yup! 4-5" melting as we speak LOL! Hopefully I can make it to a buddy's hunting land this weekend to go for a bigger ride before it all melts! (please acatzl550, tomorrow is my birthday :D ) It still makes the ticking sound, it's not as bad when it's warmed up. And only makes about 2-3 when coming to a stop now. It IS the powervalves. It does make the noise if I rev it up to 3k rpm and let the rpms drop instantly without engaging the clutch. I put my hand over the head while it made the noise and didn't feel any "thumping" then i put it over the powervalve cover and could feel the "thump thump thump" So, the new springs didn't solve it. The bellows have no tears. They ARE clean now. I heard I may have to turn the idle up because the rpms are dropping too much from 4k to 1.5k and causing the powervalves to chatter. Not too concerned, she drove really nice! Darts a tad more than my 700, I need to tighten up the front limiter strap badly. I can't get the belt off, I need the team industries belt removal tool. I'm loving the double handlebar hook, thanks again MJK! Can't wait to put the 400's in there instead of the 410's. I'm sure it won't make a HUGE difference, but the plugs are BLACK! I think it may need new needle and seats, after I let it sit for 15 min. and went to start it up, I had to hold the throttle to get it to start. It's a little bit tippier than my gen II, but the rear suspension is AHHHMAZING! I didn't feel a thing, i hopped onto my 700 and it felt like riding a haywagon. I felt like I was riding a 4-stroke the thing is so dang quiet! I may just have to get an slp can ;)

A 1/4-20 bolt will spread the sheaves to get the belt off. I am not real sure if that is the correct thread pitch or not, but it workes on my Buddy's 900.

Sled looks good Indy!

SLP's aren't that loud. Sno-stuff and mbrp? yes. It's not loud unless you make it loud. All can's pretty much sound the same at idle and low rpms

X2, SLP cans, nice crackle at idle and low rpm, at speed they are quiet!

MRBP and SNOWSTUFF cans are obnoxius, I dont see how guys can ride all day with these cans

Oh yea, H-Bday INDY

Indy, just had fun reading this whole thing with the husband! He has an '05 switchback - same color scheme. Have fun playing with your sled in your garage and out in the snow!
And happy birthday!

valves

indy ur valve plunger shafts could be bent there should be no ticking noise ive had two xcs and never had anoise this could have happend if the guy never cleaned valves i have heard of guys not cleaning them for thousands of miles and then when they tried too there was so much carbon build up they would not pull out through the ports forcfully tried and bent the shafts in the process

rp7x pm'ed me and said his 03 pro x 700 did it it's whole life and now has 9000 miles on it with no powervalve problems. I'll watch them closely and continually clean them, the noise ain't that loud, I'm sure i couldn't even hear it with a helmet on.

Darting may have been due to the snow conditions?

Also, before adjusting the front limiter strap, shim the skis, helps remove the darting!! This may be all that is needed to cure it.

I do realize snow conditions were bad (wet sloppy snow) but I hopped on my 700 and there was no darting at all. All of my turns were practically down to bair grass, and it stilll just glided over them without making an effort even turn. It seemed really tippy. He has the front springs loosened all the way up to the point u can compress the spring (not the shock) with your hand. I will probably tighten those up a bit too.

Izzat anything like bear grass?
(I hope ya din't think I'd let up on ya fer yer birthday! :))

lol, I noticed that after I clicked post but I had too many other threads to look at to edit it. There's 2 spellings, bear for the animal and bare for the meaning "gone" and I used bair????

Still a good idea to check to see when the sled is setting on a hard flat surface that the wearbar is actually elevated at the front, if not, shim the skis, will help in handling and provide better carbide wear/life.

Here's a link with more info on Ski shims:
http://www.hardcoresledder.com/foru...-discussion/497465-ski-shims-101-why-how.html

As I mentioned elsewhere, I hadn't put the shims on my sled, ran it that way for a while, in making adjustments for a push in the front I went to shim the skis as it was easily noticeable the front edge of the carbide was wearing, the rest looked untouched! Shimming the skis on my IQ chassis definatley helped.
