Poos Problems

The 09800 is a power house if it will run, once fixed like Nicks than lookout,,, is what he is saying and I agree. Boondocker82 and Byrn71 are very serious and capable riders, not for the faint of heart where these goons go! I mean goons in a good way!

Lenny - Just because these boys haven't burned down, doesn't mean that the motor didn't have problems. I don't care how good these good goon riders are, if theirs are still going, that's great! I wish mine was! I consider myself a serious and capable rider and have tail grabbed your *** with the Dragon yet, it still took a crap!
My point is, Don't buy an 09!
He wanted facts.
Fact is, mine blew.
Fact is, your Good Goon buddies haven't (yet) and I hope they don't.

Anyone who wants to bash the 09' 800 motor is more than welcome to ride my 143 HP ;) Assault. And if you still feel that it only has 143 HP's your down right nuts. Although I did take the time to make mine reliable (as stated in previous post) and push about 175 horse. I'll let anyone of you ride it and ride it hard cause at the end of the day I guarantee I put that thing through more **** than you will. Then at least when you come on JD and spew fico matter we will all know your full of SH**!

not my numbers Dyno tech # 2013 fresh from the box.they must be full of s h t as well as sno tech who also had all 4 oem 800s on the dyno for the 2013 shoot out guess that dyno was also faulty.

Actually mine did blow up. That is why I stated after taking the steps necessary to make the motor reliable. I put 3 top ends on in 1700 miles. What I am saying is that people shouldn't be afraid of these machines. A monkey could put the "fix" kit on one of these and have a much more powerful and reliable machine. The 3 top ends that I did was the stock one, the recall one (which failed) , and the "fix" kit. The fix kit alone produces 10-15 horse, plus I have the SLP pipe and highflow intake, and a PC-V. And Dave_B you have no idea how hard these things can rip. Burn71 has a 13' pro for the record.

I guess you last post just proved the whole point.

"Actually mine did blow up. That is why I stated after taking the steps necessary to make the motor reliable. I put 3 top ends on in 1700 miles."

Who the F wants to do that? 99% of us buy our sleds to ride them. Who wants to go through all that crap to keep it going?
You got skills! Congrats! Brag all you want!
Point is, the motor has problems as the OP intended to state! You just solidified the whole argument.

BTW: I know how hard they can rip! I HAD one! I liked it! I miss it!

I will buy another one and I have stated that before. It's just not in the budget right now. My little baby 600 Switchback will have to do for a couple of years.

I'm glad you have the time, knowledge and money to keep fixing and "improving" yours. I wish I was in that position but I'm not.

Mine blew up and I bought a "backup"! I would love to ride with you with the 600. I can keep up as well as anybody. Who knows. I may have to tow you in at the end of the day so you can fix yours, again!

A sticky? Seriously??.........LMFAO!!!

I agree! What is the criteria for a sticky? The Make A Wish sled and how to post pictures seem like good candidates, but this? Certainly there are more viewed posts than this one.

Not sure how it became a "sticky", as I was asleep (or trying) when it happened. Unstuck now.

Okay, let's add some credibility to this thread if it drags out. Let's get some facts and figures up on just how bad this 09 800 engine is. I know of way more Doo 800R motor meltdowns and way more diamond drive issues then Poo 800 meltdowns. I know of 3 poo melt downs all from this site. Also what was the cause of such meltdown. Carb boots? piston failure? ring (s) failure? owner neglect? oil issues? etc. The Cat guys opinions do not count, they just jump in because of thier own insecurities with the color orange and sissy green, and to take eyes off the defective products they buy. Facts would be good, they add value to Johns site, whinning about not being mechanically inclined adds little value. Bashing takes away. I want numbers, names, documentations or it never happened. Dave B. your cleared, I seen the pics. lol

I don't think anyone is saying that the motor doesn't have problems, if you read this thread (lengthy I know) we already established that the 800 has problems. There is no argument to solidify. I would love to ride with you. I enjoy riding with anyone that can push me a little harder and that's why I ride with Lenny!! Set up a date and time this winter, I'm looking forward to it.

Go back and read your post 517.
You make it sound like the best thing since snow was invented. Then you say you've already had to rebuild it three times. That's what I was getting at. I would prefer not to rebuild my motor every 600 miles. But that's just me.
See ya at Lenny's! Hopefully!
