Looking at a new truck...

Have a 2010 Dodge Ram Laramie & love it. 390 hp is hard not to love. In 2010 Ford & Chevy were both 310 hp. Have never had a single problem with my truck. Last truck was a 2002 Dodge ram with 4.7. Thing ran so good I kept it & use it as a work truck. Has 120k & no mechanical issues just maintenance. Factory battery lasted 9.5 years!!!!

My brother has a 2008 Avalance with the 5.3 & 50k on the clock & having all kinds of engine problems. Goes into the stabiltrack reduced power mode. Has been to the dealer 3 times & they have replaced lifters & throttle position sensor without correcting the problem long term. Each time they have the truck for 3-4 days.

Good thing I have a Ram so we can go sledding without having to worry about breaking down.

Think the last good looking Silverado's were around 2004. Since then they get uglier every year.

Well I think I going to get the Sport. I am looking for some info on the Mopar Accessories.

1st the hard fiberglass tonneau cover.
Does any one have one?
Is it easy to remove?
What are the steps.

My current tonneau cover once opened you pop the struts off then lift the back just a little more the the front slides out of the hooks, and you done. I looking for something that easy. I have found after market but the Mopar is less with the installation.

2nd the bed rug liner
Is this one piece like the brand BedRug liner is?

Also does anyone know who the real manufacture is of both of these products?

I don't think lofsfire or anybody else on this site gives a flying rats a$$ about you or your biased opinions. He has made up his mind, about what he is buying as stated in post #63. It is his hard earned money and he can buy what ever he damn well pleases, regardless of what you or anybody else thinks. Carry on.......

There is only ONE problem with these statements......."YOU" did not start this thread so this is not about "YOU" or your biased opinions. If want to to start your own thread about "government bail outs" or "non government controlled dealers" have at it......Cheers...

No I did not start this thread .but I use my Biased opinions to make all my monetary decisions.
I base those decisions on if it is a quality product.was it made in the USA and is that corporation sucking off the hind tit of the tax payer .
the more money involved the more I look in to it .
but that dose not mean I don't look at the tag on a pr of jeans and I do go the extra mile to buy everything I can .
if U dont your life your forefathers sacrifices U can do what U want with them.
have a good night comrade

"GM builds great trucks too and are on a par with any others regardless of whether you hold them liable for the bail out and while Ford did not take money (they were in "trouble BEFORE both GM and Chrysler...so they got lines of credit only months before the big melt down of credit) Ford sat at the same table as the other two companies and was ready to accept money if their own lines of credit were used up. Nobody knew just how deep and long the "we aren't lending money to anyone" process was going to last from the banks. I believe when you add GMC and Chevy the sales numbers are close to or rivals FORD. 5.3 engine is a good one if a bit under powered and has had a pretty stellar record."

Re-typed for EZRA with permission from ME! JD POWER rates trucks based upon fewest troubles and FORD didn't make the list. Chevy/GMC and Toyota topped it. Ford builds a great truck, but so does Chrysler...times are a changing EZRA...jury is still out on your expensive FORD!

many of us buy based on personal experiences. I could not keep a transmission in the last two Chevy's I had. The last 1 was on it second transmission and left me stranded 4 months ago when the second 1 went. Have never had any troubles with any of the four jeeps I've owned and actually still have two. I have owned Ford since 92 for towing and have never had a problem with any of them. And the Fords by far were abused the most by me, except for the H1. The only problem I had with the H 1, had to do with that dang GM diesel.
I grew up a die hard General Motors guy as well as my dad. He only drives Ford now.

Ezra, how have the past GM's you had treat you? I seem to recall every time you talked about them the p.o.s followed

Not sure how the air springs/ride works on the dodge, but if the truck is not eqiuped with an air dryer for getting the moisture out of the system in the winter, GOOD LUCK! I have a set of firestone ride right air bags in the rear of my truck, LOVE EM! but in the winter you know the air is cold inside the bags when you drive it with out a trailer on. My opinion, if you are buying a truck to use it as a truck... get a diesel! I pull a 40' enclosed snowmobile trailer with mine and it handles it awsome! But going up the highway I get next to a 1/2 or 3/4 ton gasser pulling three and four place trailers and they always look like they are shinning for racoons with the headlights. As for ford or dodge... fords 5.0 motor is new, probably going to have some issues. dodge... with all the tranny issues that company has had do you really want one that has to shift 8 times, along with a turn dial electric shifter that could go out very easily??? Just my 2 cents worth.

Ok, did not expect all that. Honestly, I'd love to get another Ford but I can get more for the money with the Dodge. There is just to much of a price difference this time. I rather have the cash to put into a sled or go do something with my kids. Considering I just took the family to Disney 2 weeks ago, the money saved, is going in the bank. I still have not official order it yet. Trying to make sure I can get the extras I need with the features I want first. I post when when I do.

You don't have to order one...but if you can find the right truck get it. I think that Chrysler still gives the dealership a nice discount on any truck that has been built for 6 months or more in an effort to move it out of inventory. Last one I bought in 2007 I ended up getting the truck for $1,000 below dealer invoice on one that had been in stock for just that many months. Lots of dealers tried to match it but they could not do it because of the pass thru to the dealership. Also some dealerships offer a life time warranty on the drive train...might be worth investigating. Warranties can save your bacon if you get the truck that has issues....and all makers have them...ALL of them.

Lastly, and this takes some serious constitution...do your shopping then WAIT until the last day of the month to buy, like in January 31....as every dealership builder go by monthly numbers and there is always a few that need to make a quota and will put deals together below invoice to make them on the last day and sometimes late in the afternoon even. If you hit a dealer that has a big month...that won't happen, but every single dealership is different and they all are trying to hit quotas. Enough said about that. Since some of the money the dealership makes is in the financing of the machine, you need to be at the top of your game in that department...research, research and do some more research. Buying services such as USSA (you don't have to be military to get this anymore....) routinely get you $500 on the price and the lowest interest rate. After all, you can get a great buy, but if the dealership gets you for an extra one percent on financing, for 4 or more years, you gave back a pretty good chuck of bread.

Good luck....and get what you want! Life is too short not to enjoy it and buying a new truck is one of the simple pleasures in life. Nothing quite like it

Bought a new 2012 5.0 FX4 yesterday for $10128.00 off listed sticker. It was the last 2012 on the lot and they wanted it gone. Loaded up with everything except nav for $36000.00. Up here they are pushing the ecoboosts hard. For better or worse. I will gladly drive the old tech for a few years. Even threw in running boards and a bed mat.

I don't think u want the eco any way a bud got one at the same time I got my 5.0 his has been in the shop more than on the road.I think they are going to be buying it back next week and he is getting the 5.0.
I always buy the old stock at the end of the yr I got my truck like 3mo ago and got just over 9g off listed sticker.
I think it is crazy to buy a new model when the old is sitting next to it with the only diff being tinted head lights for 9g more

Both of you make great point about price, how to negotiate and looking at last years models like Grub did and if I could find that deal I would get the F150. I think that is why this has been so hard for me. I have a friend that is a Ford salesman but there is only so much he can do, and he understands why I'm going with the RAM. I can get Supplier Pricing from both, but at Dodge has another deal going that works even better for fireman and cops. I can order the 2013 for $35,300 out the door. That is $12,000 off MSRP sticker price, which is allot less than dealer invoice. Funny thing is it would cost me $400 more to take out of dealer stock. Bad part is I lose all specials they have going, but even with losing the extras its a better deal b/c it so much off.

Correct, I do have to order one should take 6-8 weeks to get. Plan is to order Monday.
