this is gettin good, but I forgot to mention, it's just car lights, I'll type it a tad softer, there just car lights, okay? I'll prove it !!!!!!
Sure Lenny….and you other guys with the car headlight theory….. You’ve been here how many times????? Have you been here when it’s snowing so hard you can’t see the car in front of you????? I have....and still saw the light……have you been here when it’s raining and foggy…..I have…saw the light……come on...how could car headlight and taillight be seen in weather like that….and miles away besides. Ok maybe you think I’m crazy or a little stupid to keep on about this "light" and I’m sure some of you are getting a big laugh…and I’m sure this isn’t the first time this thread has been on here….and been “solved” already….but these light viewing incidents I’m talking about speak for themselves…the same as Lenny and his binoculars…..so there….whatcha ya got to say about that!!!
I'm going down today....I'm taking some viewing equipment.......since Lenny already did...and I'll look for this "sweet spot". I'll also go up to the Johnson Lake Rd and take some pictures looking south....just for the sake of "science"
Oh yeah and before the power lines where there people saw the light....no clearing...no us45.....Hmmmm. This is gonna be fun for sure!!!
I can say one thing, I certanily do not think yor stupid. This is fun, the first time I was there is was foggy, so there!
I imagine the water droplets in the fog could easily reflect/refract the light from a car in all kinds of ways.
But you didn't mention if you saw the light....or how headlights could be seen through the fog....Hmmmm no one seems to have answer for that!
And thunderstuck88 I'm gonna hit the green friday night the 9th...yaaaawhooooo!!!
No US45? Remember, from a previous note:Oh yeah and before the power lines where there people saw the light....no clearing...no us45.
Even earlier than its days as a state highway, the general route of what became M-26 in the 20th Century was a federal military road in the previous century. Much as M-26 did later, the military road entered from Wisconsin, headed northerly, then northeasterly, through the Keweenaw Peninsula, terminating at Fort Wilkins near Copper Harbor—ironically, today's northern terminus for M-26. The military road was used in troop movements to and from the fort, which itself was erected to maintain order during the copper boom of the 1840s. The route remained a heavily-travelled [sic] one, and when Michigan set up their state highway system, that route became M-26. Even today, some stretches of the original military road survive as gravel roads or "two-tracks."
And from the Backwoods Wisconsin web site:In March, 1863, Abraham Lincoln signed an Act of Congress which enabled the states of Michigan and Wisconsin to begin construction of a road between Fort Howard at Green Bay and Fort Wilkins near Copper Harbor. It took one year to build the road from Fort Howard to Keshena. By 1869 it had reached the Michigan state line. First used for transporting federal troops and supplies, the road also was used by explorers, settlers, trappers and hunters. By the turn of the century it became an artery for the lumbering interests who kept the road repaired until it became a part of the state trunk highway system in 1923. Along this road are many points of historic legendary interest. Nine Mile Creek, Langlande and Lily were important logging centers. Way stations were established during the 1880's at the Otter Slide, three miles north of Sullivan Falls, the Gauthier Place near Shotgun Eddy, and Mag Lawe's station, two miles north of Keshena Falls, served both the lumber trade and weary travelers.
Although some local people claim to have seen the strange lights over a long period of time, the first reported sighting was in 1966.
But do you think from 6 miles away???
Yes.
If it is headlights, and there is/was a financial reward. With something that is relatively easy to test/prove. Why wouldn't someone have received this financial reward?
