So sorry

I was hoping to hear better news.
You have to remember to do what is best for your dog. I know, it is very hard on the whole family. Guilt, anger and sadness are all of the grieving process. When my fur children had to leave me, I found alot of good info on the net about this. There is alot of info out there, expecially for your children. Still don't give up hope, you just never know. Will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers today.

Very sorry, so sad to read this. We love them so much and know how much it hurts. I hope nobody walks into my office right now, I got something in my eye. Hopefully she makes a comeback.

Thoughts & prayers for her and your family.

Well, she has totally shaken the fever but the paralysis remains. The vet recommended we give it till tomorrow to see if she will regain any mobility with the fever gone. This is the first time since last Sunday she hasn't had a fever, very high fever. Anyway, the damage may already be done but I'm hoping for a miracle. We shall see what tomorrow brings. Maybe nothing, than our backs will be to a wall, but maybe there's and outside chance. Her face looks so good and she is perfectly alert and wants to leave with me when i visit her. It breaks my heart to leave her but hopefully it's for her own good.

Now all I think about is all the times I could have taken her for a walk / run that I didn't, and the little time it would have taken to pay some more attention to her. She has been an Angel to my two boys. I've said before if I was her I'd have probably bitten my boys. She watched over them all the time. I can't let her go unless I know I've made a reasonable effort at giving her a chance.

It's hard to know when enough is enough. Unless there is a mobility improvement there is no quality of life for her.

24 hours from now, our story should be told. Good or Bad.

Thanks all for the thoughts and prayers, what bothers me most is to see my kids hearts broken. After you have kids, you tend to care less about your own, or I guess mine aches when theres does.

Later, I'm gonna go have a drink!!

All the best Chris, putting down a good dog is a hard thing to do. When I did it I didn't have kids yet, can't imagine what that adds to the equation.

Don't be too harsh on yourself, rather rest with the knowledge that you did all that you could for her and that she was lucky enough to have lived a life that was better than the average and it was a good one.

If you do end up having to put her down, it is the ultimate act of love kindness, and courage on your part.

You only need think if the reverse was here, would she do the same for you?

In a heart beat....but then that's what makes those decisions so very hard.

The compasion you have for her is only about half of her's for your family.

It is total and complete and without reservation.

Good luck on the final hours.

I am so hoping for positive news tomorrow!! Dogs become a part of the family and losing one is hard on everyone. Maybe with the fever breaking it's a start to a full recovery!
