As of now only people that can open a dispensary is one that has a medical seller license. I think March of next year is when anyone can apply for the permits. The two permits I think that are required are a total of 50k.

Ridiculously too low!!! The tax rate should be at least 100x that. I mean, since the whole reason for decriminalizing it was for all this wonderful tax revenue!

Great as long as you are all for 100% on cigs and booze .
Also pot has been decriminalized for a long long time for anything under a oz was a tix you could pay just like a speed or running a stop. Most cops did not even wast the time .
It is completely insane it is taking the govenment this long to undo stupid laws that should have never been implemented in the first place .

For anyone that's been to the Houghton site, how's the prices?

The Illinois tax is pretty ridiculous. 17% on flower, 25% on edibles! I've been to Verilife down in Ottawa a couple times. The line back in March was pretty long. Stopped a couple weeks ago, and right in.

I went to there site . It is nice you can pre order and just stop in and pick up your order . Bit more money than CO and a lot more than CA but they have zero legal comp so make it when you can . Really if not stocking up to get you thrugh the summer dose any one really care if you pay 60 for a gram of good hash? I dont . Now will I stock up prob not but deff drop as much as they let me in a stop . Got to support local small biz after all lol. It would be unpatriotic to do anything less

Have no problem with excessive sin taxes. Yep, tax the heck out of cigs and booze. I don't smoke and drink maybe a bottle of wine from Three Lakes Winery every few months. Heck, I gone a year without touching alcohol. I don't fell life is that tough that I need substances to escape reality. Nor do I need to reward myself with substances either.

Taxes are included in all their pricing. If it says $60, you're out the door for $60.
I can't speak to the flower or edibles but a 1/2 gram vape oil was $60 - High for the market. Used to seeing a gram of oil for that price. It was quality though.
The dispensary will make an impression on everyone differently, depending on the legality of your home state.
There is black market weed, edibles and vape oils all throughout MN. But instead of grabbing supplies for a trip to the UP...We can drive the interstates with less anxiety and know there is a variety of legal products waiting for you to arrive.... with just a little convenience fee.

I was visiting CO in February, the year they legalized. The local news in Denver was reporting they had erased the state debt in January.....their first month of legalization.

Everything, but I don't need to respond. Those other taxes weren't sold as a bill of goods to be a panacea for all the revenue ills in the government. They developed the lottery to pay for schools, but schools are still broke. They allowed gambling to pay for schools, but schools are still broke. Now, the next panacea was pot to make up all the missing revenue. I don't believe that line either based on past experience. So, if another sin/vice tax is going to be the panacea, tax the **** out of it. If you don't like the taxes, don't buy it. Why stop at pot, make prostitution legal and tax the **** out of it. That seems to be the mindset now a days. (If we can get money for it, make it legal)

They really should make prostitution legal.

Marriage is very much like prostitution but you make a pledge to a individual person.

With traditional prostitutes you can have a different one every day and when it decided that one of them is a mean bore or got fat its doesn't cost half of what you worked your entire life for to make them go away, you just tell them to leave.

Question for those where it is legal, if you were to get stopped by police is there a certain amount you can have or do you have to have proof that it was bought legally? Just curious!

Chicago loves the tax money so much they are talking about taking out a loan against FUTURE pot sales. These people are flat out nuts. Spending money they don’t even have. One of the highest taxed states, and their broke, embarrassing, but not to them!

Just like Illinois doesn’t own the toll system they sold it for the quick cash and only get a percentage of the take and some company makes money. Just the thing government does.

I checked a reciept from May. For a $50 buy (1/8) - excise tax was $5 and sales $3. They sure do make easy. Quite a few along I-75. I already knew what I wanted. Pulled up, cute girl comes out to my car and placed my order, she comes back, we do the handoff and away I go. To bad there are no drive up beer stores.

I know of a few drive thru beer stores, but they are off I-75 and in Saginaw, friend of my nephew owns one.

Like booze it comes in sealed containers. You are not allowed open container in cab of car/truck
Places like CO you can buy a oz at a time but you can go from store to store . They got smart on the hash end at first you could go in and by 28grams of hash at a stop . Got $$$ but who cares if you can be stocked up for a yr with a few stops on a sled trip. I dont think they give 2 chits how much you have in your duffel bag in the trunk if you are not high driving

Serious question.... so you can buy hash, along with Mary-Jane? I always wondered what happened to the hash market...it was always preferable to me.

Not so fast wireburnguy. Greenland is not a done deal, actually far from it. There will be a meeting on this and it's getting lots of resistance from long time locals in Greenland.

Why Greenland? Market wise not a lot of customers in that area 365 days a year. The market is in the higher population areas and cross border entry towns to WI border. Greenland seems Like a dumb location. Imo

I agree.
Also, once a Tribal dispensary opens in Watersmeet with a lower tax rate the Greenland location is toast..and possibly many others..lower price equals more customers.

gas tax (state and fed) total more than 25% where i live. wait for the new "sin of driving" tax to take hold.

should be a balance between cost and tax. my guy says he'll always be more reasonable than the state, maybe they will use dye on pot like they do gas.
