More Black Eyes on the Sport

True...but if we keep losing trails due to tresspassing...it's gonna hurt...and remember...snowmobiling is really a dying sport...the average age of a snowmobiler is 52...and getting older each year...utv/atv's though are exploding..especially with younger people

But remember how many issues you guys had up there getting atv and utv routes...it was like pulling teeth ....you guys had alot of "greenies" at those meetings that were against them

    Tomahawk trail update 2-9-23

Trails are holding there own...but it did get soft, and there are puddles in some areas from the warm temps....for the most part trails are fair to good. The better riding as usual is in the wooded areas....the railroad grades (Hiawatha, and Bearskin), are fair to poor in spots, and really took...

More Black Eyes on the Sport

Yep....keep riding off trail and keep putting loud cans on your sleds...we have several trails in our area too with unhappy land owners,...it will be an interesting off season up here, to say the least. What some people don't realize is that during Covid a lot of people moved up here (the...

    Tomahawk update for 2/1?

Trails looking really good....majority have all been groomed twice....and solid base...with the cold weather we were able to groom some problem swamps that were too soft to groom a couple weeks ago...TRAILS ARE GOOD TO VERY GOOD condition right now

Off trail riding on the local news

It's not the town...it's the landowner...it's been going on for a long time, and they've finally had enough...this one will hurt badly if it gets shut down....we have the same issue in the Tomahawk area, and I'm sure there will be at least threats to close a couple more (the club always goes and...

    Interesting Observation

I learned something new last year...there are destination places, such as Tomahawk, Minocqua, St Germain, Eagle River etc...and you see tons of sleds everywhere all weekend...but places like Mountain, Lakewood, Carter and Wabeno are just starting points...you see tons of sleds all day (most...

Off trail riding on the local news

Yes...there are some asshat locals too...I did corner a 40 something year old with an obnoxiously loud sled..I told him to park his sled until he put a stock exhaust back on...he told me to go eff myself, and we nearly came to blows...he left, and 4 days later, the dnr nailed him...loud pipes...

    Tomahawk Area 1/24/23

Btw...we had a dusting of snow yesterday and we got another 1 1/2 tonight...every little bit counts...but the trails right now are awesome (I didn't want to stop riding tonight...but ugh..work tomorrow)

Off trail riding on the local news

That's cool that u don't run a can and run off trail...but you know damn well you've seen mountain sleds with cans up here...you are rare..the exception to the rule....its killing us up here...the amount of complaints and threats to close trails is real...we deal with it everyday...and some guys...

Off trail riding on the local news

Skyler...its different in the yoop...you probably have triple the snow we have...we are lucky to have a 3 to 5 inch base...studded sleds have NEVER been the problem down here...studded sleds grab traction and go...non studded sleds spin...and wipe the corners down to the ice and a deep lug...

Off trail riding on the local news

They are here, patrolling and writing tickets...but it's not to scare people, or harass rider's...it's a good thing...if you have a trail pass, stop at stop signs, stay on the trail, and don't have a loud can...you'll probably never see them

Off trail riding on the local news

I like the idea...but here in Lincoln and Oneida county ..its already a $1,000 dollar fine for a loud can, first offense (it's the officers discretion wether he nails you or not)...and honestly...we've had such problem with it here...that all three clubs are sick of fielding complaint calls from...

Off trail riding on the local news

Ask your self...how many of these sleds have loud cans on them? I haven't seen a single mountain/deep snow sled that didn't have a can on it...I get why they do it out west...but it is killing us here with land owners...and these guys do not care....also with a two inch lug and our groomed trail...

Off trail riding on the local news

We have a new DNR warden in Tomahawk, and he's writing tickets to Trespassers (no warnings)....he's also writing HUGE tickets for loud cans/pipes (no warnings)....which the area clubs back 100 percent Was told Wisconsin is looking at banning mountain/deep snow sleds (with deep lug, long...

    Tomahawk Area 1/24/23

The clubs are all out and grooming, and trails look really nice.....even with the heavy traffic over the weekend, trails held up nicely...found very few rough trails on our saturday afternoon /evening loop...was actually surprised how good they were with all the traffic...we did get a dusting to...

    Tomahawk Area 1/16/23

As mentioned above....MOST are marked (Alice, Nokomis, the Spirit, Oneida, Hancock).....there is little to no slush if u stay close to the markers...if u get off the trail...there can be slush, but it's not bad
