Thanks for the roll call Lenny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lets all keep the faith and encourage each other. Like I said last week, now is the time to work hard so we can enjoy the 4th of July parties! Loirwlcr you keep that work up and continue to watch your intake like you said, and you'll be hitting that goal by riding season for sure!

As for me I had a good week. Still working hard and on track to hit the 50 by 50 goal but a little worried about next week. I'm taking a short vacation with my wife and we plan to spend 3 days on the beachs of MI and hitting the shops and sampling the local food places so I have my work cut out for me.

I'm a few weeks behind the rest of you all so I've just finished my tenth week so here are my numbers:

Started at 250, today was 207, lost 4 for the week, 43 total and a % loss of 17.2%. Got 15 days for the next 7 pounds, but if I don't make it, thats ok. It's more about keeping the faith and moving forward so lets all just keep doing that! Just think what a celebration we can have at next years Ride-In when we all get together and realize what we have all gone through so many miles apart, yet connected and supporting each other all along the way.

Im down 1.8 for the week. If ever I had a week where there wasnt a party or two I could really kick but . Im actually being very consistant . This is the 10th week weigh in for me and am down every week but 1 and that was only 1.8 up that week. Had as low as 1.2 losses and as high as 4.4 losses so I am gonna keep plugging away but have a tough 10 days coming up as vacation starts Friday.Good luck to all and have a great 4th.

nothing easy about loosing weight, gotta look at it like a life style change or we will not maintain our goal weight

Week 1: 177 lbs
Week 2: No weigh-in
Week 3: 183
Week 4 & 5: No weigh-in
Week 6: 177 lbs
Week 7: 176 lbs
Week 8: Holding steady at 176
Week 9: Still holding at 176
Week 10: 175
Week 11: No weigh-in. Sorry, I forgot
Week 12: 175
Week 13: 175

Steady as she goes. I would love to take another 5 pounds off because that's that much less load that my still healing achilles needs to carry.

I read a study about weight loss that said there's a 1:4 ratio of weight loss to load reduction. Which means that for every 1 pound of weight loss, there is a 4-pound reduction in joint load per step. The study also showed that the accumulated reduction in knee load for a 1-pound loss in weight would be more than 4,800 pounds per 1 mile walked. For people losing 10 pounds, each knee would be subjected to 48,000 pounds less in compressive load per mile walked.

WOW - 10 pounds lost = 48,000 pounds of compressive load per mile walked!!!

I guess Vince Lombardi was right when he said that "God gave us a body that take almost anything, but it's our minds that we need to convince."

x2

Can't go back to our old ways after we each hit our goal or else we'll just go back to our old physical self as well.

Lenny, your so right. I was doing good in the beginning and then one buffet led to another. I think God ment us to be a certain size but some of us take that to the limit. Not sure where I am at for weight right now but I suspect I am losing the battle.

Bad week, too much stress. Up 3 pounds. Next week on vacation which might help-much less stress.

What a difference a day makes! Same scale (calibrated), same time and same workout; down 4 pounds this morning over yesterday, so that makes down 1 from last week. FYI, I weighed twice yesterday cause couldn't believe up 3 and twice today cause couldn't believe down 4 in 24 hours.

week 13 = +1.6 lbs

Total loss = 59.4 lbs ( 14% total body weight)

A weekend of relaxing and eating out kiled me. I was down about another 4lbs going in to the weekend and put it all back on and them some. Been a good week so far though. Still happy with my overall loss.

Made it through the week and stayed on track. Finished week 11 and lost 3 so I'm down 46 total, 18.4%. Had a hard time on the weekend as I started a little trip with my wife that we finished up just now so may have gained something today after my weigh-in, but I've got a week to work if off before the next one.

I really have to hit everything hard this week. Got 8 days till I hit the big 5-0 and I need to drop 4 more pounds to hit the same number for pounds lost, so its a lot of working out, eating right, and drinking a lot of water.

How about everyone else out there? How did the rest of you do? Come on, even if it was tough, keep checking in and talking with the rest of us, we can all encourage each other as we take on this new lifestyle together.

I’m just hoping to draft behind you and ridindirty. Not on your league but checked in at 211 today (-26 lbs/10.9%). There are signs of progress though. Last week, in my usual morning stupor I grabbed an older pair of jeans that in no way would have fit 3 months ago. I didn’t discover this until after I got to work. I must say, it was kind of a good feeling.

Skutr’s information on compressive loading is pretty interesting. Based on the ratio, the 26 lbs translates into a 104 lb compressive load reduction on my aging knees every step I take. Hopefully this will contribute to greater durability and agility this coming winter. I need every advantage I can get.

Not on your league ..... Last week, in my usual morning stupor I grabbed an older pair of jeans that in no way would have fit 3 months ago. I didn’t discover this until after I got to work. I must say, it was kind of a good feeling.

We are all in the same league! I just had more to start out with so I have more to take off. The smaller we get the harder it is. I've got a ton of respect for everyone no matter what they have lost. It's hard work, and then when you hit that goal, keeping it off will be the long journey.

I've had that same feeling about older clothes. I had to ditch a belt that I ran out of holes in, (on the skinny end for once!) dug some old jean shorts out that were way too small two years ago, and was complaining to my wife when I wanted to buy a new shirt over the weekend and all they had were XL's. My old complaint would have been because I was thinking about a XXL, this time I wanted a large. Really keeps you going when you realize you're saying things you'd never thought you'd hear yourself saying again.

Now come on everyone, lets keep the faith and stay on track though these dog days of summer.

WAY TO GO GUYS! Yes getting into any thing smaller is such an awesome feeling, I have gone from a size 22 to an 12 in the past 4 years. How true it is when we get down to those final pounds it's a down right struggle. I didn't do my accountability Mon. working doubles now on Mon. and Wed, so today was weigh in day and to my surprise I was down 4 lbs. since my last roll call on 6/25 yepppeee happy happy joy joy : )

Way to go loriwlrc! Isn't it great when you have that kind of success when you least expect it! Those are the things that can keep us all going for another period of time, thanks for sharing.

I have progress goals of 225 by Memorial Day, 210 by my 50th birthday, July 10th, 200 sometime around Labor day, and finally 185 by the time I get back on the sled this winter.

This is what I said back in May. I've been saying lately I wanted to be at 200 tomorrow so I could say I lost 50 by the time I turned 50. Yesterday I was at 49 so I thought no problem and I must have not been as careful because this morning I weighed in at 201.8. Still have some hope for tomorrow's goal but I would have to say this week was a mixed success. Lost some from last week even with a day or two of vacation, but thought I would have been at 200 today. Anyway, if I go back and read what I said before I guess I need to be happy with my progress so far.

For the record here are my numbers as I close week 12:

Started at 250, this week 201.8, total lost 48.2 or 19.28%. For the week lost 2.2 pounds.

Like I said, mixed emotions so guess I'll have to try to ramp up the bandwagon and see what happens this week.

5 weeks at 175. Now how's that for a plateau. I've started to track my meals & exercise on my Ipad app "MyFitnessPal". I don't know if it will help but maybe I can figure out what's going on. I supspect it might be the beer, weekends & BBQ. I hope not. :(
