Union thugs are at it again

I don't ever get involved in these discussions because they are pointless...but I do appreciate your courage for standing up for your opinions. I have been a union member for 33 years. If you could send me your sweatshirt size and an address I would like to send you an official Laborers Union sweatshirt. Thanks for your support.

X2 For me too!

I am a U.A.W 833 member (34 years) and PROUD to be a union "THUG"

If this was directed at me here is my thoughts, if not I apologize ahead of time.

I won't get into why some programs need to be cut but I will ask why does public spending have to be so outragious. Case one: A newly built school say within the last 10 yrs has an 18 million dollar face lift? Contracts with busineses cost you and I the tax payers, millions of dollars with no accountability? I can back up these stats.

My post may have been long but it felt good to get it out. Many tax payers are out of the loop as to the true spending. You only see and hear what is given in the media. I have been in some form of government my whole adult life and had parents and grandparents in it long before I understood most of it. We really don't want to get into what needs to be cut on this board. If you truly want to understand get involved at the
local level and move up to state level then the Feds. You would learn why I am so passionate about this subject.

No, it was directed to you but I applaud your enthusiasm and agree with the involvement.

I am surprised that the words "Union Thug" are endorsed by the administrator? We all know that not all Unions are run by thugs, if at all. What about the non Union thugs? Maybe this post is allowed to just release stress from the early demise of snow? I prefer to be neutral on the view of the Unions. I have benefited from what they have built without ever having to join a union. They are due my respect for that.

(Are the girls in the Mate1.com adsense ad union or non? )
My guess is independent contractor!

Thats what I suspected. Such lovely girls aren't they. Now if these fine ladies had a "guy" looking after them, and say they gave him money to do so, would that make them a "union"? What does it make the "guy".

It's possible it's a misattributed quote.

This was the closest thing I could find to corroboration...
The quote is probably not precisely true, but that in fact it's just what Hitler did, as reported by William Shirer in his book, "Rise and Fall of the Third Reich".

In his book, "Mein Kamph", chapter 12 volume II deals with his reasons for not liking unions...

On May 2, 1933 he did ban them. Unions represented a potential threat to his party and he recognized that ANY organization that was NOT part of the party movement must be prohibited.

Here is an English version of this chapter...if anyone cares to read it.

I posted a few pages back on the union side and have followed this thread all along. I have read a lot of good posts from both sides and liked to hear from people with different angles. That's probably why it's still here and not thrown out. Enjoyed reading most of it besides a few ridiculous ones. Man, the season just ended for most of us (maybe not U.P. boondockers) hope the summer brings all of us back together as snowmobilers!

what part is not true?

You are correct & I think dfattack agrees in a milder tone. Sometimes it is enough to know you are correct & does not matter what someone else thinks. Everyone has the right to his opinion even when they are dead wrong.:)

deserve what, being called out on an ongoing belligerent attitude. Last I knew offering up opinions in ways that are respectful, Keeping the edge off as to not offended people, being kind, patient not impulsive were good qualities. Why do you prefer to see these qualities compromised when they promote healthy debate. So far I have heard he has been attacked, he doesnt deserve this, keep on doing what your doing, bla bla bla. Has anyone ever asked Indy to not think on his own, to jump ship, to keep quite. If you guys would read the content of my post about aggressive attitude you would clearly understand my intentions. Is there never a time to call somebody out on negative behavior? Help me to understand where I am going wrong, seriously! Let's end this part of debate

Calling someone out on negative behavior would be ok, but re-read your post. You go on and on about how you're worried he will fit into a community, he deserves his "shi*y" reputation, you have no respect for him and so on. I can't imagine being 16 and hearing that from an adult, that's all. We will have to agree to disagree on this one.

Of the posts of this long thread, the one by firez10 on 3/15 probably captures the complex nature of this discussion best and explains why it has gone on so long - excellent post.

Lenny. I think I know where you went wrong. You did not put a smiley face at the end of your post. Don't you know you can say anything you want to anyone on the board and as long as you put a smiley face at the end, you can always go to the childish-cop-out fall back of "I was just kidding, see the smiley face"? Then anyone that objects to your opinion or how you said it is the bad one.
