Did U get fat this last winter?

just weighed in at 185.0 and I am stoked. You should have seen what I ate this last weekend at the trail brushing party. I had 2 burgers, 1 brat, 2 sweet corn, potato salad, baked beans, 3 cherry strudel, 3 cookies, 3 brews. The thing for me though is that I worked 84 hrs again last week of physical construction labor. I have enough work lined up to do the same for the next 3 weeks. Also, I have been watching my food intake most the time. I do not want to deprive myself where I am always wanting tasty large quantity of food so I do indulge but make no mistake that it is a rarity these days because I do not want to be back at 203.

Still I have a tad of spare tire in the mid section but much less than when we started. I need help on figuring a way to see that go bye bye. No way with my work load can I start lifting but in roughly 3 weeks I ought to be able to implement a workout plan. I really would like to develop a 6 pack but that would be real tough to do at this age.

Sounds like a perfect meal plan! 185 is a pretty impressive weight for a tall rangy guy such as yourself (rangy, not to be confused with mangy)

Holding at 201 (-36 lbs) with one week until final weigh-in (for me). Doesn’t look like the revised goal of 197 will happen but didn’t really figure in the reduced activity after surgery. There is definitely still some weight that could be lost so it could happen at some point. If it doesn’t, the 200 neighborhood seems like a weight that could be realistically maintained in the +/- 5 lb range.

Hoping to resume light lifting workouts next week so that may provide a needed shot in the arm and start to recover some overall muscle conditioning. Riding time approaches….

Man I wish these weigh-in days could be on Thursday. Seems like I always hit a low point just before the weekend then gain a little on Friday and Saturday. Then I end up trying to drop back down on Sunday before I have to tell everyone how I did. This week I ended up 1.4 pounds higher than my low point mid-week, Oh well, at least I'm still headed in the right direction.

Closed out week 24 at 172.9. That is down 1.5 for the week, 77.1 overall, for a total loss percentage of 30.84%.

Two weeks to go for my "official" diet schedule, want to be 170 or less so if I keep tracking at the same rate I'll just make it. After that I'll need to start up with Lenny and skiroule on the workout program so I can re-position some of the weight I have and be ready for the season.

Ridindirty, how long/far you want to go? Have you set a final goal?

Oct. 1: The Day of Reckoning – final report-in for me. Scale said 199.8 this morning. Not much under 200 but under 200 is under 200 (-37 lbs). Hoping to maintain in the 198 – 203 range and get back into shape. Light workouts resume today. Will work on upper body stuff until the knee starts to behave.

Gary, Lenny, and RidinDirty800 set a wicked pace that was beyond what most of us mortals could achieve but they also provided weekly inspiration. Actually, everyone that gave it a shot was a motivator and should be congratulated.

Best of luck to everyone in Lenny’s group of losers!

I am know I am a little late getting in, but a little extra encouragement is always good. How long are you going to keep this going? When do you typically weigh in? I see my buddy Lenny is down to 184 and if I am going to have a prayer keeping up with him this winter I better get my butt in gear. Looking forward to joining in. I started at 368 on September 4th. Currently at 348. Goal is 299 by 12/21 "first trip to da u.p."

Bobby!!!!! Nice to see you here and YES! it's never too late to jump in. I have my work cut out for me to get in shape and wanna start lifting but been puttin it off for months and now is decision time. I need a bench still but I do have all my old free weights in da garage. Maybe I'll check Craig's list to find a used bench. I'm gonna have a 6 pack by the first time you are up here or your and Nicks lodging is free!

just don't hold me to that,,,lol

I think I have an old bench with some free weights you can have. I will see what I can find. Don't worry the only thing I'm holding you too this year is a trip out west.

Been a few weeks since I checked in but since my last check in I have lost 8.2lbs.

These are my results to date

Total = 115.4lbs lost (28.8% body weight lost)

I still have a goal to lose about 30 more lbs by January when I started my own personal weight loss challenge. I know this one started in I think March on the JD site. Good luck to everyone still trying to drop some weight.

here was my secret, I was actually disgusted with the spare tire forming in my mid section and I have always been a high energy guy. I was feeling the drag and just plain unhappy and when it started to come off it was so motivating it just sustained my motivation. I just wanted it real bad and my efforts showed a return. It feels real good to be as healthy as I can be!

All that was actually not a secret because there really is no secret. you just gotta want it and than go for it. Make a decision and live by it!

Welcome in byrn! The secret is finding something that works for you so you feel like it is a lifestyle you can continue to live. If you go back a few pages on the thread you can see what I did which was basicly setting a calorie limit per meal and per day then counting everything I ate. I also started walking and now am up to about 4 miles 9 out of 10 days. I also keep 2 excel spread sheet that track how I'm doing, one is a graph that I update and print every week then hang on the wall over the scale. That way I never for get my weight from the last week.

I'm close to getting to my goal and shifting from losing mode to maintaining mode but would love to keep accountable with some people so I'll keep checking in and hope to keep up with how you, ridindirty and everyone else is doing toward their goals.

You asked a while back about when we check-in, and it's been Mondays so feel free to jump on the band wagon!

Thanks Lenny! That's where I am at. It's going really good right now and it feels awesome. Let it snow!

Hey Bob, I have given this a little more specific thought and have this to say in addition to what Gary just mentioned. Drink more water, drink less pop, target the week area of eating for example: my personal weakness is evening snacks. So, I eat more things that are healthy that I actually like such as Raisin Brand cereal, apples, oranges. I eat less ice cream, chips. Now,,,keep in mind that if we deprive ourselves we will chrash hard at some point so do not deprive yourself of the things you crave. Have what you like but in moderation. We often forget how fulfilling some healthy foods actually are. Ask you wife to help you in ways that promote your agenda like not buying the junk foods and taking a deliberate approach in more healthy eating.

The fact is that you will loos weight or maintain a current weight with less fat intake but with the addition of a pleasant physical activity you will for sure loose body fat at a faster rate.

We need to train ourselves to eat less and eat better quality foods and once the habit is in place it obviously replaces the bad habit. For me I really am pumped up about the loss of fat and it motivates me to keep at it. Like Gary said, come up with a plan that changes a lifestyle and than a sustainable approach can be achieved

Hey Lenny,

Thanks for the input. That is basically what I have been doing for the last month. My wife is supporting me in whatever way she can. I agree that you need to look at it as a lifestyle change and not a diet. I am definately motivated with the results I am getting and I appreciate the support.

Still moving along slow but sure. One week to go till the 6 month mark and when I want to say I'm moving to maintenance, but at the rate I'm going not sure what number I should target, the weight or the date. Really want to be at 170 when I make that move which is very reachable but if I have another week like this one I'll fall short. Guess I'll need to stay the course, work hard, and lay off those night time snacks (those seem to be my downfall too Lenny) so I can celebrate next Monday.

Numbers for the end of week 25:
Weighed in at 171.8, down 1.1 for the week, 78.2 overall, 31.28% of starting weight.

Hope all of you still working at this had a good week, I'll be looking forward to hearing how you all did!

185.5 this morning. I did start my abs workout and am a little sore but that feeling is motivating. I hope I can stick with it and see some results!
