Legal Weed in Michigan

Sorry, not you.... the pothead.

First off, I'm not a pothead. Second, I never said its ok to smoke pot at work. Not sure how you got that?

I said I like to drink beer, but I don't go to work under the influence. The point being, just because someone likes to smoke pot, doesn't mean they're going to go to work stoned.

I understand the room in jails, and the tax revenue it will generate but if it becomes legal, as an employer you come to work smelling of pot....done and if it will be legal to purchase it how about all of the people on entitlement programs, if it is legal to use and legal to buy, I guess if i'm footing your food, medical, housing expenses there should be no reason to do testing because if you can afford to buy that (now that its legal) I guess you don't need the tax funded programs anymore, I don't understand why it isn't that way now . I guess I think its a bad idea personally, how are you going to determine how high someone is? and now we are going to have to allow people to go out and smoke some bud on break? not here, legal or not, im not going to tolerate it. but im sure sooner than later it will be and we will all be expected to look the other way, make new rules just like we have been doing for the new generation. Im glad I grew up when I did when there was expectations, repercussions and accountability for actions or inactions. To me its just crazy how things are changing, so no I think its a bad idea.

No, you don't have to let employees have a bud break, just like they can't have an alcohol break. Impaired is still impaired.

Certainly this will create a lot of new issues and problems from top to bottom that need to be addressed. The new law(s) will go into effect in a few weeks so I'm sure LE will have their hands full dealing with users in public or possession. But we prob wont see any " Open " signs well into 2020 when the new program is rolled up , er I mean out. They have set up rules that sure seem generous when it comes to possession amounts
2 oz a person , per day can be bought and on you at any time. And a household is allowed up to 10 oz in a home. Man O' Man who needs that much stash ? esp at hundred$ per oz.

The law requires implementation within 12 months.

The whole legalization thing is uncharted territory.Expect workplace based challenges in the courts, workmans comp issues,etc.etc.

Not uncharted, Michigan is the 10th state to legalize it. Should be pretty well tilled soil.

We created somewhat of a monster with alcohol and cigarettes...both kill people to varying degrees. Now we want to add another drug to the equation.
The stuff stays in your fatty tissue for weeks. You can smoke one day, and have it in your system 2-3 days later. This just seems like a disaster waiting to happen.
Oh, it'll happen...and there will be future regrets.

I've seen people fail a random drug/piss test a whole lot more days out than 2, or 3.

Ezra has a great point! My brother lives in Washington state and the average user in his community is a very highly educated group! They don't eat salt, sugar and rarely abuse or even drink alcohol. This is not the city of Seattle but it's a really big state!

Freedom of choice is a pretty nice thing, in my opinion. All I had this evening were two of the KBC's with chips and football as if it were any of your business. Most days my drug of choice is cross country skiing, 5 hours worth today at Swedetown. Enjoy whatever it is you do, but please don't tell me what to do.

Miller is interested in brewing pot beer. I know Molsen already is brewing their version and Miller doesn’t want to miss the market. From some of the fears expressed in this thread one would think Canada is doomed and will rot from within as a country. Give me a break everything will work out just fine.

whitedust, is not Miller part of Molson/Coors brewing??? I was dumb founded several yeas back while riding in Canada to find that Coors Light was the most popular beer everywhere we journeyed. Tap, can, or bottle. Ask any bar tender, and the reply would be, "Coors Light". It seemed as it used to be Labatts, Labatts Light, Molson or Bud???

has anyone thought about this?
we all know second hand smoke can effect others NOT smoking
they are already making all sorts of things with pot in it, from food to beverages
for all those that cannot use due to there job requirements
does anyone feel worried about getting pot in there system from others, in either again second hand smoke and or ingesting something you didn't even know you did

I personally am more worried about WHY so many people today feel a need to use drugs period
it seems so many want a alternative life than the one they have and are looking for ways to forget there current problems and or ??
the lack of motivation I see in most people today, is scary low
I am NOT sure how pot will help this at all
I am NOT a pot user nor desire to be(nor any other illegal/legal drugs)

wanting an escape from your present reality, doesn't ever solve anyone's problems
in most cases it just makes things worse and digs you in a deeper hole
as well, lets face it, drugs are NOT cheap
if anyone is unhappy with there life/living arrangements wasting money on a short term effect, isn't solving anyone's problem

since about 50% of the country seems to be into illegal drugs(based on things I have read)
I find it hard to see any legalization of drugs NOT passing if ever voted on, as of the 50% that use, there has to be a decent percentage that would IF they could on the other side

just cause more want something , doesn;'t always mean its GOOD for us all IMO
society IMO seems to be slipping in the wrong direction, and I think we should be trying ti find ways to curb it, over adding something to things that might make it worse
JUST my 2 cents

As in the city he lives in is small, not as big as Seattle. He lives in Port Townsend, sleepy little town filled with retired executives/engineers from Boeing. Many of them from MI Tech. My point being, they are not the Man Bun wearing dweebs from Seattle that many people think of when you mention Washington State stoners.

Unfortunately I am not a Pot Head, my employer frowns on that.

Abe I really don’t know but I think you’re right. When Annheiser Bush was bought by Interbev I gave up on who owns what beer companies in the USA. Miller filed for something not sure what but they wanted the ability to brew pot beer. Could be Molsen asked them to do so knowing it would be legal in Canada. Everyone needs to get over thinking the only way to enjoy pot is by smoking that is soooo old school and probably the least used method now days. Some of you need to visit a dispensary to get your feet on the ground regarding current use methods and available products. I know I was impressed with the professionalism.

I really don't see why we need another vice when we as a society cannot control the two vices we already have. But most people want it so I guess they vote it in. So the druggie get their pot, can we legalize prostitution for the sex crazed. Talk about tax revenue! After all, it is natural and way less harmful to your body than pot.

I don't think infidelity would go up because there are only so many that cheat now, and the non-cheaters would still not cheat. Also, what would sex be a gateway too, more sex? Beastiality? Just a thought. Why not go all the way to moral collapse in the name of tax revenue? The mob will shortly be put out of business by the government.

Jack Daniels has now screwed up their dam good flavor with new concocted combinations!!! However, you might be wise to think this thru thoroughly??? As the 2 together may throw you clear over the TOP!!!!!!!!!!!!! Remember, "Every man needs to know their limitations"!!! Or, perhaps, it would create, or transform you into a all new snobuilder??? Such as what happened to the GRINCH??????????????? Woo wee!!!
