Union thugs are at it again

It's amazing the type of individual that a union breeds. It is definately not a hard working one. I have been told to slow down also, or to not do it at all.
We even have 2 unions, and us truck drivers are not suppose to help the guys in the plant, and the other way around. That's just stupid. We all work for the same company, why not work together. I have seen drivers sit for hours because there is nothing to haul because the plant is down, but will not lift a finger to help anyone else.

I was raised to work hard and I'm not about to change for my union. I would love to see some of the lazy a$$es that I work with have to work for a place without a union protecting them. They wouldn't make it. And I wouldn't feel sorry for them.

Not a hard working one???? A real tough thing to say for a truck driver who sits on his a** all day! Come out to a construction site and swing a hammer for 10 hours a day with union carpenters, pipe fitters, electricians, sheet metal workers, and laborers, go home and cry to your wife about how sore and tired you are, and then come back here and post tough guy!

Sorry!

Didn't mean to offend anyone in general. Speaking for myself, my union is a piece of s%&t. Guys are over paid and under worked, and still complain about everything. It's like they are owed something. Many of the guys I work with would not make it on a construction site doing the kind of labor you talk about. I realize you may think I have a lazy mans job, and by some means you are right. But, I am not lazy, and will be the first to help any one else that needs help with something.

I realize that there are good unions and bad ones. I make a good living because of a union, and have ok benefits. That is were it ends, everything else that goes on with my union is crooked and unfair. My personal experience with a union has not been a good one. I really hope for Americas sake that there are more good ones than bad.

Wow, calm down a little. No need to get all bent out of shape, it was obvious in his first post he wasn't talking about anyone on this thread.

I have a friend that works in the Coast Guard in Alaska. He would beg to differ with you. I call Bu**s***

you can call what you want but My old man has owned a fishing boat 1974 to 2009 and I have spent 1000s of hrs oh his and many others in my youth first hand tells me diff.I saw a coast guard chopper less than 2 times and a boat less than 4.fish and game take care of inspections and they dont mess with the boats just the catch and the making sure no one is fishing the borders.coast guard has more than enough to keep busy just geting to wrecks and on bord illness from kodiak to even think about checking the 1000s of boats for safty inspections of US regesterd boats let alone the USSR regesterd boats then toss in the cannery transport guys who are allways overloaded buy at least a 3 ton or more those guys go down all the time.then trying to keep shiping lanes clear so tell me how do you think they the cost guard can even think about inspecting fishing boats.and also keep in mind most Alaska people are a self reliant group that would be more than a little upset to have some pinhead gov inspector polking around ther property telling them how to do there job

College is a money-pit and I really dislike school. For the things I want to do, I'm going to be going to either fox valley tech (5 min. away) or michigan tech.

I went to Michigan Tech and I have never been sorry for it. It is a tough school and when potential employers heard I had a tech degree, I had options. Work hard, follow your dreams, and good things will happen. rock on.

a few biz classes never hurt not as ez to figure it all out on your own or at min find a mentor in the field you want to be in or at least some one in biz willing to talk with you from time to time.lots of guys would be willing to be a mentor if you just ask and they know you are dedicated to it.
