Hey Skylar, take a close look at your extended warranty, if it is anything like my two year warranty it stinks! Read the small print 2 years OR 3000 miles, which ever comes first. So my 2 year warranty was shot the first year. They say I'm not a normal rider (say what?, what's normal?) I bought it to ride it not to just wash/wax it and look at it. THINK SNOW! By the way my last ride of the season in the UP was May 12th.

Ray, mine has the extended 4 year warranty, not sure if it said anything about how many miles, I will have to check.

Nice job on the last ride being May 12th, you suck. LOL.

P.S. When is the new Viper set to arrive?

There are two different warranty possibilities. The Polaris Star warranty is probably what you have Skylar. (same as mine). I do not see a mileage clause. My dealer also has a warranty program thru an independent company that "works" with Polaris. I think that is the one they push if the lesser 1 to 2 warranties are only available on the model one buys. My dealer said, "We make more money selling you the independent Co. warranty, but the Polaris Star warranty is faster reponse time, better coverage and easier for us to work with if an issue comes up". I like the honesty over money factor of the dealers I buy from. Keeps me coming back.

I had the 4 year PolarisStar warranty on the Dragon and it was over two years old when they replaced the CPU. I'm sure it had over 3,000 miles, too.
No waiting. It was fixed in four days.

In 09 the polaris star warranty was good for up to 5000 miles per year. They changed that in a hurry for the 800 engine....

pr1. you have recommended me to the dealer you use. I inquired in the spring about the dealer in GR, you said the one in GV was more reliable.

I have a 12 switchback assault and have the option remaining to buy the extended warranty, i am going to buy one. They told me opposite what they told you. I was told, the independent warranty has faster response time, haggles less with them and is in general better. He also said that there is no cost to make a claim, whereas a claim with the polaris extended warranty will cost $50 every time i bring it in. I didn't ask him which one they make more money off of, and really i don't care, but the none polaris one was about $80 more. I think I already need work done on my e-starter so, it may pay to go with the none polaris one. funny that a place you speak highly of would tell two people two different things. i just want the best service available, that's it.

my buddy just took his '10 800 polaris motor to indy dan near the twin cities. he has already seen 2 '13 800s go down for the same reasons every other 800 has gone down. he does put a 3 year warranty on his rebuilds.

well first off the dealer you're describing is not the dealer that told me that. I buy from 2 dealerships. the Dealer that told me that is where I got my sled is peacock. My salesman's name is Mike and the service department and Mike both said that the polaris star warranty is way better To deal with for them than the independent. As far as e start well mine was the battery. Wear item.

The GR dealer, never bought a sled there. Also never used warranty for anything yet. One service bulletin and battery in two years. I wouldn't be concerned about the 50 dollar deductible it's a polaris. I'm not sure if greenville and baldwin dealerships have different independent companies they work with. the 50 dollar deductible is so you don't drag it in every monday morning for something ridiculous.

Ok i got it, do you ever go to nelson's in greenville? they told me the independent warranty was better than the polaris warranty.

the polaris star warranty can be used at any dealership that sells polaris.I am not sure about the independent warranty companies. If they do that. my Rmk pro came from nelson's and it is serviced by peacock. peacock is near my up north place.

if you ride in Montana Colorado Utah Idaho, Wyoming Or the Upper Peninsula I would do the Polaris star warranty. accepted at every dealer.

The 4 yr. came as part of the purchase package on "snow check" sleds. The 4 yrs. was offered to build consumer confidence. Poo knows that was needed to sell sleds again after to earlier 800 issues. They should have stuck to 700's also. But the new 600's are claimed by every sled magazine to be stronger if not as strong as the older 700's.

i have the same sled and was thinking of buying the last two years of the 4 year warranty. Do you have any idea how much the extended warranty cost per year to buy after the original purchase ? i would like some numbers before i call my dealer.

There was a problem and it should be acknowledged and discussed. There is no need for the venom. Just input from those who have had problems and, as the thread has developed, those who haven't.
Not many legitimate accounts for either case. Just a bunch of crap as far as I'm concerned.
