I also buy what is best for me. I am not concerned with the price of a painted tunnel option. I am concerned with SIMPLICITY and INGENUITY. For my '19 C-TEC2 600, it does not say I have to take the sled to the dealer to replace the spark plugs like it does in my friends '19 TNT 600 owner's manual. To perform basic maintenance on a sled without going to a dealer or needing special tools is simplicity (I consider replacing spark plugs basic maintenance). (I remember buying a set of special forks in order to hold the buttons on the TRA clutch to reassemble the clutch and buying a extremely long Phillips screw driver in order to adjust the PTO carb on my '02 Renegade. And don't get me started on changing the oil filter on my '07 Phazer.)
Also, the front bulk head of the Cat is made out of a square piece of steel tubing and not some assemble of lightweight material pop riveted together or a casting of lightweight material. If I wreck the front end of the ProCross, it can easily be rebuild it for a lot less then a Doo, Polaris or even the Delta box Yamaha's. (Bent an a-arm harpooning a culvert, did not get to the frame or shock thankfully. That is how I know what is underneath the ProCross.) Again, an example of Cat keeping it simple by not using as much exotic materials or complex structural elements in the construction of their sleds. (A reason they are heavier.)
I also applaud Cat on their use of using normal injectors to achieve emissions instead of some expensive direct injectors. Too me, adding the slot in the piston of the C-TEC2 600 engine was ingenious and thinking out of the box. (There are others examples but that is one that I picked for my response.) Add, how can the monorail suspension not be a game changer for the mountain segment?
I am not saying that Doo does not have original ideas of their own, they do and most are in the engine department (exhaust valves, electric engine reverse, the shot start), but I find Cat's ability to simplify the designs to be more attractive. I guess that is the engineer in me. It is the little things that attract me to Cat. That, and also Cat's styling is not based on boring straight lines and angles. At least Cat adds some curves and arches to the bodywork of their sleds.
I am glad you found what you like Bear. But, you cannot fault me for liking what I like either, just because it is Cat. I guess you can say I find VALUE in a Cat. I guess VALUE is subjective?
