Blown up rush

had very close 4,000 on my 2010 Rush, used ves plus. I kept close track of the oi/gas ratio and it usually came in around 70-80:1, I could look it up, as I kept track of every gallon of gas & every oz of oil I used. Would like to hear what the problem was.

The dealer said it was from snowdust. He got it back, and rode it around home for 500 miles. We went to Hurley this weekend and it temporary seized up Saturday morning. We let it sit for 15 mins. And got it free. We rode it back to motel and dumped 5oz of oil in the gas for pre-mix and finished the day on it. It ran like crap, had no power, wouldnt idle, flickering temp light. Going bad to dealer. Two trips up north and broke down 2 times.

I hate to bash brands but I have to agree that you should not have to add oil to a new sled. I have a friend of mine who has a Polaris and his kids and his sons friend both blew there Dragons up. Maybe it is just me but they seem to run them lean from the factory, and I would have to pass on that brand.

After reading this, could it be the dealer didn't find the real reason why the motor went down the first time??

The dealer said the airbox was full of ice and snow. I am not convinced that the dealer didnt "get it right" when they rebuilt the engine. But I cannot be certain, so I really cannot say anything bad about the dealer yet either. Time will tell. IDK if he dropped the sled off last night or doing it today.

I know of one other engine that sucked in snow dust and went down, and was rebuilt by this dealer. That engine has gone down twice since then. The same mechanic rebuilt it both times, and it was the mechanics fault. The owner of the dealership rebuilt it this last time, and I truly believe the person will not have another problem. I believe the mechanic in question is getting some further "training". This mechanic also rebuilt Littlewagners rush.

My sled went down 2 years ago because of the faulty intake boot issue. The dealer owner rebuilt my engine, and my engine has been completely perfect since I got it back. 4000 miles since the rebuild and I ride the same trails, conditions, and actually ride with LW and the other guy that keeps blowing up. I believe that, while this situation stinks, the dealer will be "getting it right" from here on out.

It may seem like they are running them lean but the manufacturers actually run them on the rich side because it helps keep warranty claims down. This is what i read in Sno Tech..... Not to brand bash either but i have a couple of buddies that are die hard Pol fans and they have had lots of problems with several models......(he just bought a Rush 800).I was talking to this parts guy at the local dealer that sells all 4 manufacturers and he said "thats it" i said yeah, just a quart of oil everything else is fine on my 02 ZR 800..."I've been real lucky with my Arctic Cat" .he said thats good ,,,"boy them Polaris' and Ski doos keep us busy back here"

Srt....i noticed u dont seem to like yamahas..which is fine.
I have owned all four brands in the last 7 years..each have their positives,,,
and negatives..but what happened to ur buddys rush is the main reason
I went back to yamaha...i hate wrenching...got my shocks revalved, and
slap on dual carbides, and I can run with two stroke on any trail...off trail
is where the 4 stroke isnt so great..the weight gets ya there..but I am older,
and stay on the trails now...so the weight doesnt bother me.

which yamahas did u and ur buddies have again??

If you can hang with any 2-stroke on trail, you must be the best rider to ever ride a snowmobile.

I personally had a 06 nytro, pioneer shock valving, pioneer swaybar, fat boy springs, every carbide combo out there just about. I also had a local guy change the shock valving 5 other times for me. I had the limiter in every possible position. Front track spring, loose, tight and everywhere inbetween. Front floats, high up, down on the ground, and everywhere inbetween.

I am not a guy that hops on a sled and complains it sucks. I set it up for the way I ride. I didnt keep track, but if I would have I would bet I had over 100 hrs my labor, just trying to get a good handle on the sled. IT was a POS, plain and simple. I was on totallyyamaha trying to get advice from the experts. I tried everything, and nothing made it even close to how I thought it should perform. My 08 IQ out of the box is tons better than the Nytro was at its best. And now I have prolly 20 hours labor and one shock revalve on my IQ and I love how it rides now.

We had my Nytro, one 06 or 07? Apex, 2 RX-1s, and one Attack. Not one is worth a crap on the tight twisty trails. The only one still in the fleet is the Attack, and I think its because hes to tight to spend more money yet. I bought mine new and happily traded it in 2700 miles later, losing my rear on it, but I got a good sled now and thats all that matters.

If I was riding the RR grades, or wide open trails of the UP all day every winter, sure Yamahas would be where its at. But in honesty, those trails arent our cup of tea. We like stuff like trail 160 by Hurley. Nice tight twisty trails. Maybe someday I will like running 70-100 mph down a grade. But it hasnt happened yet.

We have guys from 20s-40s that we ride with. The group was always waiting at stop signs for the guys with the Yammis, myself included. This did not happen before we got the yammis, and it hasnt happened since we got ride of the yammis.

I will never argue with anyone that Yammi motors are reliable. But yammis break down too. I cracked the skid in mine. And I dont jump. The highest Ive ever been in the air has prolly been 6 ft. Both RX-1s broke the chain and chaincase. One of them did it twice. Those parts arent cheap on a Yammi. The Apex broke the driveshaft. I dont know of any failures on the Attack off hand. All sleds were under 6,000 miles on the failures.

Im not trying to sell anybody on any sled. I couldnt care less what sled you prefer. It has no bearing on my life whatsoever. But anyone that tells me Yamahas can hang with any 2-stroke out there, whether it be, Polaris or Ski-doo, I am gonna call BS.

We currently have 2 Rushes, 4 IQs, 2 XPs, and 4 edges, in the fleet. The guys on Edges are to scared to buy any thing newer cuz of all the blow-ups.

We have guys around here paying big bucks for low mile 700 XCXP's just because they are scared of the new stuff going boom. I bet if Pol built a few of these they would still sell. If they still sold new 2003 F7's I myself would buy one of them. I guess this is called progress. Who knows?

I agree, the prices on Craigslist for Edge chassis sleds right now is freakin crazy. I bet you could prolly get a decent 07 cfi for cheaper than you can get a clean low mile 03-05 edge for. In fact, I just sold a 550 supersport for $1200 less than I payed for it brand new in 03. And I had 5 people in line to come look at it.
