IMO.... Patent and copyright laws were made for a reason. When you copy someone else's idea or even really close to their idea, you get sued and the copier usually loses.
If you look back over the last 10 years, besides the rush rear suspension, all the revolutionary snowmobile ideas have come from the guys in yellow up in Canada. Its the truth, like it or not.
Cat looks to have something with this new 2012 chassis, but prior to this the last great thing cat did was the A arm front suspension back in the 90's... Which by law, no one got to copy until their patent ran out. Whats fair for cat's a arms should now be fair for doo's whatever..

can you please document this?

Its not a serious recall but its the first on the list I found... lol

WASHINGTON (AP) — Safety regulators issued a recall for some Arctic Cat snowmobiles Thursday because a headlight fuse could fail and possibly cause a crash.

The recall involves about 7,100 snowmobiles made by Thief River Falls, Minn.-based Arctic Cat Inc. and sold at company dealerships between May and September of this year for about $10,500 and $13,000. The recall involves certain 2012 F, XF and M models, the CPSC said.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said that if the headlamp fuse fails, it could disorient the snowmobiles driver at a time when visibility is limited and potentially cause a crash.

Arctic Cat discovered the problem during production testing of the models involved. There have been no reports of headlamp failures or injuries, the CPSC said.

Owners of the affected snowmobiles should contact their local Arctic Cat dealer to schedule a free repair. The company has notified the affected owners by mail, the CPSC said.

Usually these designs can become slightly different if some patented design was used that becomes a law suit so would just be a PITA law suit or who knows maybe Doo wants to use AC handle bar adjustment which is very clever & should be used by all OEMs.IMO When you look at Poos rider select then ACs adjustable handle bars you come away with deep belly laughs "what the heck was Poo thinking?" lol Anywho could be a different agenda if you get my drift & I'm thinking Doo wants something from AC & it is not money.

The actuall fuse issue is supossidly being caused from a issue with the high low beam head light switch. The reason i said supossidly is because this statement came from a Cat Tech that is supose to know but we all know how that imfo can be sometimes.

Hadn't thought of this angle. That telescoping bar riser deal would be pretty sweet on my Renegade!

mride: you wrote "all the revolutionary snowmobile ideas have come from the guys in yellow up in Canada". Ummm, I would have to say no way.

Start the crazy talk now but I would say Yamaha has always upped the bar and it started with the Phazer. Then the Vmax 4 for speed, to a four stroke that not only went over 50 but over 100mph, now power steering, the list is endless. I remember when Yamaha debuted the RX1 in Eagle River and picked the skis off the ground and was doing 100 down the back stretch, all the other sled makers when "OH S&*%."

Do get me wrong all the other makers have their great stuff and on credit I give ski-doo is that rider forward, but I think Yamaha has always seemed to be a few steps ahead (in price too, lol)

I saw this on hcs why they filed against Rt 12 rentals

I was there today talking to Bruce and they're aren't worried about it at all. They know it's b.s.

They filed against Rt. 12 because they're the only Cat dealer in Cook County and BRP wanted to have the case in Cook County because they know that the jury in Cook County will be full of idiots who just award whatever because they don't even understand the case.

I said over the last ten years, not all of snowmobile history. When the first phazer and the velocity maximum 4 debuted, I do believe it was the 90's, early 90's at that. I'll give you the RX-1 ton was a great machine being the first really viable four stroke. Just don't get it stuck.
The new yammys are a little lighter but in our group of riders they are still the heaviest and hardest to dig out once stuck.. Their like digging out a ford ranger! Great trail machines I would imagine.
My comparison was more the doo to cat offerings of the last ten years, but most of us are loyal to what we are riding right now and just like to talk poo for the fun of it. Plus, what else is there to do in the UP with no snow to ride on!!!

Arctic Cat did not create their chassis with a tinfoil bulkhead therefore they did not copy Doo...

indy, I have a '98 T-cat for sale....Last year of the round slide carb on the t's. ( think indy, with all that new found wisdom, might be considering a switch)

Not to mention the great phyiscal shape you will be in after digging that out several times. I personally thought that contrary to the Yami listed above as being the heaviest, the T-cats were . I had a 94, one time while boondocking, I got turned around and while attempting to get out drove into a huge cluster of " vines " .... we were stuck there for a while.

Now what were we talking about.... ( I'm suffering from LOS ) lack of snow !

Don't forget that Yamaha invented the oil injection system. Did you know that Ransom E Olds invented the modern day assembly line and not Henry Ford as many may think. Wow! we need snow.

Hmmm mjkaliszak, a 94 t-cat for boondocking (or any t-cat-575 lbs dry w/ 121") lol. I put that right up there with using a Honda Pilot for pulling a 24 foot camper.

Yes we need snow

Hey, how about all the manufactures can't use anything the others invented, ever. So Cat will have the a-arm front and slide rail rear suspensions. Polaris would have the trail arm front and boggie wheel rear suspensions. Yamaha would have the T.S.S. front and boggie wheel rear suspensions. And Doo would have the leaf spring front and boogie wheel rear suspensions.

Cat could be the only one to place the engine before the track while everyone else would have to place the engine over the track. Doo would have the only rubber track. Polaris gets to exclusively use their clutch design. All engines would have to be free-air or fanned cooled because Brute had the first liquid-cooled engine and their gone. Long travel suspensions would be owned by Fast and use by anyone who will pay Karpik a fee. Oh yes, of course since Fast actually invented the ride forward design, any manufacture could buy that from him too.

So, since Fast made the first ride forward design (source http://www.snowgoer.com/output.cfm?id=1192429), what did Doo invent over the last ten years.

This is like Apple suing Microsoft over the GUI interface which Apple actually copied from Xerox. So Doo is suing Cat for a design they copied from Fast. This suit is going no where. Indy is right, Doo is jealous and sees Cat as a threat.
