Indy: I don't get Snowgoer anymore but maybe said 2011 800 meets current EPA which is no big deal 2012 is the next big EPA emission gate for all engines. Neither Snow Tech or American Snowmoibiler said 2011 Poo 800 2 injector meets 2012 emission standards. Snow Tech did question how both Poo & AC would get there & neither OEM talking. Like ezra said probably engine bits & pieces out there but no one really knows what Poo & AC will do to meet 2012 2s EPA emission requirements. This is a big deal & all the Poo 800 problems are part of meeting 2012 EPA emission requirements. Doo & Yamaha are a safe bet & all OEMS 4s looking good but Poo & AC have a lot of 2s R&D to do yet. I would stay away from all 2s except etek. Doo way ahead with DI 2s. It is time to be smart not blind brand loyal things are changing by law & engine burndowns are PIA & costly problems.

The Polaris 2 injector 800 will be around awhile. The issue with any of the big 4 manufactures 2012 EPA compliancy is more complicated then just 1 engine. The EPA takes the whole companies engine line and averages it out. They also consider the cc's and the power output in the calculations. That's why if Skidoo wanted to keep a carbed 600 for 2012 they would not have any problems because of the credits they have established with E-Tech and 4 Tech. The Polaris 2011 800 is a very clean engine, it comes close enough to meet the 2012 EPA requirements to keep it in their lineup for several more years. This was why Polaris dropped the price point 600 carbed Shift. It was one of their best sellers, but it was to dirty and used up to many EPA emission credits.

It is purely speculation on my part, but I would guess they will be coming out with some kind of clean 600cc for 2012. This engine would keep them ahead of the EPA standards until the next round.

I agree oldguy I think there are a lot of new 2s engines coming from Poo they are not saying how or what but I agree something has to happen to meet 2012 EPA emission requirements. Really no other way Poo has to do it or go 4s but they keep saying 4s only 25% of market. I think those numbers are way off since Yamaha all 4s & everyone else offers 4s now but Poos marketing has been saying low numbers for 4s for years now. I guess that could change if caught between the EPA rock & hard spot.lol

I'm sure others have read this somewhere, but the way I undertand it is Poo and Cat were able to buy or "aqcuire" EPA credits when they released models like the 4s Frontier and Cats 660 and T660, therefore they are still able to run the technology they do. Models like poo's 750 and cats Z1 are just the start, but remember, they dont have to be 4s to be compliant.

I don't get it I beat my sleds hard and they do not blow up??? my 755 went thru **** today and still comes on strong. My 800 never missed a beat 2 yrs. 8800 mile on it? go figure. I am doing test rides this week on 700 and 800 Poo's. They are holding together, well. Why are my sleds any different? I am totally lost on this? Still riding all week! Test riding a 2011 800 RMKPro this coming Friday. tell me how to trash the motor since pinning it and not letting up at 11,000 ft is not doing the trick. explain? Oh and we run Amsoil.

Just because it does or did not happen to you does not mean people are not having Poo 800 burndowns. I read about plenty of problems with my Doo 800 & thought I'm good until crank froze at 5000 miles & I was out $2,200 for 800 refurb engine from Doo. When it does happen to you you start listening to others problems & no longer dismiss their problems. The Poo 755 or 900 should do well at high RPMs in powder both engines shook real hard at idle on the trail.... shaken or stirred.lol:) Poo discountinued both engines must have good reasons to do that.

Hopefully nobody buys the 2011 800 Rush pro -r I like having a sled that stands out. Then in 2012 the 800 Rush will have a different color.
The bad thing is they are selling a lot of the new 800 Pro R Rush's. 15 from the 2 dealers I deal with so far.

Your Yamaha's all look alike black and blue or blue 10 years straight. You would think for $14,000+ you could have a different color.
Also I heard it cost big money to pull motor out to change plugs and oil changes.

Even Artic Cat, and Ski Doo makes different colors every year.

indyxcr : Check it out 2011 Yamaha has custom graphics if you want them. Even PINK for the ladies.lol Never saw anything like that but if you want a pink sled it is available thru Yamaha. YIKES!!!!... looks strange for my tastes but differnet strokes for different folks. Never herad of anyone pulling Yam engine out to change plugs or oil that is new to me or likely an urban myth.

And you think I don't know Polaris? I know the 755 inside and out. I tryed to blow it up again today. no luck, so I ran it down 25 miles of trails as fast as it would go with no front rad. and scratchers up. exhaust temp running 155 degrees at 10,000 to 11,000 ft. above sea level. Factory stock except an SLP can. no reflashes. Riding it again tomorrow, off trail. Everyone has a story.

whitedust: Why are you so critical of the Polaris engine? You don't ride one! You can't believe everythig you read on the internet. I have 1,100 problem free miles on my 2010 Swithback Dragon 800 and love it!
