Poos Problems

So I just bought a 2013 Poo SBA 800 towards the end of last season ( I still got 1000 Miles on it) But by reading this thread (and a few other about the poo 800) it sounds like I should be buying the Ext warranty immediately? ($1300-$1800) Of should I just set it on fire now and save myself the heartache of it burning up while out of town?

You should be fine as long as you don't ride it.LOL I would buy the warranty for sure but really what are going to do?? Just ride it if it pops it pops.:)

from hearing and seeing people with 13's, things are way better, I wouldn't worry all that much. A extended warranty on any sled is good, couldn't hurt. When I get my pro I'll be getting one for sure but that's just me. Good luck and I hope you never need to use a warranty.

now that is funny. I could just see some guys with their pro's up on a pedestal all shined up on a rotating stand with neon and all that,,,all that with a blown motor
Polaris won't cover fires , makes it a insurance deal

now Steve, what are you saying?

I have pistons in stock and I also will have a couple of the bikeman kits in stock. We will be here when you guys need us! Ride and if it breaks fix it. Hey we all can worry about getting cancer too but it's not going to do us any good. Live and have fun!

Poo 800 engine problems are not as scary with Pat's selling Polaris at least in the WUPMI. Kip will get you going quickly as long as Polaris cooperates with their warranty stuff. If no warranty even faster engine service just costs you money. It is huge to lose riding time, I get it ,but Pat's always had time for my Yamaha so you should be aok with Polaris sleds too.:)

Bookdocker82, who has an 09 assault 800 and has a fix kit on his motor says the 13 have thicker skirts which helps to prevent the piston from breaking the skirt, masking the problem, not fixing it. He also said the mapping is better keeping the cylinder and piston in better shape longer.

I believe with a good warranty, the sled would be well worth it IMO cause your not gonna beat the chassis and the motor is plenty strong.

mspease's adventure burnt an oil line sprayed oil all over which started on fire. Between the fire burning everything and the motor not getting any oil she was toast. Polaris wouldn't cover it under warranty

If you had a dollar for every post you've made on this engine, you could...just joking with you...

Just to set the record straight, warranty covered the engine failure but didn't want to cover the fire as it was in the fine print that fire is not covered. The first year bumper to bumper is covered by Polaris and I had the 4 year bumper to bumper, so year 2-4 were handled by a company called Assurant or something like that. They covered a new short block for me but denied the fire damage, which amounted to $3,000 (the entire fuel injection system, oil pump etc). I called Polaris and my dealer also got involved and within 24 hours Polaris covered it 100% for me. I think I paid $5 for a gasket. I have owned something like 15 new Polaris' in my adult life and I had one other engine issue on a 2002 600XC SP. It was an $1,800 fix and the sled was just out of warranty the prior year. Polaris again stood up and covered it, I paid a $50 deductible. About a year later the same thing happened to a buddy of mine and his Ski Doo. Just out of warranty but complete new engine needed. Ski Doo covered not a cent of it. There is a reason I'm faithful.

It is therapy for him. Eventually he will come out of the closet. Be patient........he is taking baby steps.

(2600 trouble free miles on my 2012 800 Rmk Pro). I always run scratchers down, clutch for no more then 7800 rpm max, run PooGold oil and followed the break in requirements to the letter when I first got it. I do not do anything special for "warm"up when first starting. The sled will get hot fast if not in the deep. It is not ment for long haul trail riding (it is purpose built). It is way more sled then I am rider. I have had it west 5 times so far Tog area, IP, and 2 times to Cooke City. This year going to Cooke and Tog. no worries. If it blows ALL of you will know about it within minutes. I will do my best to blow it up for you guys again this year (but not by neglect) The sled is still under warranty for 2 more years.

I suspect the only reason he keeps going on and on is that he wants me to let him ride my sled :) Lenny you can ride it.......But you have to give it back!

why bother with the 800 if u are going to tune it to be a 600

X2. 23 new Poo sleds in 41 years. never a blown motor. Had a temp gauge water leak (thread tape failure)on my 01 800xcsp at 8800 miles on it and 2 years old. warranty covered. 2002 and 2003 600 and a 700 xcsp had the speedo side bearing go at 2300 miles ea. dealer fixed with better sealed bearing, no charge. Pull rope knot pulled thru handle on the 755 RMk and went into housing, dealer fixed for no charge, and carb boots on that sled. Thousands of miles and thousands of smiles. Poo and 2 fantastic Michigan dealerships earned my loyalty for life.

Bone stock at 600' or at 10,000' I never had it go over 8200 rpm and that was momentary. I will give a couple horseys to ride another day. Find the max and back it off 5% This is my theory, so far so good. I don't need steady peek hp and torque is just fine. p.s. the Poo 600 is looking good. Great reviews. As a side note: I was thinking of you today....My back ordered klim undies showed up in the mail.

Mark, That is a very good reason to be faithful, costumer service is so important these days, why do you think I love to deal with Pat and Kip of at the shop. Good for you bud and that is a strong testimony to poo. Thanks for posting it!

wayney baby, you are just envy of me and all the great info I post for all you guys. The info just came in and I was prompt to supply it to all my fans, don't hate me because I'm beautiful

I am not loyal to any manufacturer. i will ride what I believe is the best for my personal situation, financial situation and family situation. Right now the Yamaha is best for me but I would prefer to own a Pro, M or summit. Don't press me to find out what order I would place the big 3,,,;)

Have had 2005 skidoo mach Z crank go out, a year out of warranty and ski-doo replaced the crank new for nothing. So its not just polaris FYI. Over the years Ski-doo has taken care of any issues in or out of warranty we have had. when ski-doo came out with the mxz 700 in 2000 that had crank issues, we had a couple in our group fail after warranty and they were payd by skidoo. so dogging them on your buddys claim is an inaccurate knock on them. But im glad polaris is finally starting to show better customer service than previous storys i've heard.
