Wow! we already hit the 8 pound mark! Way to go guys you came in way better than your goals. Skiroule I know exactly what you mean about the red zone and the upcoming week. I really want to hit 2 or a little over this week but I know it will be hard. ridindirty way to go, you really must have stayed on top of it. 3 this week and you will go over that 100 mark! That will be a HUGE milestone.

Looking forward to hearing from everyone else, no matter how you all did, keep in touch, stay the course and let us know how your week was.

sorry for not checking in early today and I didn't weigh in this morning but even after dinner I was at 187 so I will confirm tomorrow but I believe I did at least 1. I have 4 large jobs going all at the same time and I just sat down for the day, was gone at 7 am this morning and didn't wake up till 6:45, barley had enough time to pee.

I will say you guys rock and rock big time. This is like a family and I am glad to know all of you. I hope we can meet some time some how. We all should have a table at the ride in if any of us are going, I know I am!

Count me in for the ride in Lenny. I've already got 4, 4 day trips planned with reservations made at the Super 8 (no offence to Lori, or the other sponsors with lodging but when there is only 2 of us and a room was $65 it made sense) the first one starts Jan 2 and then they are about every other weekend through mid Feb including the "Ride-in" weekend. Would love to meet up with as many "losers" as possible to share both struggles and successes.

It's great to encourage each other, and thanks to you Lenny for having the courage to throw this thread out there a long time ago.

Not sure how you all feel about one more weekly team goal with Labor Day weekend coming up so no pressure but if anyone wants to try another one I'm in for 2.5. Last week was real hard so I'm backing off just little this time, but maybe I can follow the lead you guys set and go over the goal.

Anyway, I'm in for 2.5, looks like ridindirty is at 3 so we're at 5 total, anyone else want to join?

I was on vacation last week so no weigh in. 1 week of very little exercise (extremely unusual for me) showed up on the scale this morning--OUCH! I sweat-ed out 3 pounds at the club this morning, but still have a lot of beer(s) left to get rid of. Gary, for 8lbs as a group, you don't want my number this Monday.

Ok, back on track, lost all the vacation blot plus another pound. But what a rough week on the court (racket Ball).

Wow, just re-read my post from last week and I forgot that I had set a 2.5 pound goal. I thought it was only 2, but either way I didn't make it this week. Once again the work week went well and I was down lower Saturday morning but gained some back so today I'm up a little from then. Only the second goal I've set that I didn't get to so I have to take the positive, and look at overall success, but as you all know it can get frustrating at times when you don't see the number you want.

This was the close of my 20th week, so that was a milestone, numbers are: 180.2, down 1.8 for the week, 69.8 overall for a total percentage of 27.92%

Really wanted to be under 180 which would have been over 70 total but it keeps getting harder and harder. Like I said, this was week 20, I feel like I need a break right now. I've lost at least 2 pounds every week since I've started except this week, and week 14 when it was only 1.5. I don't want to break the pattern of losing, but I need a day or two this week of just eating what I want, when I want. My goal will be to lose something for the week, so I can be below 180 next week but I'm not going to live for a number. Hope you all understand, not sure why I feel the need to explain it all to you but I look to you as my support group and I feel like I would be letting you all down if I didn't keep you aware of where I'm at mentally. Maybe I'm just trying to look for justification too. Anyway, sorry for going on.

Now, on to everyone else. I'm really excited to hear from ridindirty! I'm hoping you had a good week and hit that 100 pound mark! Lenny too, you've had a couple good weeks in a row here so I hope you were able to keep the momentum going and lvr sounded like you were gearing up for a good week too so I hope you had the success you wanted. Looking forward to hearing from everyone else out there who is still chipping away, check in and share with us how you're doing.

Have a good Labor Day everyone.

184.5! I've meet my long term goal with 2.5 for the week. This last couple weeks with the additional challenge has been real good for me. Thanks guys for the motivation. I still see a little fat at the mid section but now I need to work on the local area and start seriously with some work outs. It doesn't end here people.

How many more weeks left in the original challenge, is that over,,,regardless, we need to not gain weight back and come up with a plan to maintain

Good work Lenny!! My week goal was 3lbs and I ended up with 5.6lb loss. Playing in a softball tourny all day yesterday helped shed a few extra pounds. Happy labor day to everyone as well!

Week 23- 5.6lbs lost
Total = 102.8lbs (25.7% total body weight loss)

I have to learn to get my posts in earlier. I’ve been eating a lot of dust in this challenge – at least there’s no calories :)

Lenny, I’ve always targeted the end of September as the “unofficial” end of the challenge for me. That would be a 6 month period and works out for a Monday, Oct 1st weigh-in. Obviously, the effort will continue, probably just not as publicly.

Weighed 200.8 this morning (-2 lbs for the week). Not sure how much credit I want to take for this due to some possible assistance from pain killers. On the flip side, my activity level has been pretty low so maybe it balances out. We’ll see how things look next week now that I’m off the killers and moving around more.

Gary, I think we’re all going to reach a point at which we feel we can maintain a weight that we like and not have to sacrifice too many of the good things in life. I think that point marks the end of the full-blown weight loss effort and it becomes more of a tuning process. A trade-off here and there, maybe some longer exercise sessions now and then, some meal alternatives, and so on. As one who has lost quite a bit of weight before and gained it back, I know I have to watch for the danger signs and learn from my mistakes.

RD800, you’re a machine.

Way to go guys! Great news all the way around so far.

Skiroule you're right on regarding maintaining in the future and how its about trade offs. I'm getting close to that point but not quite there. I'm not sure if the weight I want to maintain is 175 or 170 and I figure I'll need to go a little below those numbers because I'm sure I'll bounce back a little. My comments before came from feeling a little down in the dumps. I really wanted to be lower this morning. I've had a lot of events in the past few weeks and I've really been strict about my eating so I guess I was frustrated. Because of that I think I just need to live a little and if I only lose a pound one week, or it takes me a couple weeks longer to finally hit my goal so be it. Maybe its actually the start of easing out of full blown loss mode and transitioning into slow down mode so maintenance will be more natural.

I'll keep going as long as the rest of you want, but this thread has lived a long life and I'm sure some JD'ers are getting tired of seeing it popping up all the time. If you all want to pick a date that works for me. After that we can all keep it going with PM's or something else too. Skiroule picked Oct 1 which works for me. My 6 month date is Oct 17 so I like that too. Any other ideas?

Well we started talking about the "end" date of this challenge last week and I've thought about it on and off when I've been walking. For me I'm setting my goal both on time and weight, and I'm shooting for October 15 with a weight goal of 170. That would be around my 6 month mark and I'd really like to end up at that weight, but I think I'll need to drop about 3 pounds below that so I can bounce back and maintain around there so as I get closer I'm sure I'll adjust my thoughts. Good job Lenny on hitting your goal, be sure to keep checking in and let us know how you're doing on maintaining. Way to go ridindirty on crossing over that 100 pound mark! I can't believe how successful you've been week after week, and what you've done. I bet you get comments every day from people asking how you've done it and telling you that you look great. Keep it going. Hope all of you had a good week, and like I said before, we can keep this going in different ways for as long as anyone would like if you all have some ideas just put them out there.

For the week, after some mental struggles the first couple days I got back to diet mode and ended up with a decent week. At 177.4, down 2.8 for the week, 72.4 & 29.04% overall.

Thanks Gary, yeah some people do not even recognize me when they first see me, its pretty funny. Still want another 40-50lbs then just stay at that weight. Never thought I could do it but I feel great now and am not going to go back to where I was. Now onto the results

Week = 2.6lbs
Total = 105.4lbs (26.4% total body weight loss)

I failed to weigh in this morning as I ran out the house 10 mins after I woke. I gotta be in Onto tomorrow at 7 but I need to remember to hop on the scale. I know I have my tool belt on a new setting so I am still maintain and hopefully lost another 1-2 but I cannot go much more, probably 3 more and I'll have no more fat.

My success is mainly burning crazy calories through working big hrs and through this it has never been more evident how much activity plays a role (and than along with reducing poor eating habits.)

Oh boy....Guess I got a little too carried away with the fact that food has started tasting good again. The rib feed I had yesterday definitely stuck to my ribs. Up 2 lbs. Well, it could have been worse.

Will report back on Oct 1, which will be my final weigh-in date.

Have not checked in for couple weeks- 2 weeks from ****. Flooded finished basement because of pin holes in main water line, mother-in-law had stroke, then passed 3 days later. Then to top it off, our Dobe Hailey that just went through 21 weeks of Chemo passed from congestive Heart Failure suddently Labor day while family up from Florida staying with us for the funeral of mother-in-law.
So no 6 days a week of 1-1/2 hour intense workout, still down 1 pound.

Well seemed like I had a unwanted shift toward maintaining this week. Really lost will power, and ate more of what I wanted ( strawberry sundae's 5 nights, 3 parties with cake and non-diet food and way to many candy bars to count) rather than sticking to the diet mode. If I try to take the positive away I can say that helped give me an idea how to live after I hit my goal, but problem is I'm not quite to the goal yet so I also look at this as a wasted week.

At 176.6 this morning, down .8 for the week, total lost 73.4, 29.36%.

I've settled in on my end of challenge goals. I'm going until October 15 and setting a final weight goal of 170. That will be 80 pounds total in 6 months. I've got 4 weeks and 6.6 pounds to go so we'll see if I can switch back to diet mode this week and get a good start on it.

How about the rest of you, hope you all had a better week than me if you were trying to lose, and for those of you maintaining hope you found the course that lets you stay stable!

I'm in at 184 so 1/2 up from last week. To much eating out for lunch at work. I know I can do better!

Finished week 23, now at 174.4 with 2.2 lost, total of 75.6, and I crossed over the 30% mark with 30.24%

Keep the faith guys and remember it's all those little choices during the week that add up, so choose wisely! Lenny, I thought you were going to maintain around that 184 so eventhough you say could could have done better you should have been ok last week, or are you still going to try to drop a little? ridindirty, you keep going and you'll be in the poor house because of all the new clothes you have to buy, do you have a final goal that you're working toward?
