RB's are a dime a dozen. New england has a bunch of hacks make it work and win SB's. And other recent super bowl winners like giants and packers in 2010 had nothing special at RB. I agree you have to be healthy and have a respectable Defense, a good Qb and Good trench play and your in to win. You cant win on QB alone, but you cant win without a QB. plain and simple, trying to argue that in todays NFL is a waste of breath. Any GM in todays NFL will agree they have to find a QB first. it is bar none the most important asset to a franchise. If there is a QB worthy of a top pic like winston and mariota were this year.....and the bears have the chance to take him....they undoubtably will. Sorry but JJ watt type player does nothing for the bears, but the next andrew luck does. Do you really believe winston and mariota for example were the best players in last years draft? Nope....but the reward is too great to pass up, its can set up a franchise for a decade+

PS. A defense like seattle loading the box playing man to man on the outside...knowing clauson is worse than a hinetit on a boar, is like taking candy from a baby. Look at what the offense did when cutler was in and you have to respect the pass. they ran all over the packers and cardinals until cutler went down...game ova. one other interesting stat, when cutler was QB for 12 drives this season and yes its small sample, but the bears have averaged over 51 yards and 3 points per drive and over 8 yards per play. All those figures would have led the NFL last year. The bears have plenty of pieces to build around but must find help in draft...starting at a young QB..even if he sits for a year behind cutler

The bears couldnt run on Seattle, like momoney stated, cause the bears coaches would not open up the game plan. Yes clausen is a terrible QB, let me repeat that - Clausen is terrible, but the coaches know this team is going no where this year, take some shots down the field, make the defense at least have a little concern for the pass. Most "experts" in the NFL ripped the bears new "all star" coaches all week based upon their game calling. And constantly punting, come on. They obviously gave up on the game.

As for having an elite QB and a functional rest of team, thats about all you get if your paying your elite QB what their worth. Only so much money to go around. You can't pay them all big bucks.

No doubt about it....part of me feels like they are tanking....i kno its probably wrong but why not freaking sling it a little bit...even if its picked off...who cares...

yup Qbs demand the money, its actually why cutlers cap hit next year really isnt that bad of deal in comparison to his peers....last year was brutal tho..thanks emery. cutlers hit is 16 million next year and 15 after that...which if bears draft a young QB, cutler could easily be traded to teams like KC or Houston or cleveland....and bring a decent return.

There is only one position on the team worthy of 10%+ of your cap space, that is the QB....not 20 million dollar a year JJ watt and nkdomakong(spell check that) suh. those guys just arent worth the cap space...even tho how good they are. rodgers 20 million touches ball every play and wins games, jj watt 20 million maybe touches ball once and cant win even when he has his best games...i would never pay a defensive guy that money, but some would and do...different strokes for different folks...

Da Bears were trying to play keep away from the Seahawks... NFLs fastest defense. So Fox brought in the meat with size against speed wihich worked ok until the hawks figured it out by Q2. Clauson was horrible so really couldn't take sucker shots down the field in fact Gase didn't even call those plays makes you think maybe they were just trying to avoid a demoralizing blow out. Really 26 -0 not too bad when one of the best teams is playing the NFL #32 ranked team .lol

Bears lose to the Raiders and the fire sale will continue if they win Pace may have to rethink can't get too many Ws or no ACE QB draftee. Really is up to the players to change the outcome & their own fate.

If cutler doesnt play, bears have not shot of winning any games...cutler plays i think they may beat the raiders...clauson...nope. no chance. i think we gota tank. indy went 1-15 to get luck. i say we do the same.

if the bears get a early pick, which is almost certain, and they draft a quality QB the city of chicago will be buzzing and it will bring a huge lift to the organization. I can just hear the talk already!
I would like to see David Fales play, just to see what you have. I don't expect much but it would be good to see what he can do and see if he is worthy of hanging on to.

Yes I see no point in playing Cutler unless Pace & Fox want to win 1 but possibly reinjure Cutler in the process ....keep him healthy for possible trade talks...Peyton sat before Luck was drafted & we should do the same. Is there another NFL team as bad as Bears? lol

With cutler there are teams worse. Without cutler playing i think they are the worst team in league. He can run no huddle and puts was more pressure on defenses than clauson. But yea this year is a bust regardless...but they may want to show teams what he is capable of when trestman isn't calling the shots. Lot forget he was 27-13 as a starter from 2010-2012 before trestman. He isnt the greatest but i think teams like kansas city and houston could really benefit from him and we could use more pics. See what happens.....gota remember we just played the top 3 teams in NFC...schedule only gets easier...so dont be suprised when they win a few games here. GB was close, az was close until jay got hurt..and seattle was close until after halftime and woulda been close whole game likely if cutler played. See what happens...

A hamstring injury like Cutler has can tend to linger on for a long time. Also easy to spring again. He is going to have to be careful the rest of the season. How high of a draft pick will he bring? Assuming somebody trades for him and Chicago pays some of his salary Jared Allen style.

Well I think after 0-3 playing the best teams there was a conversation between Pace & Fox. Went sorta like this Ryan....well John what do you think about this team now you have had training camp and played the 3 best teams in the NFL? John...Ryan I'll coach these Yahoos but we are not going to the SB anytime soon uless we get some guys who can score on O and play my 3-4 D. Cutler not the best but can't move him due his salary so lets trade the dead weight that won't affect our team much & pool up some draft picks & along the way get me a stud QB. Ryan... Ok John will do the best I can as soon as I can! A fly on the wall told me all this.LOL

Cutler played well..... especially considering he lost starting center to broken leg 1st quarter...backup left tackle and guard in, along with no alshon...and a bad leg....hope kansas city or houston was watching.....

forte also showed he has a lot left in the tank.

Pace lets move these guys while their stock is high!

You guys all retired or work the night shift? I barely have enough time to read all your posts while I'm on a quick lunch break at my desk, much less put that much thought and time into writing a post.

Can't say Fox was happy after 1st Bear win....it is a milestone for him but he just trotted off the field like no big deal at all. lol

even when the bears win they still lose.

Kinda. Forte and cutler made a case why other teams could use them. But yea if cutler sticks around and plays unfortunetaly they will win some games, prolly too many to get a top pick. Groh throws 4tds 400yards for CAL again. They are now 5-0. once again 4 bears scouts spotted at game.

If Pace is going to move anyone of value should happen by Wednesday. Just have to see....entire team is unprotected but Pace wants value for value. Who knows maybe he plans to resign Forte?

Highly highly doubt he is planning to sign forte, unless he is willing to play for cheap, which he wont. Old players and rebuilding, dont go hand in hand. I think he is just kinda hoping one of the contenders has a RB go down, and he can then pounce on the opportunity to ship forte to them, barring its lacy, as i could never see the bears and packers coming to agreement on a trade.

Just for the fact starting QBs dont get traded in season very often, i think cutler is trying out for next season, if the bears do in fact take a 1st round QB. if they do not take a QB in first round, well then cutler haters, your boy will be back.

I just hope that the Bears front office is monitoring this board. These guys have it all figured out! :)

Yep Cutler seems stuck to the Bears but he can't get loose & the Bears can't move him so he plays as best QB available. Cutler would not be so bad if he could stop the back breaking picks but game after game he gets picked. Sunday Fox would not let that happen & ran the ball in clutch situations but the league will be over that next week. Forte what 29-30 in good shape and could be a good RB for 2+ years just depends on how much lean green he wants & if Bears will pay the price. It would be good to trade him for a draft pick but read Pace wants at least #4 for him which seems reasonable to me.

If the previous GM would have read this board, he might have done better. He was just as terrible as they get.

Packers would never trade for Forte, injury to Lacy or not. It's not how they operate. Been that way since Ted Thompson took over. I'm still surprised he brought in Peppers, who BTW did a lot better for The Pack than Allen did for the Bears. I seem to recall a few bears fans on here thinking they got a steal and Ted Thompson was a fool.....

But Dallas might trade Chicago.....

Heck Dallas might want Forte, Jeffery, and Cuthead. I could see Jerry Jones giving up 1st round draft picks for the next 5 years for those 3. Haha.
