Union thugs are at it again

Indy I bet you would like a new snowmobile but what do you do if you cannot afford? You cut your budget and buy a used one. I had many used ones at your age also. Every state has had to cut budgets so you find another way to get it done. Don't sit there and say the state took it away go out and get it for yourself. You will see you are the only person you can rely to get it done.

firez10 -- good post, makes a lot of sense. No offense taken here.
Any post, for or against the topic of discussion, that is based on logic, reasoning, and facts gets my respect. Not so much those based strictly on emotion and hearsay.

Why don't you tell me why it's being cut? lol We were supposed to read 2 more books in english class for the remainder of this semester, but those got cut too. Now we have to learn about a bunch of dead authors.

While I'm going to stay out of the main topic of this thread, I will make a statement to your "Dead Authors". Much to the same content as Harvest 1121, one should read and understand about the past (your dead authors). For an understanding of the past and the people of the past will give you better insight to the future. In other words, Read and learn from the past it will help you later in life.

Study as hard as you play. It makes you well rounded!!!

I don't agree with Indy on this topic, but I have never had anything but respect for the kid. I for one wish our youth today were much more like Indy than the way they are. He could be playing video games all day and expecting everything done for him like most kids today, but look at what he does instead. The way some of the adults on here reply to some of his posts is out of line too, but I don't see anyone calling them out. I feel bad for Indy, he doesn't deserve this IMO.

deserve what, being called out on an ongoing belligerent attitude. Last I knew offering up opinions in ways that are respectful, Keeping the edge off as to not offended people, being kind, patient not impulsive were good qualities. Why do you prefer to see these qualities compromised when they promote healthy debate. So far I have heard he has been attacked, he doesnt deserve this, keep on doing what your doing, bla bla bla. Has anyone ever asked Indy to not think on his own, to jump ship, to keep quite. If you guys would read the content of my post about aggressive attitude you would clearly understand my intentions. Is there never a time to call somebody out on negative behavior? Help me to understand where I am going wrong, seriously! Let's end this part of debate

Thank you, once again, frnash. I had always attributed that quote to Churchill. He did seem to swipe a lot of good quotes...even if this isn't one of them.

Why? I think I know but I would like to hear other ideas/opinions.

If this was directed at me here is my thoughts, if not I apologize ahead of time.

I won't get into why some programs need to be cut but I will ask why does public spending have to be so outragious. Case one: A newly built school say within the last 10 yrs has an 18 million dollar face lift? Contracts with busineses cost you and I the tax payers, millions of dollars with no accountability? I can back up these stats.

My post may have been long but it felt good to get it out. Many tax payers are out of the loop as to the true spending. You only see and hear what is given in the media. I have been in some form of government my whole adult life and had parents and grandparents in it long before I understood most of it. We really don't want to get into what needs to be cut on this board. If you truly want to understand get involved at the
local level and move up to state level then the Feds. You would learn why I am so passionate about this subject.

revman - my momma always taught me if you don't have any thing nice to say, don't say anything at all. This is a tough enough topic and I think MOST people have done a really good job conveying their thoughts in a respectful manner. Not sure what you are trying to contribute with the last few posts in here you've made? Just sayin...

I agree...for the most part it is a good discussion. John said that for the most part the posts had been philosophical instead of political (which is a rule on this forum...no politics). So what I was saying was that the post I commented on was not philosophical...in a sarcastic manner...which I probably shouldn't have...so I am sorry for that.

I haven't stated how I feel about this topic because it doesn't matter. I'm not going to change anyone's mind either way. People are going to, for the most part, be pro-union if they are in a union, and for the most part, anti-union if they aren't. To each their own. I will now depart from this thread, as I did not mean to inflict any ill-will...

“We must close union offices, confiscate their money and put their leaders in prison. We must reduce workers salaries and take away their right to strike.”

Hmmmm....makes you wonder....

Where is this written

Show it.

Sorry about the quick post. I've heard this alledged statement from Adoph Hittler for years and everytime I ask for reference I get nothing solid and true. He was a piece of work and I believe he was mentally sick. But please show your work, just like a High school Algebra teachers would say.

For Indy and Sis

Indy please take this as a complement. I never was fortunate to have a son. If I did I would be proud of him if he stood on his beliefs as you have. Everything you have learned in your early years have been hearsay. When you get out in the real world [paying taxes, buying new homes, automobiles, etc.] things will seem unfair. But remember one thing son, many of the readers and posters on this forum have lived it. And I wish you and your sister the very best in future endeadors. Good luck with your studies.

It's possible it's a misattributed quote.

This was the closest thing I could find to corroboration...
"Hitler was invited to a meeting at the Schroder Bank in Berlin on January 4, 1933. The leading industrialists and bankers of Germany tided Hitler over his financial difficulties and enabled him to meet the enormous debt he had incurred in connection with the maintenance of his private army. In return, he promised to break the power of the trade unions. On May 2, 1933, he fulfilled his promise." -from Aggression, Otto Lehmann-Russbeldt, Hutchinson, London, 1934
The quote is probably not precisely true, but that in fact it's just what Hitler did, as reported by William Shirer in his book, "Rise and Fall of the Third Reich".

As long as I don't get too worked up over it....which I haven't. :) Though there are obviously drastic differences of opinion, I remember to remind myself that most of the folks on this board are good people who would be just as willing to help me out in a heartbeat if I were broken down on the trail, as I would be to help them. I enjoy a good discussion/debate, but in the end we'll probably just have to agree to disagree, as it's not likely anybody is going to change their mind. Even so, I usually come out of these with a better understanding of where the other side is coming from (and hopefully, vice versa) and though I may not agree with them, I do feel more educated on the issue.

.must of been written in time

Indeed these pics have a lot to say. Though exaggerated, truth shines through. I'm trying not to be political here, but seriously, not everyone can make the same for doing the same job (aka union). It's called expanding your horizons, or working for a better employer (the man that makes more money). Capitalizm
