Poos Problems

You've said that before, but that price still seems insane. When my Fusion blew up (carb boot), it was about the same price, but that was an entire rebuild (crank and all).

It is insane. I can post the estimate if you want which, like your Fusion, was basically an entire rebuild, crank and all. They didn't want any future liability.
Remember, this is a Polaris dealer. $84.00 per hour labor plus parts.

I don't need proof - just agreeing that it is insane!

Sad thing about these is, I contacted several do-it-yourself sled mechanics around here and none of them wanted to touch it or even call me back when I gave them the lowdown.

They don't want the hassle of fixing then goes down again too soon & take the risk on their shoulders. I remember when dealers would not take poo 900s in trade did not want the risk on trade. Crying shame for those buyers & seems pwolfy had problems trading in his poo 800 too this season. Terrible position to be in been there done that with doo. I'm done with 2s too scary for a high milage trail rider!

for the hard core steep n deep guys I believe it will be worth it because even though the poo 800 is 20 horse less it will still outclimb anything else and that is addicting. Us hard core guys are smacking trees and tearing the machine up so we expect to dig into the machine and if the price is getting into the motor i believe that is reasonable for the ultimate powder sled. Now if you are not living to ride powder and hills than it may not be the sled for you until the fix is here, and maybe it's here now, I don't know but think it's is not. I personally do not mind digging into my sled and I go back and forth on the M or the pro.

That reminds me, although slightly off topic, the guy that bought the Dragon said the left A-Arms were F-ed up. This happened while bush riding and taking a tree on for battle. Tree is still growing and I paid the, to be un-named dealer, $330 to fix it.
Just goes to show you what these freakin dealers know.
Find a good one and stick with it. I thought I did but....

Yes fortunatley I'm done with off trail except unplowed FRs & lakes but yes hardcore powder hounds need big power 800 2s & don't seem to mind wrenching but for trails 4s is much btter bet for big milage riders. 600s 2s seem to do better for trails but still not in same league as 4s.:)

I don't know. The more I see these things are getting dialed in, the more I wonder if they aren't the answer to everyone's problems? Cheaper than a Pro, lighter than a pro, more maneuverable than a Pro, and 4 stroke reliability!

It gets pretty slick around the 5 minute mark.

Looks fun but I wonder how they do on the deep snow days. That snow looks pretty setup. And the one with the cam seemed like it was bogging down alot? Probably alot easier to side hill in set up snow.

I just checked prices and they are definitely NOT cheaper than a PRO. 5500-6500$ for the timbersled kit, and msrp for a yammy 450 is $8500.

I also looked, at ready to go bike according to timbersled weighs approx 300lbs. The stock bike puts about 1/3 the hp of a 800. With a ready to ride pro at 500-520lbs. Better lb/hp ratio with a sled.

Dave, 06 Switchback 600? Check and make sure your carb boots are good. You have to take them off to really look at them. Even if they have been replaced since new, check them anyways.

Those snow bikes are way cool looking. I would have to spend a few days on one before I dropped that kind of coin. I could always use a 450 ,but 6g for the kit is a hard one to grasp. Did you notice he didn't shift very much?

I honestly had no idea new bikes were drawing that kind of money. The last time I looked at a new dirt bike, I think they were just creeping up on 4 grand. lol I guess they're just like everything else though, you have to pay for the technology. Even so, I think if you factor in things like cost of operation, no more $10k trailer needed, $60k diesel truck unnecessary, you can use it year round, etc, etc.

Throw 2 or 3 of them in the back of your F150, drive out west with your buds and ride for a week on ten gallons of gas. Come home to the snowless Midwest, throw your tires on and head to your favorite MX park. You would still be money ahead over a new mountain sled. That is, if they are actually as fun to ride, which I have no idea, but I'm starting to wonder?????

Yup, 2006 600 Carb. Runs great now, but....

I plan to go through it even with the low miles she's got. Just don't want to deal with the airbox issue. I'll be seeking aftermarket opinions when that happens.

The pistons are the same. Made by a different manufacturer but they are still WAY WAY out of specs. If you go to RK Tek's website and look for pistons for you 800 do you see a different piston for the 09' and the 13'? NO! you don't Einstein. I know in 13' they beefed up the piston and cylinder skirts but my question to you is why would they have to? Because their pistons are so far outta spec that they will beat themselves into an oval and eventually shoot the skirt through the bottom of the engine. So yeah, the pistons are still the same....PERIOD! I kept track. As far as Redneck still making the gizmo (or the enhancement kit) as I think they may call it now. I've emailed them a few times in the last couple months and gotten no response. So if they are still in business, they have really bad practices, or the rumors going around snowest about them being out of business are true. Call it what you want but I haven't been able to get ahold of them for their $3.20 worth of plumbing from Menards that they sell for a 1000% mark up.

Rk Tec and Snowest!!!put the coolaid down.....as for Redneck has to do with Lawsuits and who owns what but they are not gone!!rkteck has lead alot people down the wrong road!!google that!

Here's what they can do on a side hill.

And here's what they can do in powder.

Pretty impressive if you ask me! The thing I'm most curious about is what it feels like when you lay one over and whip through a powder turn? If its not similar to a sled or even a bike in sand or mud, I don't thing I could live with out that powder carve/power slide feeling.

yes that air box sucks .but not bad at all once u gut it then u can reach in and make sure boots are on.
the slp pipe woke up the 07 rmk 600 I had.
before gutting the air box on that 07 it took no less than 5 tries to get that p o s air box back on. chock that air box up to 1 more poo prob
