Ace 900 Turbo

Guys are starting to get punchy on this thread, must be having withdrawal symptoms from a beautiful season, I know I am.
I had a hard time knowing I didn't own a sled once the weather warmed up on the 8th. It drove me nuts thinking a storm could still assemble in the coming weeks, well now we know that was a dream..onto thinking about a snow-check?

Not sure what old abe meant by " I'll save a space for ya," but if yur analyzing my every word you should have also read the quote I replied to....and I'm sure you did....

my 2 other sleds are 800 2 strokes at 160 hp NA and 100 >pounds< lighter than the 900 turbo this thread is about.....what is so hard to comprehend?...don't need a turbo and all the extra crap that goes with it to get a 160 hp sled on the snow.

I'm just trying to interpret your comments...do you like the "PS" (assuming Power steering) Apex or not? Do you like 4S engines or not. That's all. Yes, they weigh more, I think we have established that. But you like the pull, not sure who wouldn't. Or are you ripping 4S apex and mocking people who say they like the pull. The pull comes with a price...weight and some extra parts. I get that. I'm not judging you just trying to figure out what you are trying to say. Maybe it's my inability to understand your message and if so, I apologize.

As far as the 900T engine and the renegade...I have two Apex XTX's and spent some time on the 900T enduro this season and I will tell you if I had to upgrade I would head over to the Doo 900T. I have been with Yamaha since 1983. That's a long time. the current never ending Viper/sidewinder only lineup doesn't appeal to me and I get that it does appeal to others. Great, but not me. I was very impressed with the rear skid on the enduro. I upgraded one of my XTX's to elka shocks mid year this year and it did make an improvement to my ride vs stock but couldn't touch the enduro ride.

Sorry I veered off course a little but wanted to get a clarification from you and make a point.

FYI; A couple mega-deals on leftover 900T's (regular and an "X") at Prime in Shawano, ask for Chris.

After test running a SW, ProS and Gen 4 Turdo... I believe my second choice would have been the Pro S as the SW was like Wrestling a wet Rhino thru the twisties... The ProS would have me squinting as I squeezed the flipper on the long grade or Gogoagibic runs... So a few extra parts to keep it from pop'n is good for me....

About 6000 miles on my 3 - 4 stroke Sleds this winter and my Doo Dealer feels like the Maytag repairman. The parts guy applied for a Job at the Polaris Dealer.

Thanks for the heads up! I'm going get a season or two more out of my Apex. I still love that sled and there isn't anything wrong with it, but the ride on the Enduro was fantastic.

I don't quite understand the apparent humor here....so Maytag's never breakdown, or is it the other way around? Please elaborate.

I'm very surprised that WD has left Yamaha! It says a ton if Yamaha is losing customers like him.

I wonder the same Mark.... if the Viper and Sidewinders don’t appeal and your time to purchase a new sled the only other 4s OEM is skidoo and no one competes with doo at the 150 hp 4s so to be honest it was easy to get focus on the 900t. Only choice was which Renegade was best for me and in my case it was the Enduro. Dfattack was with me all the way thru the decision process and he liked the Enduro 900t too. In my mind Yamaha should have continued producing the Apex until they offered something new to replace that market niche. The 900t discussion with my Apex buds went like this. Yamaha has nothing for us so we will all have to move on in the near future from our Apex and the 900t Enduro is everything we want except eps. The Enduro with adjustable carbides steers easy enough so I bought. Barn of parts is getting lots of request for skidoo MPS and is considering the kit so I can always consider in the future. Lots on dootalk bought 900t that were Yamaha Apex owners so I’m not alone.

I think you made a good choice and will be very happy, just tough to see you leave Yamaha as much as you loved them. It would be like me leaving Poo. LOL I want to see all 4 OEM's stick around. You never know, they may have something new for you by the next trade cycle. :)

I just don’t know Mark what is happening with Textron and Yamaha? No new agreement announced AC only using the Turbo engine my 7000 buds not happy seeing the 3 cylinder NA dropped by AC. Apex and Vector discontinued no replacements. Dealers don’t know what will happen either so no warm fuzzies right now for Yamaha fans. Apex are getting long in the tooth lots of miles no replacement models so skidoo has offered a very good Apex replacement with the Enduro 900 turbo Yamaha has nothing. The 900t has been a very reliable first year engine doo has lots of experience with Ace engines the 900t was as good as a Yamaha first year engine very impressive. I’m very worried about where Yamaha is going in the next 2 years. I would hate to see them leave the snow business but doesn’t look good right now.

I'm in the camp that thinks Textron/AC will be producing their own, complete, 4 stroke engines, and sleds in the future. Thus balance, weight, and handling, designed CG's, in from the get go. Not a shoe horned fit/kit. It looks as they will follow Doo in using modular design, for multi applications/uses. This will be totally in house, design, engineered, and produced final product. Textron is spending lots of $$$ on producing their own engines. Both 2 stroke, and 4 stokes. Engine production capability was a large part of Textron acquiring AC, and Weber. They have many uses for this. Yamaha could have done this, but did not want to?

AC is no longer marketing the 7000 series Yama/Cat, (Viper), in 2020? Doing this even as Yamaha is marketing the 2020 improved performance Viper Yama/Cat. Strange? But there is a reason for this?

I can see it now, snowmobiles in camo green; Textron's favorite.

Yeah, I hear, and agree with what your saying fuji. Kind of like the colors available on some of the Doo's, Renegade, eh? Not for me! You brought back the memories of the armed service graphics of AC's some years back? I think John had one of those?

I have a 2019 900t Renegade XRS with the ice cobra track. Absolutely love this sled. 2,200 miles on it this season. All the "good" comments made by people above are true. I did a fair amount of riding in sub zero temps this year and never experienced what some said were cold feet or legs. To protect myself and other trail riders I never used sport mode (except when starting in the morning to let it warm up with a higher idle). Eco mode is great for loading/off loading on trailers.
Good rider position and the adjustable handle bar allows quick repositioning based on trail conditions. Fuel mileage had me using 0.5-1 gallon less than my buddy's Apex or Viper. Roughly 14-19 depending on conditions and throttle temperament. For me I want coil over shocks and this sled feels no bumps. My previous Viper XTX had air shocks and they are just not a good fit for me.
The only issue I had was a broken secondary spring (some sleds have had this). BRP replaced it and I changed to a more aggressive spring anyway.
For reference my other sled is a 2011 Gade 1200 with 9k flawless miles (ditched the 2015 Viper, too many issues).

Huh?

Never ride mine in anything other than sport mode. I did put it in standard mode once, but wasn't really paying attention and thought I was adjusting the heated seat. lol
