Did U get fat this last winter?

Oops, went up 1/2 lb. Considering the lazy three days I just had with food and beer, guess I should consider it a win.

Great Work and Determination

The support this group provides to all the members is very important for each person's success. I have been following it and it has helped me to stay focused when I am struggling. My wife and I started this together and are sticking to it together. It would have been doubly more difficult if we were not doing this together. We started last August and I can offer some light at the end of the tunnel in that if you really stick to a change in diet it does get easier. You actually start looking forward to the better food more than bad food. Don't get me wrong, you still crave it at times but the pull is less and it is not as hard to walk away. I now seek out fruit everyday as opposed to a Reese's because I now want the fruit more. As i stated in my earlier post the exercise is also something that you start looking forward to. An hour listening to your favorite playlist on your IPOD and some sweat becomes a necessity. When you miss it you start to physically feel bad, or you simply start feeling like you always use to but did not know any better. I mentioned in my last posted that I was going to have my Heart Doctor follow up by now but it got moved to next month. I intend to ask him how long it takes to reverse the bad I have done and will let you all know what he tells me.

Anyway, great work to everyone and keep it up. I want as years with my family as I can get and I want to ride my sled like I am 30 until I am 80.

My status is that I am down almost 40 pounds not. Only a couple more to go to get to my goal weight of 195.

My wife, Daughter and I are headed to work out today. My Daughter has joined us in this now that she is home for the summer.

Well after being in Luna Pier for 5 days I truely dreaded to hit the scale, because all I did was eat on the road and at the local establishments, which these 3 were by far the best in Toledo. El Camino's (mexican, just awesome although all I ate was guacamole and chips, a few shrimp),Zita's (italian, very good appitizer's all I had to eat ),and the best by far Handle's (aaaahhhh ice cream the 4 scoop sampler uuummmm)so the end result ......uuuggg...up 1/2 a pound, not bad. Hope every Mom had a great day and one free of guilt, a little treat I hope. Back to the real word now.

According to the scale this morning I hit my originally planned target weight of 220 (-17lbs). Compared to the goals of some of the other people, this was a pretty modest goal but I wanted to pick a number that I thought was achievable and might keep me from getting discouraged.

The second part of the goal was conditioning and I have been working at that and will continue to do so. At this point I believe I can set a new weight target of dropping another 8 lbs. That would be like not having to carry around a 25 lb dumbbell anymore, which I guess would just leave a 212 lb dumbbell.

I can't thank Lenny enough for kicking off this little weight challenge. I had planned to drop some weight anyway but like rev500 said, knowing that some of my fellow sledders are going through the same thing has really helped. Being a loser doesn't feel so bad.

zero this week, but considering the beer (couldn't let my friends drink alone) and all the grilling out, I can live with that.

Here's an update on my achilles tendon repair. It's been 6 weeks since surgery and I took the stairs at work for the first time AND gave up my crutches yesterday. VERY slow progress but at least it's steady.

Blessings :)

194 weigh in this morning,,,yea baby!!!!!!!!!

Think I found your lost weight. Had actually bottomed out at 215 at one point but am up slightly now at 217 and holding. Still, as we pass the two month mark, 217 (-20 lbs) is a welcome change from where I started.

Skutr - good news on the heel!

Month 1- 21.6lbs

week 5 = 6.4
week 6 = 3.8
week 7 = +1
week 8 = 5.2
month 2 total = 14.4 lbs
Total = 36 lbs ( 9% body weight loss)

Well I did not hit my goal of 20lbs a month this one but also not to far off of it either. As long as I keep losing every month I have nothing to complain about.

Wow I wish I would have read this thread when it started. For some reason I figured it was about lack of riding and just sitting around. Hope its not to late to jump in with the accountablility because I think I started a diet about the same time you all did. Looks like you all check in on Mondays, and I have been recording my weight on Mondays since April 16 so from what I can tell is close to when you all started. I'm just doing a calorie count based on something my wife learned from a diet workshop. Based on my start weight (250) I can eat 1,680 calories a day but not more than 480 at one time. Once I finish a meal I have to wait at least 3 hours before eating again. Diet Coke or black coffee doesn't count but everything else, even gum, does. After 6 days you get an off day and can eat what you want when you want.

Here are my numbers:
April 16 250
April 23 241
April 30 236
May 7 233
May 14 231
May 21 228

Not sure how to figure body fat percentage or anything else but have progress goals of 225 by Memorial Day, 210 by my 50th birthday, July 10th, 200 sometime around Labor day, and finally 185 by the time I get back on the sled this winter.

So how 'bout it, can I join the club guys?????????
