Stand-up riding

I stand up to ride when I get to a road crossing to see over the plowed snow. People probably see me and think I stand and ride all the time. Just the opposite, I am lazy, old, and have bad knees. I sit most of the time.

to each his own!!!!!why do you guys think riding 100 to 300 miles a day is fun??why do you think sitting all day and pushing the throttle is fun???sounds kinda boring and lazy to me....

Well just about every snowmobilier in the world did this up until about 5-7 years ago when boondocking became the new in thing. So I guess your saying that riding sleds from whenever you started riding until 2002/03 was boring and lazy?

I've always enjoyed riding no matter if its trails and 150 miles a day or out west where the real backcountry is but to each thier own.

I'm not a mile hound like some people, really would rather put on 80 miles of great riding and come home happy than 150 miles of pushing myself all day and coming home sore. I guess I like to enjoy snowmobiling not try to compete with the guys who always ask "how many miles did you put on this year?" But that's just my opinion.

I stand up when trails are rough and sit when trails are flat. I stand at road crossings too so you can see a little better. I also stand when out west but that's mostly cause I don't want all the pow hitting me in the face. haven't been out since 08 and I'm really kinda pissed I can't go this year but thats for another thread.

Nah, stand up riding was the thing to do 30+ years ago. There were no trails, and hill climbing and swamp bashing were the best and only riding around. Not to mention, your legs were your best suspension!

Yeah, that was before my time but you're right. I forgot that trail riding was only cool in the 80's and 90's. Saw a vintage sled show this last weekend pretty cool to hear all the oldsters talk about "making out own trail" back in the day, didn't look like some of these sleds could have got too far but hey, they made it work.

The two sleds my family had that were so good were a 1970 TX 436 and a 1972 Mustang 530 fan cool with the 20" wide track. You'd be amazed where these sleds could go. My dad still has them today!

to pee

Last week by Silver City I was standing to see the deer in the woods, wife asked me what I was doing. Told her I had to pee. I think she beleived me because that was end of conversation. She is blond, but then again she wouldn't put anything past me.
Let's just say I drink alot of coffee in the truck and only stop to fuel when the gauge is on "e".

standing has it's place when the situation requires it.

The rest that stand all the time because they think it looks cool are affectionately called "flippin' ditch bangers". Most of them have just watched too much of the Winter X Games on TV and feel that they missed their calling to be professional snow cross racers. They just haven't understood that trails are not race tracks.

LOL.... It's no different than the goof balls that wear snow cross helmets with goggles and complain that their cheeks are cold.

The man on the moon

I will say one thing about the stand up off trail riders, they have some of the best looking outfits.

I have seen some that looked so good, I was sure that they were Neil Armstrong himself just stepping out for the first step on the moon.
