You don't have to order one...but if you can find the right truck get it. I think that Chrysler still gives the dealership a nice discount on any truck that has been built for 6 months or more in an effort to move it out of inventory. Last one I bought in 2007 I ended up getting the truck for $1,000 below dealer invoice on one that had been in stock for just that many months. Lots of dealers tried to match it but they could not do it because of the pass thru to the dealership. Also some dealerships offer a life time warranty on the drive train...might be worth investigating. Warranties can save your bacon if you get the truck that has issues....and all makers have them...ALL of them.
Lastly, and this takes some serious constitution...do your shopping then WAIT until the last day of the month to buy, like in January 31....as every dealership builder go by monthly numbers and there is always a few that need to make a quota and will put deals together below invoice to make them on the last day and sometimes late in the afternoon even. If you hit a dealer that has a big month...that won't happen, but every single dealership is different and they all are trying to hit quotas. Enough said about that. Since some of the money the dealership makes is in the financing of the machine, you need to be at the top of your game in that department...research, research and do some more research. Buying services such as USSA (you don't have to be military to get this anymore....) routinely get you $500 on the price and the lowest interest rate. After all, you can get a great buy, but if the dealership gets you for an extra one percent on financing, for 4 or more years, you gave back a pretty good chuck of bread.
Good luck....and get what you want! Life is too short not to enjoy it and buying a new truck is one of the simple pleasures in life. Nothing quite like it
