i was surprised they even opened these trails for 2 days. driving by the fields all I saw was chiseled dirt and blown clear fields. old iron or new iron my body won't handle that anymore plus how fun is it really riding on dirt.

need to get thru the Friday, Saturday, sunday and see where we stand. gonna be close to 40 this weekend. might be starting from scratch.

With Sun every day all snow will surely be lost. Sorry...

Well if we don't get any snow next week it will be time to start thinking about heading north again for another weekend.

Let me clarify...I wouldn't ride any sled on two inches of snow, but when conditions allow, it is cool seeing some older sleds out of the barn. Up north, all you see is basically 2000 model year and up sleds. Plus, if everyone just keeps riding up north, there will be little need for trails down south, and they will quickly disappear, which will really suck.

I am just hoping to get the trails open at least once this year at this point. Only spent who knows how many hours on talking to landowners, working a new re route and marking the trails. Will really piss me off if we don't even get a shot to enjoy them. I did here the weather guy whisper sounds of a potential storm next week with measureable snow. He didn't sound like he wanted to talk about it much. And judging by John's forecast anything can happen at this point. But maybe by end of next week we will be finally be able to do a little southern riding.

Ryan-appreciate the work you put in and you should be rewarded. I too am bummed, hauled the Ski Doos back from ER to sit in garage. But it is only mid January. I have a feeling we will get trails open down here and have a few weeks of riding. Hoping so anyway...

The weatherman in Chicago showed snow on Tuesday for Southern Wisc. Since all they care about is Chicago, they didn't go into detail.

We'll the snow that we did have is pritty much gone in all the fields. So at this point we'll be starting from scratch. I don't see much hope in the 10 day. Could change but the pattern were in just sucks. I don't remember going through a winter where the trails never opened. Anyone remember a year they didn't?

Winter of 2011/2012 if I remember the trails were open for 1 day all year. I would love snow at home to take some pressure off the nirthwoods. It was a zoo up there this week . but happy to be riding at least.

I will be hopeful for the month of February I guess. I would love to know what has happened to all the big storms we used to get. It has been quite a few years since we have gotten completely dumped on. Sure would be nice to see a snowfall in the 10+ inch range for a change. Doesn't look like that is the case for the coming week at least though. As mentioned above we are pretty much starting over. Only snow you can see now is where we had big drifts from all the blowing around we had last two weeks.

Just a quick update here. Still having hopes for the trails to open some time soon. Weather forecast isn't the greatest but I am optimistic...maybe by February! Anyways woke up this morning to maybe a trace of snow in East Troy. When I arrived at work in Waukesha county in Eagle there was a fresh 2-3" of snow that fell. This caught everyone by surprise I guess. Looks like we will get a couple inches maybe tonight and tomorrow. If Eagle and Mukwonago area get this snow as well I could see there trails opening back up. But I know in Walworth we are long ways away. I will report back if we get anything decent.

Just a reminder my snowmobile club is hosting their brat bash this weekend Saturday January 24th from 12pm-5pm at the Eagle Springs pub on Eagle Springs lake. It is right on the Walworth/ Waukesha county line. I don't know if the trails will open but either way the fundraiser will continue. We will have meat raffles, hourly prizes/ door prizes, and food and drink. Please come and support one of our local clubs if you can!

Thank you,

RS

Yeah I saw the updated forecast this morning. looks like we might as well forget that idea. Sounds like next week we might turn colder again. Hopefully. Oh well time to put studs in my new sled before the next ride.

At this rate you can install 1 pick a day and be fine. I keep believing we will see winter in these parts but...trying to stay positive.

LOL one pick per day is about right! No kidding at all! I could have started January 1 and be about 1/3rd of the way done and still waiting for snow here.

What a difference a year makes, last year we had a crazy amount of posts and views due to SE Wisco being excellent. One 20 mile ride around Twin Lakes has been the extent this year (bout broke a tooth on the chisel plowed fields). UP is the only real ticket this year thus far! Back up next weekend.

Picked up a surprising inch or little more over night. Too bad that will melt before the weekend. Thanks for those of you that were able to come out to our brat bash at Eagle Springs Pub over the weekend. It was a successful event for the club overall. Would have been better if there was snow on the ground so we could get some snowmobilers but oh well.

I am starting to like the looks of John's forecast for the start of February. Looks like Feb. 1st-2nd we have a decent shot at getting some decent snow. Let's hope this can get us going for the month of February. Heading north this weekend despite the conditions to have a little time on the sled. Will report back on the area when I get back. Let's hope the forecast plans out for us. If only we could move the east coast storm to the Midwest we would be in business!
