I will figure it out at the end but yes, the major cost is now paid for. Excavation and concrete work was way more than I had figured. My lumber and trusses are paid for, just have to buy shingles and insulation. And a million other little things.........about $2,000 in Menards rebate have been submitted so far. It's really almost like building a house!
Good luck rebates. All I get are the $2 & $18 ones. Have about $300.00 in rebates due over the last year.

A few of mine never came back when they came as a regular postcard where the amount was plain as day. Now that they come folded and sealed I have not had one go missing. You can track them on the Menards website to see if they have been sent. I suspected my mail man as the culprit.

If you sign up for the USPS email notifications, they send you an email with a picture of every piece of mail that’s supposed to come that day. That way you’ll know what day it’s supposed to arrive, and could eliminate if it was your mailman.

Friday I had a load of road gravel delivered (15yds) My excavator was busy so I spread it myself by hand, Took me most of Friday, That's a lot of gravel but it was really needed to level out the approach to the garage, I was pleased with the result. Saturday was framing and Sunday also, Put up one 40ft wall, 10ft high 2 x 6 construction. So, a good start, need to finish the lower level framing in the next couple of days, my trusses get delivered on Wednesday. The front part of the garage will be 10ft high, to accomodate a 8 ft garage door, back part, my shop will be 9ft high cielings. Building this myself, my wife helped me raise the walls, Thank you Honey!

Heck of a project to take on yourself. I give you credit for the ambition and skill to do it. My back and knees hurt looking at the pictures.

So far, so good. As you know you have to be on someones list at least 2 years in advance to get a major project like this done. I'm in pretty good shape for a 66 year old and I like to see what I can accomplish. This is like building a small home, it's actually a little larger that our home. Going to get this done by the time the weather turns at the end of October and then get the inside finished.

Looking good! I got rid of all my guys about 5 years ago(just tired of babysitting) so now I have me and one guy(my brother) but we still frame some good size stuff! If I wasn’t so flipping busy down here in Stink’n I’d offer to come give ya a hand!

In 08/09 I took advantage of the crash and built my place up there. Had a 5 man crew plus a couple carpenter buddies, a siding guy and a couple roofing buddies com up as well. We framed it, set all windows, siding it(all cedar), shingled it and did about half the electrical rough in 8 days(12 hour days)
The good ol days for sure!
Good luck!

Well, the work continues! We started this build 6 days ago, most of the time was either me or a neighbor helping me out and my wife helping as much as she can (Thanks Patty for helping me realize a dream!). The rest of the framing on the lower level was completed, the header for the garage door was set, some sheathing was put up on the wall near the house, and lastly we (my 66 year old high school buddy who lives up here) set (11) 6/12 pitch trusses in 4 hours this morning. The trusses were an amazing accomplishment and very happy to have them done. Had to knock off at around 3pm because of rain but very happy where we are at this point. Also a big shout out to my driver Eric who delivered the trusses from Menards as you can see his forklift could do some amazing things and fit into my not that wide driveway!
