Come On Menards!

Can’t believe we are still bitching about masks but not hardly a word on the outrageous prices of everything, that is the true crime. 2x6”-8 foot construction/ framing grade board is more that a ground contact Green treated 2x6-8 by over $1.50

Lumber prices not a Menards problem the supply line is all screwed up from the woods to the mills lumber prices are up 3x or more. Currently purchase what you have to have then wait until next year it’s going to take a year or 2 to normalize.

All part of the plan....

Yep, probably a good percent never send it in, and then a good percent never use it when they get it. And it's only good at Menards again anyway. But when you're in the store - you see 11% off.

Had issues too where they mail you a flyer and see you see something on sale, but the sale starts a week after they send the flyer out. So you go to a menards on Thursday, but the sale doesn't start until Sunday.

I like when Lowes does 10% off the top, and it's "over" when you pay :)

Think I'm officially old now, complaining about menards on a snow site.

I used to say the same Indy, but then they changed the floor plan. Now most everything is in a new location so I'm back to square one. As for the masks, I gave up on that one long ago. I wear one when I have to and don't when I can.

One of my Dad's favorite stories; In 1960 Menard's built their first pole building on a neighboring farm in the small town I grew up in. They were just starting out and John Menard was on the first crew with hammer and nails. At the time, pole buildings were something new so it drew some attention from the neighbors. That shed is still standing some 60 years later and of course we all know the rest of the story. And with the price of lumber today I doubt many of us are "Saving Big Money" anywhere.
The west side store they only changed the building materials side, and was at least a year ago already and I’ve probably been in there close to 50 times. They did build a brand new Ace 1/2 mile from my new house next to the Greenville co op but they’re closed Sunday which is when I find myself doing most home projects.

If Menard had his way this pandemic, people working from home and free government money would last another year. I can not imagine the money that place has made in the last year. It's hard to get a break from the crowds there unless you go early in the morning or late, by 10 AM Menards and HD on the weekdays look like a busy Saturday. My two local stores have huge signs walking in advertising starting at $16.50 for full time and $15.50 for part, not too long ago they were starting people out at 11.50. so they are obviously hurting for help. I'm beginning to notice a lot more retirement age people working there.

I gave up on menards long ago as well. FFS there was an armed security face diaper enforcer at the LaCrosse store.... Done.

You get the state was making them do this right ? You really think John wanted to spend the money on these guys ? We are talking about the guy who burns all his reject lumber trated or not to heat his factory because the epa fines are less than the gas bills lol .
Menerds stors in metro Minneapolus were about the last hold out to require masks after the chit show started

Completely agree. The big corporate stores are held to a different standard then your one off lumber yard in Northern Wisconsin. Lots of useless people/employees would love to sue Menards insurance company versus your local lumber yard. Heck, all of your Kwik trip gas stations still have signs up for masks to be worn. It will take the Governor to say no mask are needed for the big corporate stores to drop the mask requirement. The goods news I'll bet that comes soon as many states are already doing so come June/July.

Whitedust - none of what you did likely would have been a problem had your wife just half worn a mask to begin with. I don't like wearing a mask anymore then you do but its simple, if I want to go in someone else's home or business follow the rules they put out. If don't like them, don't go.

Many Canadian mills have never reopened since the "Great Recession". And Menard's will survive, and probably not even noticing, eh!

I've wondered if the one in Dubreville could get up and running again or if it's just going to site and decay?

Home of the world's most complicated gas pump!

The Menards store in Beloit, WI are Nazi's about the masks also. Their rebate system is just ridiculous and makes no sense, just give us the sale price, we are going to come back most likely anyway and they would probably save money as a company in the long run without having the paper and postage costs of the rebates. I have only been in there a handful of times since the big "C" started. The only other place that I wear a mask is when I am at work, luckily for me, I am not around too many people at my job so for a majority of the day I don't have to wear it at work either.

Kohls is worse than Menards.
They have a nice little old lady standing at the doors monitoring mask wearing,,, and they STILL spray down the counters after every time they serve a customer,,,,,, but you know they're following the science. NOT!

I stopped in there last week to pay my kohls credit card,,, didn't put anything on counter or touch counter. Paid with my debit card and as I was pulling the card out the lady grabs her spray bottle, starts spraying counter down. As I'm about to walk away I say,,, You know I didn't touch the counter,,, she's like,,,, ohhh yah you didn't, she shrugs her shoulders, rolls her eyes and says force of habit I guess.

This madness isn't ending anytime soon.

Why wear it at work? Just asking as being curious?

Exactly. The supply chain is designed to run a "normal" harvest each year. We used more lumber last year and logging will take time to catch up with their process. There is no miracle method to instantaneously increase logging and production. Most US consumer lumber goes through a very limited supply chain process with just a few big players. Supply and demand pricing is a sucky deal when the two forces work against each other and we still want the product.

Anybody been to Menards yet and have they eliminated the mask mandate?

Not sure as I will never spend another dime there. Card has been cut up and account paid off. Even if they removed the face diapers I will not ask for a new card nor step foot in their door.
