have u ever rode a nytro? It was a slug to ride back in 08 when it came out. didnt matter what it weighed, every other oem produced much better sleds that year and till this day. Nytro was a flop just like the fusion.

X2...the nytro had good acceleration, but little to no top end..would fall on its face at 85...and the front end was awful...handled like crap...not a great model for yami

I'm sure Doo will get right on trying to address the concerns of 1% of the sled buying crowd.

I understand that...and let's be honest...ski doo isn't going to release something that might hurt it's 850 sales

I'm impressed. It took Doo 15 years to figure out how to build a 150hp snowmobile. Lol

That weighs 90 to 100 lbs less than Apex/Attack??? It weighs less than the XS 1200. No 30 plus lb. counterweight/gear reduction here. Many Apex/Attack people have waited for Yamaha to do this. I too waited on Yami to build a well balance/handling, lighter weight 4 stroke snowmobile. Doo did, Yami did not. These will out sell the 200hp sleds, as the 150 hp has a much larger market to sell into imo. It could very well be that Doo has hit a sweet spot.

ATTACKMAN....sorry but I think the statement in bold is on the top of the list of "things a sledder would never say".....LOL

I'm saying it.

My Apex XTX is the most HP I need. Other's probably want even more. How much is enough? 500hp? Nothing against anyone who wants more. I was one of them for many years...about 15 years ago. For me...I just don't need more than what I have now. If the Apex goes away and Yamaha doesn't come out with a purebred Yamaha to replace it, I'm heading over to Doo. The 900 ace turbo looks like the right fit for me as of now. Things change, but for me it looks like a good alternative.

All is not lost for you non-Dooer's.

The 900T is only available in the 137" Renegade version, so your trail cloggin' non Doo 4 stroke junk will still be somewhat relevant. lol

Didn't polaris have a 750 Weber twin turdo that kicked out 150 hp like 10 years ago?....but the ace is truly new and amazing and filling a long awaited niche....LOL

When I saw the 900T was only in a 137 Rene, they insinuated it was so the sled can "hook up" due to power, I totally agree.
I have ridden a 137 Rene and a 129 MXZ (both 600's) down Trail 3 from the Mass City area to Houghton and anything over 60 MPH with the 129 and the rear is squirming due to loss of traction.
One fact is that Doo sells the 137 Rene for $100 more than the 129 (after discount of course) which makes it a no-brainer to blow the $100 as you will get all of it back at resale time.

Polaris Marketing is hilarious, they are trying to force Dealers (by way of crappy programs) to sell 2017 600 manual start XCR's for $8,390 when you could have bought that same leftover 2017 sled 330 days ago for $8,000 flat. Hello McFly WTH, get with it?

Yep, Poo did have one of those!!! Wow, a friend of mine had one of the turbos, and I have to say it looked impressive. But that was as far as impressive went for it. That pos had all kinds of problems. And all the time. As it would be one thing, or another, constantly. Just couldn't keep it running. Every trip it would give up on us. He took a real beating as he got rid of it after 3 years of let downs. It was a tank too, as in HEAVY. Maybe that is why Poo gave up on 4 strokes??? They don't have a 4 stroker today?????????????????

I find the 900T very interesting too something Yamaha needs to address with the end of the Apex line up. SW way too much 204HP unuseable HP for trails just doesn't make sense to me either. I like 150 HP 4s but lots of questions about the 900T. Was the 900 engine engineered from the get go for a turbo or is the T version engine beefed up for the added stress of the turbo??? How many pounds of boost do we have??.... less boost less power but less stress on the engine. No way would I buy 900T if the lifetime is like a 2s just no point to that. I used to be a doo sledder but blown 800s, flaking rings, frozen cranks were too much to continue on and bought a new Apex Atack in 2007 and on a 2012 Apex xtx now neither ever failed me in 22K miles so lots of questions regarding the doo 900T and reliability. I need to take a hard look at the 900T some what concerned about snow getting into the cold air intake on the hood in deep snow. What kind of skis?....Mixed reviews on their adjustable carbide and some Mags complained about ski lift on the 850 Gen 4. Doo does address these concerns as the years go by but lots of questions as I stated before I would leave my Apex XTX.

$15,500.....$500 more than an 850, so they ain't gonna sell a million of them, that's for sure.

I hope the 900T works out but I really would not know unless I ride it. I was not a fan of the 900 ACE and would not buy that sled.
For me, why would I want to buy any sled over the 850 when the 850 is faster, lighter, better handling and less expensive than the 900T?
The 850 is a machine better than the sum of it's parts as everything works together. It just feels right and makes you grin whether it is on the grade or in the twistys; if a sled can do that for a reasonable price and stay together a manufacturer has success.

Page 3 here tells Doo engineered the 900 engine to handle the added hp.

Latest version of the Apex...2011 on up.... is closer to 160 hp...998 nat. aspirated.

so that 900 is a trip?....my mistake (who cares, LOL)...that engine weight has to be close to the 'winder turbo at 200+ HP.....OOOOOH scary.... TOO MUCH POWER, SCOTTY!!!!...(Star Trek)

that g4 aceT looks W-I-D-E-.... narrow is where it's at....my AXYS proves that.,,,Just had the AXYS in the garage for some routine look over time.....What a joy to flip that thing over from side to side.....Must be the Yamamuscles I developed over the past decade....LOLOLOLOL......tomarow the Apex gets in the stall.....UUUUGH!....long story short....love the Yamaha motor and hate the initial low rpm vibration of the 800HO, but can't see myself going back to a 4 stroke for myself.

New Doo 900T looks like 4K less $, and 60 lbs. less than the SW. whitedust, you would never do with a Doo. Just too much bad blood left over there!!! And with all the conundrums on the ski/skags, cold air intake, the hood vents. Then on top of that there's all of that Rotax 4-stroke engine reliability thing. You didn't mention the risky R-motion rear skid??? But, you like your Apex, and that's good, many do. There should be many, many more happy miles you can get out of it yet too!!! Just ride and enjoy!!!

I've been very happy with my Apex XTX and at this time have no intention on changing my sled until something else interests me enough to make a move.
But, probably like most people who ride I'm always thinking about the "next" sled to buy so I try to stay informed with what's currently available. As it stands now no Yamaha sleds appeal to me and I've had nothing but Yamaha since 2001 except 2 Doos for my son when he first started out. Yamaha didn't have anything like a 500 fan cooled for my 13 year old son. All told I think I've had 13 Yamaha sleds in the last 17 years. So I'm definitely a Yamaha loyal customer.

Now to my point, I really like the low maintenance of the 4 stroke engine. If you put on between 1,500 - 3,000 miles per year how much more maintenance is there at the end of the season on a 2 stroke compared to a 4 stroke. Just talking about the motor...I pretty much change the oil and filter and call it a season with my 4 stroke motors. I have decided that I would probably move to a renegade but the question is would it be the 850 2 stroke or the 900 ace turbo?

Observant BRP riders saw this train coming since the Can-Am Maverick Turbo side-by-side models were launched based on the 900 ACE engine. However, Ski-Doo officials stressed that this version was specifically designed with snowmobiles in mind. Also important, 24 components in the 900 ACE engine was completely redesigned for the power boost – including the piston, cylinder head, connecting rod, crankshaft, exhaust valves, injectors, water pump, plenum, oil pump and much more.

The compact turbocharger itself is completely from Rotax. It features a small, nickel-alloy turbine that spins at speeds up to 200,000 RPM – or 3,333 revolutions per second – to create 12 PSI of boost pressure. Ski-Doo officials stressed that the positioning of the turbo – right next to the exhaust manifold and intake – helps eliminate turbo lag and create immediate response.

Designed to be robust, the turbocharger is oil lubricated and water cooled, with low-friction journal bearings and a shielded manifold. In fact, it has passed Rotax’s validation testing at temperatures up to 980 degrees Celsius. Ski-Doo officials said the 900 ACE Turbo engine package weighs the same as the 1200 4-TEC, but with 20 additional ponies, all while maintaining best-in-class fuel economy (up to 19.8 MPG). And, like Ski-Doo’s other four strokes, it will use Ski-Doo’s unique throttle-by-wire system called intelligent Throttle Control (iTC), giving the rider a choice in their machine’s acceleration curve between the Sport, Standard and Economy modes.

During a brief test ride in Quebec, we found the engine provided very impressive power with typical Rotax sewing-machine run quality and no noticeable turbo lag or waste gate noise. The new 950 ACE Turbo will be available in Renegade Adrenaline, X, X-RS and Enduro models plus the new Grand Touring Limited, all in the new REV Gen4 wide-body layout (more on that in a bit).

Little more info on this. Would really like to know how much boost a tune would allow.
