I was going through my new American Snowmobiler and they had a list of the Top 10 Model Rumors and thought I would share it here. Some of these I have heard, others I have not yet.

Arctic Cat

-Will offer a new chassis to replace the F-sleds, Crossfires, and M-sleds, or at least one of those lines.
-Will shed even more weight from both the F- and M-sleds.
-Will have some form of direct injection technology on a new engine.

Polaris

-Will offer direct injection in both its 600s and 800s.
-Will deliver a new 4-stroke engine to replace the aging 750cc naturally aspirated and truboed engines.

Ski Doo

-Will offer a variation of the ACE 4-stroke engine, possibly with a turbo. But whether naturally asperated or not, we think it will have 10-25 more horses.
-Will surprise everyone with a new chassis, or significant updates to the XP chassis.

Yamaha

-Will add power steering to its Vector lineup.
-Will drop most, if not all, the Phazer models.
-Will add a lightweight 4-stroke (dare we say maybe even a 2-stroke?), lower cost sled to the lineup.

Last year they were right on some things, and completely wrong on others. I'm hoping for 4 stroke news out of Polaris! Anyone else see anything they like? Any other rumors out there?

Here's my wish for 2012

Carbureted 500, 600, 700, and 800's from poo

yeah, like that will happen! Can we shoot the government now?

the possible 2-stroke from yamaha really caught my eye, although i really doubt it will happen. once they got rid of the viper/venom series they pretty much lost me as a potential customer (especially when i wanted a longer track on a "light(er) weight" snowmobile). although if this actually would happen, it would maybe give my dad an option for replacing his viper which is approaching 11,000 miles (who says 2-strokes can't get past 10,000 miles...grin).

I completly agree with this! Put the 488 in the Iq for $4995.

I emailed polaris about bringing back the 488 liquid about a year ago and they said they don't have a demand for it. YEAH RIGHT! Reliability plus affordability plus decent horsepower!!! With all the advancments in the drivetrain, that thing could probably get close to around 100 hp! Ok, i'll quit dreaming. I should create a poll about this and send the poll to polaris.

Indy, they have had one on the market for years. Oh its not a POO, but a DOO. 500SS. [alittle more than 4995.00] All the trail sled you will ever need. And its a 600. If I were to get back into sledding again, mmm? Good question? What would I need vs want? What would I spend? The big 4 think about all this, all day, 365 days a year, just like you do. But they are not playing with Monopoly money. Kinda off topic, sorry.

yeah but the doo 500ss isn't legendary for reliability like the poo 488 cc

Indy-
My 2005 500SS had 8356 miles on her and I had her bored out and new pistons put in for safety sake(all miles with sea and snow). Plus that motor has been around since 1999. Not uncommon for that motor to go 10,000 miles with no issues. Plus they get a lot better fuel mileage than the poo 500! I average 14-15 mpg and I am not easy on the flipper.

I would like all manufactuers to build a sled that is affordable...like the 500ss. It is hard for a family of 4 to stay in this sport with the cost of sleds, gas, lodging, etc.

Pure speculation so dont get all revved up!!! Something to think about...

Not for 2012, but how about Arctic Cat adding more Yamaha engines to their line-up? (Z120 has a Yamaha built engine). At the end of the day it is all about making money. Yamaha has been selling emissions credits to Cat for years...

Also not in 2012, but anyone think Polaris will drop the Rush soon (2013)? (only saw one between Minocqua and Copper Harbor this past weekend). The Rush suspension never worked when tested on race sleds years ago either...

Then you'd be driving a FUJI engine! Maybe that's not a bad thing.

Probably more about emissions than demand. The 500xcxp wasn't a bad engine at all though.
