any one have a 5.0 f150?
I have only had the 5.4
I have the 5.0 in the mountaineer but that is the wife's winter car and I have never pulled any thing with it.
looking at a new work truck and the stx f150 4x4 are going for under 26k
looks like u cant get the 5.4 in the f150 only v6 turbo or 5.0
so who has one and what is your 2 cents
and I don't need to hear from the government motors crowd or the fiat crew they are out on principle

My father has one and loves it... Able to pull enclosed sled trailer and have pulled a 26ft boat with no troubles. He has the crew cab with 6.5' box. Hwy driving able to to get 19-21 mpg. Towing down to 12. Quite ride, strong engine and solid truck. The Eco Boost is more money and don't think the MPG is much better and when towing from what I hear the milage is worse as the turbo's are always spooling.

Father in law has one and really likes it. Waaaaaaaaay better than his last truck w/ the 5.4l per his opinon. Better mpg, more power.

yeah ecoboost sticker says 21mpg and 5.0 says 19
take lots of mi to make up that 10g assuming u don't have to replace or rebuild the turbo.
I have 120k on the 5.0 mountaineer with 0 issues but it is a lighter vehicle.and like I said I have never had a hitch on it.
think I am going to buy one this week 25,399 for a 12 stx north land edition alloy wheels chrome running boards cruise sync for the phone etc etc really all a guy need for a work truck.
heck used 10s with same package and 30k mi are selling for 22/ 23

The engine in your mountaineer is the old 5.0 ohv engine. The engine in the new F150 is the new ohc version of the Mustang detuned for truck use.

have a few customers that are getting 20-21 mpg hwy with 5.0, no problems so far with the engine, , imo 5.0 is better value and better piece for towing

the ecoboost option should only be about a $1500 - $2000 upgrade. From what I have read the ecoboost tows like a diesel, better than the 5.0.

Somehow I don't see ezra buying a truck from the government, as he said in the original post.
No government motors ever again! last one I owned was a 04 z71 HUGE HUGE P O S 40k 60k fr end went out after 30k started using a quart of oil every 1000 mi. at around 80k 2 qt every 3000 mi.
then started using coolant then. fr end started to go out again and started to leak out of 4x4 servo.sold it back to dealer for trade in value would have felt bad sticking that pos to a unsuspecting ford dealer.
and who would buy a Fiat?
I would buy a Toy if I could justify the cash for a work truck
I guess the 5.0 is 360hp with 380ft torque.
the last dodge O had was the first yr of the new Ram so what a 94? 200k 5 trannys but ran like a top with 0 maintenance but syn oil every 10k and a battery never even a alternator those early rams had some bad bad trannies.I had been hearing the nightmares so when My 1st one out of warranty popped I got the AAmco life time warranty tranny so really less than 3k in repares in 200k not bad.drop in the bucket compared to owning A gm for 4 yrs
I am now playing the bargaining game with 2 local dealers at 25,299 now kinda crappy U have to use ford credit in order to get 1K off the price and U have to keep that finanving for 4 mo before pay off got to get out the calculator ford credit is not cheep 6.5 for 60?my bank is offering 3% for 72

prob cost wise but no rebates with eco boost close to 10g in rebates with 5.0 stx
I have a hard enough time dropping 26k on a work truck that is going to be dented and scratched with glue on the seats and paint dumped in the box dripping down the bumper in 2 yrs let alone 33 grand for a turbo v6

1 among many lemons in the soon to be Bankrupt again GM fleet.
only issue I have had with my fords is coil packs about 1 a yr.
my local dealer 125 installed and he gives me a pos explorer with 490k on it to drive around till it is fixed
only know of 1 guy with phase limiter issues and he was spraying nos in that 5.0 pony.
after installing the comp cam kit no issues.
they all have there issues the dealer I am buying from claims to have a lifetime powertrain warranty with every new car they sell.they claim I am not required to have service records or even have serviced through them.also 5 yrs of free oil changes and free car wash for life.
they must not know me to well I will drive that thing till the seat falls through the floor.Well ok maybe not me but 1 of my guys will drive it till then

34 years running!

Buy GM or dont buy one at all :p there I said it

There is only one truck that has been the best selling truck for 34 years straight. No doubt, there's a reason for that. You can't beat an F150!

If I thought I could get away with pulling in to the drive of a 800k home and ask for 10 to 60k to remod a bath with a 1975 rusted f150 or old K5 that is what I would be driving.

trucks are for work and pulling end of story
it is shocking how many office guys with no toys to pull buy them ? I have no idea I would much rather drive a sports car for a daily driver. I think they buy them to feel more like a man as they step out from there cubical with the pink sorry salmon shirt and walk to the truck after work.you know the type u see them driving z71 all the time .
