Srt....i noticed u dont seem to like yamahas..which is fine.
I have owned all four brands in the last 7 years..each have their positives,,,
and negatives..but what happened to ur buddys rush is the main reason
I went back to yamaha...i hate wrenching...got my shocks revalved, and
slap on dual carbides, and I can run with two stroke on any trail...off trail
is where the 4 stroke isnt so great..the weight gets ya there..but I am older,
and stay on the trails now...so the weight doesnt bother me.
which yamahas did u and ur buddies have again??
If you can hang with any 2-stroke on trail, you must be the best rider to ever ride a snowmobile.
I personally had a 06 nytro, pioneer shock valving, pioneer swaybar, fat boy springs, every carbide combo out there just about. I also had a local guy change the shock valving 5 other times for me. I had the limiter in every possible position. Front track spring, loose, tight and everywhere inbetween. Front floats, high up, down on the ground, and everywhere inbetween.
I am not a guy that hops on a sled and complains it sucks. I set it up for the way I ride. I didnt keep track, but if I would have I would bet I had over 100 hrs my labor, just trying to get a good handle on the sled. IT was a POS, plain and simple. I was on totallyyamaha trying to get advice from the experts. I tried everything, and nothing made it even close to how I thought it should perform. My 08 IQ out of the box is tons better than the Nytro was at its best. And now I have prolly 20 hours labor and one shock revalve on my IQ and I love how it rides now.
We had my Nytro, one 06 or 07? Apex, 2 RX-1s, and one Attack. Not one is worth a crap on the tight twisty trails. The only one still in the fleet is the Attack, and I think its because hes to tight to spend more money yet. I bought mine new and happily traded it in 2700 miles later, losing my rear on it, but I got a good sled now and thats all that matters.
If I was riding the RR grades, or wide open trails of the UP all day every winter, sure Yamahas would be where its at. But in honesty, those trails arent our cup of tea. We like stuff like trail 160 by Hurley. Nice tight twisty trails. Maybe someday I will like running 70-100 mph down a grade. But it hasnt happened yet.
We have guys from 20s-40s that we ride with. The group was always waiting at stop signs for the guys with the Yammis, myself included. This did not happen before we got the yammis, and it hasnt happened since we got ride of the yammis.
I will never argue with anyone that Yammi motors are reliable. But yammis break down too. I cracked the skid in mine. And I dont jump. The highest Ive ever been in the air has prolly been 6 ft. Both RX-1s broke the chain and chaincase. One of them did it twice. Those parts arent cheap on a Yammi. The Apex broke the driveshaft. I dont know of any failures on the Attack off hand. All sleds were under 6,000 miles on the failures.
Im not trying to sell anybody on any sled. I couldnt care less what sled you prefer. It has no bearing on my life whatsoever. But anyone that tells me Yamahas can hang with any 2-stroke out there, whether it be, Polaris or Ski-doo, I am gonna call BS.
