I didn't just get fat this winter- it's been creeping up for awhile. My youngest is 3.5 yrs old, so I can't keep calling it 'baby weight' at this point. The bummer- my genes just don't like me. I actually work out a lot already. Running (did a half marathon last summer in 2:08 (under 10 min/mile pace for 13.1 miles), strongman stuff, weights, etc. I joined CrossFit 2 months ago and am doing that 3-4 days a week, plus a run on the weekends. I finally had to suck it up and accept the fact that my diet is the issue. I've been following the CrossFit 'Paleo' diet for about 6 weeks or so now. I'm down 7 lbs. I'm not being a diet nazi about it- I'm cheating on Friday nights when we go out to dinner, here or there, but trying to stick to it during the week for the most part. If there's one thing I've learned over the years- if you go nuts on some diet, you will of course lose weight. However- if you pick a diet that is super restrictive, it will all come back, and the lbs usually bring some new friends to. So the weight is coming off slower than I'd like, but it's steady, I'm not starving, and I actually like what I get to eat. It was definitely a mind shift, and it's still in progress. I'd push a small child out of the way for a pretzel right now!
Anyhoo- I'm in. I refuse to post my starting weight =) But I know it- and like I said, I'm down 7 lbs since 2/1.
Skutr- I'm still on the fence for ToughMudder- I want to do it, but I don't want to pay the $150 registration fee. Plus a hotel. Kind of a lot to torture myself. If you're into adventure stuff- or running- check out Dances With Dirt. It's a 100K relay race of 5 team members. You spend the day running trails (that cross creeks, swamps, etc) in the middle of nowhere. Your team rides around in the car from each exchange to pick up a runner finishing a leg, and where your next runner starts their next leg. Then you're off to the next exchange. Pretty fun. Especially if you have a big group of nutty running friends to do it with.
