I understand old abe and true Yamaha guys want true Yamaha sleds, trust me I get it!!! LOL! I guess Tracker said it, it is what it is right now and if they're profitable then I guess we might be tied to Cat. Believe it or not, it has it's place and many people love them because they're more rider forward than the Apex or Vector. Ski Doo makes a great sled, they all do really. That being said, I can tell you I've taken many Poo's and Doo's on trade for the Sidewinder, not just for the power either. Many have bought because they like the steering and how planted it is. Everyone has different wants and riding technique which is what makes all the manny's and sledding so great! Powersteering will make it even better no doubt. Pete, remember, the Apex didn't have power steering for 5 model years either. My guess is with Covid Yamaha figured they wouldn't be able to produce enough if EPS was released. Just a guess, not saying I'm right on that. I personally think they're leaking it as a front. I think there's more to come from Yamaha. Maybe a crossover 2 stroke? Not sure but I don't think they would leak this without something else in the mix!

You're a class act Kip. As I always say, ride what you like, and enjoy!

Looking at the sneak peek, my first thought was a new chassis built around the yamaha engine....but no one else seems to be seeing it, or at least saying it.
So what say you, Kip
....is that just an old procross chassis with new plastic and eps wedged in?
There was a lot of Yamahas navy blue in color riding around Onedia county 2 weeks ago. Always going the other way so could not hear or get a close look.

Thanks Old Abe, tell my wife that will ya! LOL!

LOL, yeah, well, no need of me doing any of that Kip! It appeared to me years back, that you both are pretty darn good at picking "real winners", eh!

Be careful with that kind of "wishful thinking", eh. Kind of reminds me of the pit I fell into. Perhaps as blinded by too much want?

AC procross turns 11 this model year, eh? I got no skin in this game, just a question to someone in the biz....seems like the Cat fans are due for something new.

HMMMM what a shame.....so they could have wedged EPS in there all along?.... way back to the Viper debut?

If you are a trail runner the cat has a pretty amazing fr end .
Something new needed ? In deep snow segment yeah but keep a lot of what they have going and beg zuk to start making them motors again

Yes and no. The procross chassis in general came out in 2012 model year. However, they made a number of refinements over the years. My 2019 is different from my 2016 in many ways. Although, it will be their 60th year so now is the time to bring out something new. Whereas the 600 C-Tec2 is going on 8+/- years. Which would someone rather see, a new chassis or a new 650 and 900? Cat has never been one to let the other brands win the displacement battle for too long.

From the couple of 9000's I rode I have to agree Cat has a light feeling front end that doesn't understeer. I didn't come away feeling like it needed EPS but certainly in some conditions ALL sleds could benefit from it

When you strip off the motor and all suspension components the only real change that I know of was getting out the pipe bender to make the genesis motor wedge in

You won't need EPS on any sled if

You lengthen the limiter strap to get track laying flat on ground

Put on 4 inch dual side by side woodys carbines on any length sled...NO PICKS

tighten up front shocks to bring front up and skis inward

Put blocks on 3 in back

You will rail like no tomorrow...guaranteed....just sayin

Case in point....Look at me flat track...aluminum blocks on 3...shocks set at 105 psi....4 inch duals....no studs...it absolutely rails

I have had 2 Apex's and have been a Yamaha only rider since 1999. I couldn't go Yamahacat and was tired of all the weight. I also bought a 2020 Renegade XRS and am wondering why I waited so long. The suspension is so much better, its so much lighter, and handles so much better. Don't like having to add oil but that's the trade off. We'll have to see on the reliability, I sure hope I can count on some trouble free years.

Like I said, that's what makes the sport great. Some like it, some don't, that goes for every brand!

Why not go with the 900 ace turbo so you don't have to add oil?

I don't want to bring you dudes down but I used to b a diehard yamahaha man....I can tell you this...there is a good reason they chose CAT chassis above all other manus...they are sturdy...easy to repair....tight steering with long tracks even...bolted not riveted....rail don't push...adjustability is more than other brands....shear off an a-arm bolt on another with no damage to mounting holes or alignment....and more than this too....knock CAT all you Want but they reign supreme....I own polarious....yami....and skidoo....work on them all except cat ....it is what it is

LOL! Choose AC? This being as AC having their own problems, thus needed some help with their sales problems also. But this sealed the deal, neither Poo, nor Doo, had any interest, what so ever, in any way. It is however a shame, that the 3 hole Yami mill didn't have the engine designed to exhaust front, intake rear. They could have had. It would provide much better sled balance. Seemingly knowing this especially due to the mountain development process. However Yam thus elected to go with roar of the rear exhaust, at the expense of balance. This coming from Yamaha development riders in the Wyoming mountains who greatly wanted the front exhaust system.

Took me one Apex LTX, and two Vectors over 4 years to figure out the motors were spectacular, but the suspensions were as subpar as the engines were good. I'd never buy one of those again.

Agree! All of the weight killed them. Had the experience of getting a Attack unstuck in the deep snow of the Canadian wilderness. No thanks ever again. If it needs power steering, it should not be considered a snowmobile. Sub snow machine perhaps.

I really really wanted to put the like button on the SW... My simple view after the first ride was being ok with the acceleration but largely unimpressed on handling... After my second ride I went to the Ski Doo dealer... So i guess its either my build or style of riding but some just doesn't seem to work for me on that chassis combo...
