Trail 1 has been open all season on the west side of Lake Gogebic and has been the last couple of years

If you read the entire Gogebic Area grooming Facebook post....u cannot get to the southern part of the lake from Marinesco as 100 is closed. Also in that post it says that 13 is closed south of 100 to trail 2. Seems very confusing based on comments above.

From Gogebic Area Grooming Facebook page. All of trail 100 (between 1 and 13) is closed for logging. This means no access to the south end of lake gogebic. Also closed, is part of trail 13 south of lake gogebic down to trail 2. Well, that really s*$ks.

Gogebic Area grooming seems to neglect the area to the south from Lake Gogebic to Marinesco to the Wi border on Trail 1. That area seems to always be rough. Not sure why as they have a groomer housed in Marinesco, I believe. The GRTA and UP Thunder Riders do an awesome job.

click on GFS long range at top, then winter in left column, then total snow accumulation kuchera in left column, then you slide the tab at the bottom for 16 day forecast. It's fun to look at, but I've found that it's way high on snow totals compared to what really happens.

I've heard that trails in PI will be opening on Thursday. I've also heard that all of Vilas county does not have to open at the same time. For what it's worth.

I think "she" wants it for housing/apartments as you mentioned in earlier post.

So many places in that area are no more.....Skyview, Carlin Lake Lodge, Bear Bar (Winchester), Headwaters (Winchester). All were great places.

I've heard similar things that rph130 mentions. Heard the bar/restaurant was in poor condition (water damage, etc) and likely would need to be razed. A prominent person that's very involved in Manitowish Waters may be purchasing.....

I don't believe it's trail 2 this time. It's a short portion of trail 8 just east of the parknride on the south side of Sunday Lake near the VFW. From what I read it sounds like they'll get it resolved quickly.

I have the linq sport bag 17L. It's perfect, stores everything I need while on the trail - maps, folding saw, tow rope, extra gloves, tools, etc.

One of my favorite movies "Jeremiah Johnson" starring Robert Redford was loosely based on his times as a mountain man. I highly recommend it if you haven't seen it. The movie came out in 1972 and was directed by Sidney Pollack.

As stated above. Best to join a Wisconsin club, then trail passes are $10 going through the AWSC website (print receipt to used until passes/stickers are mailed to you)

This is the latest forecasted snow accumulation through Sunday January 14. Looks like the southern 2/3 of Wisconsin, all of lower Michigan, eastern UP, and northern Illinois may be looking good.

Vilas is always hit or miss for trails being open and/or any good Christmas to New Years week, especially the lakes.
