October 1 is perfect - 6 month period will take some of the frustration out of those little "setbacks".

Panther, 150 - 160 lbs? Holy cow, I think I have that much scrap value! Windingtrailgal, DO NOT let Big Daddy have access to that highly classified information. Who knows how it could be used? (not that he would misuse it).

I'm going to have to remember to check in every Monday! The sleds have been summerized, I switch to my 'boating' site now =)
I'm definitely in. And Skutr- I registered for Tough Mudder. I'm running with a team on Saturday- Sept 8th. Did you look at the course map???? It's an 11 mile run (which will be the EASY part). There are 25 obstacles thorughout the 11 miles. One of which requires us to literally run through fire- like burning straw. Good news is, we'll be covered in water and mud- so should be pretty flame resistant. The final obstacle- you run through live electric wires- so we'll be shocking ourselves. Not to mention the 12 ft walls to scale, rope ladders, greased monkey bars, etc, etc. That should be interesting!

Anyway- I am still holding steady at my 7lb weight loss. I don't know why I'm so petrified to put my actual numbers here, but I am. I'm 5'6. 34 yrs old. Female. I am not one of those 'little' girls. Nor am I a beast. I am actually in good physical condition (as noted earlier, lift regularly, good muscle, regular runner/crossfitter). I just need to cut the crap out of my diet to lose the extra fat. I'm going to list a 'size' as that is less scary for some reason. I am currently a size 14. My goal is an 8/10. That is me at a good healthy weight. We weren't all built to be a 0! In addition to the 7 I've lost- I need to lose an additional 25 lbs. My plan- continue following the 'paleo' diet as much as possible. Crossfit workouts 3-4 days a week. Running at least 1 day a week (preferably 2). Good luck everyone!

It really does help when you have a support group- people that are going through the same thing.

Nic - My team is registered for Sunday morning (Sept 9th). So far we've got a total of 9 people (6 ladies & 3 guys). All of us are 40+ yrs old and pretty decent athletes. We've got 2 black belts (me - 2nd degree & another 1st degree) and the rest are either marathoners or road bike racers. The only thing we have in common is that everyone is VERY competative and just a bit weirded out.

You've got a great goal - you'll do it. Keep it real and remember that the best reward for your hard work is the "tank-top" arms & shoulders you get to show off to all your jealous friends as they hide under 2X t-shirts this summer. :)

Ok count me in,
I'am sitting here reading this and brushing Dorito crumbs off my belly (that i have'nt had for along time, belly that is). So i went and step on the scale and it said 170. OMG i have'nt been that heavy for years !!!
I've been a High School Softball Coach for the last few years and this is the first year that i'm not doing it anymore. Plus the fact that i did'nt even ride my sled this year, or do much of anything is catching up with me. I'm 5'8'' and this time last year i was 155 pounds.
So that will be my goal, to get back down to 155.
Thanks for making me notice, because there was a time i was 185 and not to happy about it !!!

I'am in! We stopped eating fast food last summer completely Ceasar salad is pretty good though at Mc D's. Its easy here in the hood we only have a Mc D's and BK. I have always eaten pretty healthy but too much sugar and carbs that get stored. I am on day 10 of the what i call the "Island diet" or life it, i have changed my eating habits for sure. It's mind over matter says my friend Charlie who just lost 70 lbs.....for example some of my meals have been as simple as broccoli and peanuts, i had plain salad for dinner.AND been happy...no crieing.. Lotsa oranges apples and some eggs. I had salad and walnuts while the family had pizza!(then leftover pizza the next day) In 10 days i have lost about 10 lbs. I'am going to do this till Aug. 1st and see where i am on the scale. So i have hit an all time high 274.5 on march 19th.... today i'am 264. I know i have some good muscle cause my legs, back are solid i can bench 285 once properly. curl well over 100. Stomach is real strong just have to lose the fat. Walking and lifting weights as well to help reach my goal of 220 or less if i can.

wow, we're gettin up there! 15 people!

I have been working hard for my job,,,been tearing off a roof and re-shingling, finished it today and was a hard hard physical job. You know, I do have a problem, I over work myself and cause aches and pains, some severe. I wanted to go walking tonight with my wife but my legs and back were killing me. I cannot lift weights anytime soon because my right forearm is damaged, my left wrist kills with a sharp strong pain when lifting tools. I have abused my body worse than I have ever realized. It all started when I used to hang and tape Sheetrock. Worked union for 7+ years piecework and have never slowed down no matter what I do. I can cycle and I like that but I have been wore out all this week so I am not gonna do as well this week. I have been doing better on my portion size and less snacks. Been snacking on oranges and carrots.

My biggest hurdle is going to be enough exercise. I hobbled out of the truck when I got home from work today and it is very discouraging. I would love to wrestle or work out in Jiu Jitsu but nothing even close to me up here and at the moment my body would not allow it but I believe I can get out of this slump as I have in the past. Exercise is rewarding and addicting to me but just need to get over this hump of pain. I will sleep in to get good rest tomorrow because we finished the roof today. If I feel good I am going to bike up to Krupps tomorrow and back, 32 miles should take 2.5 miles. I do need some encouragement because this is so hard to do people. I think we ought to reveal some of our big hurdles we need to get over so maybe we can learn from each other.

I'll tell you Lenny. Reading your post is reassuring. For sure, I'm getting a little long in the tooth (63) but when it comes to projects I push myself harder than I probably should (my wife will back me on this). I have a lot of these projects - I'm maintaining our house, my mother's house, and my daughter's house. Then it's payback time. When I get to my regular job after one of these sessions, it's the 30 second pause before I can move once I'm out of the truck. I find this a little frustrating because I don't seem to be aging maturity-wise (again, my wife will back me on this).

Take comfort in the fact that your discomforts are caused by pushing yourself and not because you actually moved every couple of months. I've tried to adopt the attitude that if you're free of aches and pains, you're not living. So far, it's worked for me.

I'm with you, brother.

aw hey no problem...lol..I saw that too i was like way heavier than the others. I've always been a bigger guy, i was lean in high school and wrestled 189. ................Glad to help on the inspiration Lenny...thats kinda the hardest part is staying p*$$ off'd and determined to get to your goal................ I have a real big motive...An all day shirt off event this August, white water rafting this summer on the Wolf River.).Today I had a Caesar salad with breaded chicken from D's at 11:30 am then a big all veggie salad for dinner tonight, I wasnt real excited but fine, thats the way it should be....And down some more this morning after 11 days of basicly eating healthy (i hav'nt even really started my lifting routine) i'am down 12 lbs in 11 days! My neighbor said at about the 3 week period it really starts to drop! .............

just got back from a 30+ mile ride, way to many hills on that route, didn't enjoy it as much as I thought but maybe next weekend's longer ride will be better. 3 hrs of pedaling should burn some calories

Hey Lenny I know that a while back you were talking about a handicapped system for this challange! As we are all different sizes the only way I think you can do this is by weight loss percentage! This will make it an level playing field. Simply take your pounds lost divide by starting weight and multiply by 100. Since I started in Jan I have lost 12% of my starting weight.
