beat the snot out of my 12 800 again today running 15% ethonal in the 91 octane gas at 10'000 feet. She won't blow. P.s. towed in a 09 summit 800r today. The secondary had enough. I will try again tomorrow to imployed or exployed. Riding with new XM's.

I was shocked to see the shoot out results from AM Snow...Polaris won both the 600, and 800 shoot out...even though the 800 polaris is less HP than the Doo or Cat 800.....the viper/cat was right there with the fast 600's in 1000 ft....they didn't test the nytro...but I suspect they would be faster than the viper /cat... the new exhaust, and cat's efi calibrations put the viper at 130 HP...which is where it is advertised at...it's more similar with the vector, than it is with the nytro (nytro dyno's range from 136-138 HP).

I have two friends with 2013 switchback rush's...I have not ridden them yet....but they LOVE them.....one is a 600...and it is an over achiver....it is faster than his 700 dragon switchback to 90 MPH!!!.....the 800 is also very quick....they both love the handling....the only thing they hate....is even with taller windshields...both guys said they are cold machines in colder weather.

You can pick on the 4 stokes for weight ...and sometimes handling...the engines are awesome (especially the yamaha's)....I had nearly 14,000 miles on my attak...the engine was flawless...however...bushings.. bearings, and other basic maintnance items are no different than any other sled....having owned all 4 brands over the last 20 years...all of them have their glitches.....but...there is NO COMPARISON engine wise 4 strokes have far less maintenance....and run far more consistant than 2 strokes...I had ZERO worries with the engine in my attak...could not say the same about a few of my two strokes.
IMO...It's a trade off...you get more weight, but you gain reliability, and durability

No kidding I wouldn't even ride one without it turned up. If I bought one today and didn't have time to turn it up by this weekend, I would not be taking it anywhere to ride it... It's pretty easy bikeman has a good video.

Jut watched it, I removed the can, and that was it, no need to remove the upper air box, secondary clutch, belt cover etc etc.
