I just went through the Ford/Dodge/GM decision process back in October and can share a few observations.
Be sure to try a few evasive maneuvers at close to highway speed during your test drive, I found that most of the Fords (Platinum, Limited) were too "tippy" for my driving, the FX4 was acceptable, The Dodge Sport was the same as the Laramie and Longhorn which were better than the FX4, The GMC Sierra All-terrain handled the best but rode the worst.
Ford has best load capacity for the class I was looking at, but I tow more than I haul.
The ECO boost is good but Ford only has a 5 year 60,000 mile powertrain warranty, I would get a 5.0 because of that. Ram and GM have a 5 year 100,000 mile powertrain warranty. The 5.3 is adequate for most driving and gets pretty good mileage on a level highway. The Ram Hemi is fun but thirsty, if looking for mileage get a 2013 V6 with the 8 speed.
Current GMs are dated inside (updated for 2014), Ford and Ram both good with SYNC and UConnect but if you are not getting navigation, uconnect, etc then not as much of an issue.
I ended up with a 2012 Ram 1500 4 x 4 Laramie Crewcab, 3.92 gears, the Hemi and lots of extras to replace a 2007 Avalanche LTZ, a big factor was price, the Sierra Crewcab Z71 was cheapest but too much like the Avalanche it was replacing, the Ford CrewCab FX4 was close to $4k higher ($3K sticker) than the Ram all of them with the same options (uplevel sound, navigation, leather, htd/cooled seats, upgraded wheel/tires, sunroof, posi, larger gas tank, tow package, back-up camera).
If I could have got a Ford dealer to deal, I may have ended up with the Ford as I liked it as much as the Ram.
