After riding my 08 Apex LTX , I'm changing back to Polaris next year.
I'd do it this year but no snow around here and been up north enough this year.
Tired of bouncing around, darting, bottoming out and turning a tank around corners, I'm done with Yamaha.
I rode my son's friends AXYS 800 and I'm sold on it. Only change is that I'm going with the 600.

Have you ridden an Apex XTX with EPS?? Far better machine than the 06-10 apexes..I love mine..The Axys is a fine machine...buy what you like.

A buddy of mine has a 600 AXYS. He says he cannot get the inside ski to lift no matter what he does. Good problem to have.

I can't get mine to have any inside ski lift either. The ride is awesome! The new rear skid is on par with the rMotion now and the front is the best in the business, as it has been for years.

Hope you're proficient at engine rebuilds......not to worry though, you'll get plenty of practice............

How many rebuilds on the new 800 HO are you personally aware of? I've heard of very few issues with the new engine and one guy has 4,900 miles on his. Many with 2,500+ miles and no issues. I think this engine is much more reliable. This 800 rebuild crap is getting old as it is old news. They seem to have that problem behind them since the 2013 model year.

The 800 rebuild crap is as old to you as it is hearing about how crappy Yamahas are to us. You pretty much make the case for Budda2 if the benchmark is 2500+ miles with no issues or all the way up to 4900 on a buddies.

Who said that was a benchmark? Quit putting words in my mouth!! I'm just stating this new engine is holding up much better than the 2010-2012 800's, as have the old 800's in the 2013's and 2014's. It seems the 800 issue is behind Polaris. The difference is Polaris has come out with a new and improved engine, what has Yamaha come up with lately, especially with the chassis? Don't get me wrong, I love their engine.

Didn't put words in your mouth, you quoted mileage ran with no issues. That's a benchmark to me. The point was, you are tired of hearing about 800 engine issues, don't you think it gets old hearing the same old tired stuff about Yamahas? Lots of us ride them and are happy with them.
Didn't Yamaha just do a big program with Cat? That's a pretty big undertaking. EPS doesn't count? They haven't done much to the Apex but with as long as it's been in production I don't see any reason why they would. It will probably be replaced soon.

And nobody on here would EVER have already had this discussion offline with an internet pal and just be giving him "da biddness"........that would NEVER happen, right? ;)

You could say that the basic yamaha delta box II chassis has been around for 9 years with the mono shock rear skid but it has gone through refinements just like the 2016 Doos.
The mono does a good job controlling trail junk to the point of most other rear skids.
When the trails turn to crap you will hear the owners of all brands whine.
The biggest knock on the yams was heavy steering in some conditions.
EPS solves that problem perfectly.

The jury will be out on the AXYS 800 for a couple years. Just like the etecs are proving there worth I think any engine needs to be tested in the consumers hands .

Haven't been on here in a while, but I'm itching to spring check a sled and wondered if you'll had any Yami info...guess we'll know in a few hours about all this.

Brian....being a smartazz again are we? :) Just like a Viper was not meant to be an Apex, a 1200 Doo was never meant to beat or even stay with an Apex.

Will Yamaha disappoint....AGAIN?

I agree The 1200s strength is its ride and handling, but one call to bill cudney and you have yourself 150+hp thumper that an apex would have all it can handle on the lake

lets see what yamaha has to offer. Anyone know what time?

You'd never know it... talking to some of the doo clowns..."best 4 stroke ever"...I don't know how Yamaha disappointed you...but you also seem to be rather negative towards them...whatever...I love mine...and a friend of mine bought a Vector last February (from Pat's)...loves it...he rode polaris for 40 years..he said the vector was the best machine he has ever owned.......I'm so happy I can turn the key and go, and not worry about stuff like I did with my cat (and some previous Doos I owned)....hey...ride what you like..but I'm not gonna let doo clowns throw barbs at what I ride....lol

Easy on the Doo "clowns". I ride a Doo and could not care less what you ride. If it makes you smile when you ride it and you are enjoying it, that is all that is important. Can we please stop the name calling or grouping everyone that rides a brand into one big pile. There are idiots that ride every brand just like there are nice guys that ride every brand.

Pretty sure Yam will have factory turbo Viper which to me is just another flavor Viper not much interest for me unless includes eps too. Will know in a few minutes 11AM central if we can get thru.

Comparing a 4 cyl 160 hp to a 3cyl 130 hp sled in a drag is, how do i say it, a little Feeble. The 1200 and viper are direct competitors. An ecu re flash and a header on the 1200. Hold your arms in!!
