So far today, I've watched two feedings. All three apear healthy. #1 looks to be behaving better, letting the others eat without attacking them too much. Still funny watching them wobble around!!

WTG - your right about how much bigger #1 is compared to the others.

They grow up so fast :( LOL!!

snowbuff - makes me nervous to watch them now that I know there's the potential of carnage!? About another week for the Iowa hatchlings?

Thanks WTG, I was wondering when the Iowa ones were going to hatch. I never knew when that was going to happen.

Carnage!!?? - It looks like #3 is holding his own pretty good!! I sure hope they will all be fine.

I agree, No. 1 seems to be much better. I was a little worried there about that one he was so mean to the others. I asked the moderator on friday if one eaglet will kill another and she said it can happen, but its not common, and usually only in a nest where there is not enough food, stated that this nest had plenty and not to worry, their behavior is normal and all 3 are doing great!

mrsski - glad you asked the mods. I read it was gloom and doom for the youngers! And that the parents will even sit back and not intervene. But that makes sense...it's all about food.

alot of people on friday were asking questions about the oldest being so mean. The moderator also stated that once #1 had enough food, he/she would sit back and let the others eat, as you stated, its all about food! Buttonshoe was the moderator, and she also stated that the mom would intervene at times by pecking the aggressor lightly on top of the head. Ya know, I find the forum on the right to be just as interesting as watching these little guys and their parents!

I live around 30 miles south of the Decorah Iowa nest and have watched them from the road that goes by there nest site.Really a huge nest. Also does anyone have the link to the cam that you can watch the walleyes on some river?I think it was posted here on J.D last year but I did not save it,and there is a cam on a humming bird nest in California that has chicks it in now that is fun to watch.

hothy - I've had some folks tell me they've stopped by there to watch. That's cool you've seen it up close and personal. I've seen an eagle not 10' from my head so I can only imagine how massive the nest is.

Sorry, I don't have the walleye link...did ya google it?

And I have to laugh at my reaction to the hummingbird camera "Ooooooooo! Hummingbirds are COOL!"
