This week I was able to sheath the front of the garage, set the beams, set the joists on one half, and put the decking down on that half as well. Happy with the progress, hope to get the other half done and some walls up this week.

pclark its hard to tell just how close to your house it is but is there any concern of snow running/sliding off roof? onto roof of house? drifting along rooftop of house and garage? I apologize if Im not seeing it right .

The house is 6ft from the new garage, with asphalt shingles the snow will stay on the roof unless I shovel it off, which I have no intention of doing. I actually need some snow to stack up on the that side of the foundation to insulate it for the time being until we attach the garage to the house. It's complicated to imagine what will be but eventually the house will attach to the garage. It's almost 8am, time to get to work!

Remember guys the house gets jacked up and attached to the new garage. I can’t wait to see that project develop. A project of that magnitude would scare the crap out of me. 😲

I worked alone this week so it was a little slower going. Finished putting in support beams and joists for the other half of the upstairs which includes tedious things like lifting the beams myself, cutting and putting in blocking, planning out the stairwell, and finishing the decking for the 2nd story. Friday it rained most of the day but was able to put the 16ft super insulated garage door up and it is functional. Its amazing how you can actually put that up with 2 people and the new EZ Tension system that Ideal has now is very slick and done with a power ratchet. I only have 3 days this week to work because I have to be in Chicago on an installation Thursday and Friday but should be able to start framing upstairs walls and get them up soon. As it is 9/17 I still feel pretty good about my schedule to get dried in by the end of October. The last pic is of sunrise on Friday morning, while it's alot of work I like the environment I get to work in!

I bought my door at Menards and it is Ideal Brand, pretty big name in garage doors. Was a pretty easy install, they don't include things like angle iron to hang your rails from the ceiling, no locking mechanism is included with the door either, some of the pre-drilled holed were not drilled out either. For a door that costs $2,600 that is unacceptable in my mind. It's rated R-18 which was the highest value door that they had.

I have 3 single doors I need to replace so gives me some idea of price. Currently faced with new roof next week and window replacements in Spring. Tennis ball size hail was like getting hit by bombs. 😞

Yeah, won't get out too much, only good thing is that prime time for walleyes is after dark so can't really work on the garage in the dark. I'll get out a couple times but garage is the priority right now.

Very nice! Is there a service door somewhere that I am not seeing?
I struggles with where to put the service door but I am going to cut it in after I get reasonably dried in. It will go on the right corner of the garage on the wall facing the house, I will have to build a small deck to access it because of the height difference. Where you see the rock wall below opposite the electrical boxes on the corner it's just on the other side or where the scaffolding is on the roof of the house.

Imo you have plenty of time to figure service door after you raise the house. My neighbor never did figure out his deck stairs in 10 years stairways came and went just didn’t look right. Imo he needed a custom spiral staircase to his upper deck. Some things just take time for best design.
