You make some good points. I do not anything about Chris Reed - just say him quoted on TY.com...

I think 2016 will make it all clear - if Yamaha doesn't have anything new then, it will really seem as if they are done making sleds independently. How old is that Apex/Vector chassis - about 10 years now?
I don't read Chris Reed just a waste of time once you take the time to particapte in his polls & years pass without any products you just don't invest the time anymore. TY members are always skybluing stuff that is unreasonable so I don't spend much time there just check in & out quickly. TY is VERY good for Tech info... ask a question & you will get a high quality answer.

The Apex was released in 2006 & was refined thru 2010. 2011 the Apex chassis evolved to SE,XTX & standard Apex models when eps was 1st introduced & has been refined thru 2015 much like the evolution of the doo XP thru 2015. Unless you follow Yamaha you would think the Apex is unchanged since 2006 since the appearance has not changed much mostly because the core customers like it a lot. Most rider comments about Apex & Vector on JD have been very positive over the years & they really are great sleds for trail riders. To me Yamaha does not know what to do next chassiswise just stuck.... AC has a clear chassis evolution in mind so AC is a perfect fit to add value to Yamaha snowmobile division. Yamaha is an engine company 1st so OEM agreement for engines with AC is a no brainer for Yamaha. For AC to give Yamaha chassis information like they have done is like giving the AC store away to Yamaha they have to be discussing acquisition as the most faverable outcome for AC. If Yamaha walks away from AC with what they have learned it would be very bad for AC & very risky for AC. AC would not break the bond they want to be part of Yamaha best result for them.

IMHO the biggest thing cat wanted and got from this deal was manufacture epa credits that they had to have or rush a motor that was not ready to market.
there current 4s has proven reliable and makes huge power if u want it to.
there new 600 limited time in market but no threads on blowing 600s.
from what I understand this is the last yr of the agreement with Suzuki for the 800. my guess is 1 more yr of consumer testing on the 600 and they will slap some big jugs on it and have a reliable epa compliant 800.
if Yamaha still wants cat to build some sleds for them they will but after next yr yammi will need cat way more than cat will need yammi.
