Seems like a big story too me....figured someone knows someone who is directly connected with that operation....no journalists in the UP?

Had reservations for Thursday-Sunday so I called to see what was up, had me cancel and said it will be closed at least through the weekend but wouldnt tell me why. We were also there last weekend but didnt use the pool and like the afore mentioned hot tub was closed but said it was due to the pump being broken.

I messaged channel 12 out of Rhinelander.....they knew about it...but wouldn't confirm it, and couldn't get the tribe to respond..even the Michigan department of health won't talk because it's a tribal entity... IMO...they haven't run anything yet, out of fear...that casino spends lots of money advertising...run a negative story, and say goodbye to that revenue. You also have to realize..they don't have to follow the same rules and regulations that non natives have to abide by...(right or wrong..it is what it is)...I highly doubt you will see anything reported about this

Lets all just please refrain from any kind of speculation as to why they are closed.

If someone that stayed there is worried, they can call the business and see if there is anything they can/should do.

For what it is worth the Legionella bacteria is found naturally ALL OVER THE PLACE. I am guess that 95% of you have already been exposed to it. Those with a compromised immune system are typically the ones that actually get sick from it. How do I know this? I had it years ago after a trip. Dr's said I could have gotten it from ANYWHERE I had been in the past 2 weeks. Including any work outside, as it naturally occurs in water and soil.

Schit...call me an idiot all you want....you UP folks sound inbred when it comes to protecting your fellow business kin....if this is a health issue.... I hope to gawd you friendly folks don't try to cover it up. This is beyond "hush hush" ONLY because the hotel is NOT forthcoming with information to past and present GUESTS.

Tribal issue....LOL....and the casino is still open?...OK

Will anyone who lurks here and reads this stay there if this remains hush-hush?...best to come clean.

Reservation status doesn't exempt a business from publlc health issues. A cover up would only make things worse.

Well golly Mr Snowbuilder. So glad we have someone who is so cosmopolitan and worldly on this board!

I guess I was just a dumb redneck thinking that the Health Department and other official entities would be involved in this if it were a health concern. Duh... Silly me.

Please just stay in "Wisco" where all the smart folks live.

John. If the fact that they are trying to keep this quiet doesn't bother you then we strongly disagree.
I have no idea what caused this shut down but it doesn't take a professor to see that it is serious and that the public IS involved and perhaps, at risk. I don't think being quiet about this promotes tourism in the UP....do you?

No one stated facts or alluded to anything as fact. All speculation lies at the feet of LVD Hotel at this point for not being open about why guests were kicked out suddenly.

Personally I hope like heck it isn't health related.

Where did I say that I am ok with them trying to keep this quiet?

I am just stating the point that I do not want to allow folks to speculate here. It is not fair. If you want to speculate on things...then go for it, start up your own website and make yourself liable to slander. This site is not here for you to pass your time and say anything you want.

My point is that we are not a bunch of hillbillies protecting each other no matter what. I would find is deplorable if the public's health were at risk and they were withholding info. The reality is, this info made it to this website. If it did that, I am guess if there were a real health issue, the health department would be all over it. I could be wrong, but would find that mind boggling if it were true. If you are so concerned, here is the link to the health dept http://www.wupdhd.org/ Call them up and find out for yourself.

Just give it a chance... we know nothing so far & nothing on the news. The northwoods is NOT tight lipped at all so don't be promoting that type of thinking. LVD Hotel knows that northwood peeps luv to talk and if it was a need to know we would know. You know the saying small towns have no secrets.... this will evolve... hang in there.:)
