We drove home a 2012 f-150 super crew ecoboost with 3.55 gears yesterday. Time will tell how it will be on fuel.

Congrats man! Your gonna love it ( if the wife lets you drive it). Lol
Personally I'm not really concerned with mpg, I rather hit the go pedal and hear those turbos spool up.

Curious why you went with the ecoboost over 5.0?
Was because you liked engine better or just happen to have options color you wanted?
5.0 is really solid haven't heard too many complaints about it.

Oh yea, post up some pics!

Not sure if my fuel pumps going out but I just got 19.2 mpg up to Wausau and back yesterday... I put the gas nozzle back in and it just kept shutting off because it was full.

It's the big pedal on the right...you push on it with your foot

She let me test drive for 5 miles and take it to the store for a Sunday paper! Lol. I do get to take it to have the dealer installed remote start installed since I have a more flexible schedule. I will post some pictures when I can. I went for the ecoboost in the hope of better all around mileage. I taked to two family friends that have newer F150's. one with a 5.0 and the other with an ecoboost with 3.73s. Te one with the Eco boost got better mileage.

ok you guys got me at the water pump. As long as I get offered a formal apprenticeship at the end of this school year a loan is getting taken out on an 04+ Ford FX4 crew cab in black. Sick and tired of fixing my truck every week. Can't save up any money and neither can any of my friends LOL THERE I SAID IT

Glad you saw the light and are buying a Ford! You will love it. I have 225k on my 2004 crew cab that I bought new. I hate to get rid of it but would never buy anything but a Ford.

the majority of this thread was smack talk but one of my other friends is also seeing the light. Both of our dads own 02 F-150s and haven't stuck a stinkin dime into them. I hate the interior and the exterior on the 03 and olders though but they are good trucks. The interior from an 04 F-150 is nicer/classier than what a 12 1500 Silverado is putting out. I took all the dash panels off my buddys 2012 Silverado (well his dad bought it for him LOL) to wire in some LED lights for him and all the panels are cheaply made, plain and boring... I still love the look of a lifted Chevy from any year but man they ride like #311 the interiors suck and they rust out so bad no matter what body style. Their door handles have always been poorly designed (A pet peave of mine) and all the GM vehicles use the same texture on all their interior plastic (which there is A LOT of plastic!) it looks so cheesy when you go from a buick to a cadillac to a saturn to a chevy to a gmc and they're all the same. I also dislike the 5.3 as it has no torque. Ok enough of that. You guys win this one...

cant go wrong with the #1 selling vehicle in the USA.have seen many many 5.4 with 350k on them with no real probs.
I have owned my share of silverodos over the yrs. but after my huge POS.04.z71 then the Oboma union pay off deal I will never never own a GM again.

For you Ford guys, is the V6 that Ford put in during the 2000's a good engine? I see a lot of those cheap on craigslist.

I dont know about the v6 but u do see alot of old explorers for sale with over 200k on them 80% of those had the v6.I have the 01 mountianer with the old 5.0 and am at 130k and only changed fluids 1 battery and 2 sets of pads in fr 1 in rear.3rd set of tires.no intention of selling going to run the thing in to the ground at a point I dont think they are worth selling u get nothing for them but u know they run well.

I am going to pull my 4 place enclosed with my new F 150 3.7 6 cyl this year. The new 6cyl has as much power as the old 5.4.

The Eco boost and the 5.0 are made for heavy hauling not the small loads like 4 Sleds.
