Again I agree with you Lenny can't go wrong with Kip & Chad & why I bring my buds to them to buy sleds & other stuff. Pat's & M&M the best dealers I have done biz with & why I refer biz to them ....they care & are willing to work for the biz! So far all sales & service has been excellent with them for 7 years now & that makes it easy to introduce my buds to them with high recomandations.:)

So, it appears we've nailed down the real "brand loyal" issue. Convenience, relationships, service, friendships and convenience.

Story on my Dragon.
Before I bought it, it was serviced at Headwaters Polaris. Oil injectors were set too high (according to "specs") so they adjusted them. This was at around 1,000 miles, after the rebuild service bulletin was completed. I figured that couldn't be a bad thing.
Wish they would have left it alone. Who knows? Perhaps it came from the factory like that for a reason. How many others got the rebuild and were tuned to lean out instead of left alone because the engineers overanalyzed the ratios and miscalculated the settings to save face on oil consumption complaints?
Nobody will ever know but it sure ran great while it lasted.

I think you need to keep all brand dealer relationships in the acceptable range. As Greg said sooner or later 1brand will have a better mousetrap that you have to have & you make the switch. If a dealer does not give you good sales treatment when you are shopping they will never get the order or after sales service. Took me a while to figure out which are the good dealers brandwise when I moved here 10 years ago & when you talk to other sledders a service pattern sets in that included me as I give them all a chance to compete for my biz. Does not take long to eliminate players you just don't feel comfortable with.

I'm almost positive it was a 2013 as he got over 5k miles on it this year before it went down and he put on more than that this past winter.

so that's 2 for sure 800 poo motors got went blewy just from guys that I know. When we were riding in the Big Horns last March the shop at the Big bear lodge was selling their pro rmk's. My bud Brad needed a part straightened and welded and while we were there they had a blown up 800 that was waiting to get fixed. We actually talked to the guys there about 800 issues and tey acted as they didn't know any thing about a problem. Maybe they chalk it up to "rental"

So that makes 3 actually, not saying they still are a pile by any means but not sure how to interpret the info and what factors were involved to determine why.

watching the RMK myself for last few years and I more apt to ask what has been done to the motor? if they are burning down in 12 and 13 there is always a story about turbo, heads and pipe ect dont hear of stock sled melting down in 12

800 etec XM Lenny, and your Golden! :) (Just sit and watch all the "know how's") that will knock on it, and say otherwise. In all honesty, No matter what u go with, there's always going to be that select few that have something go wrong sooner than later.

View Poll Results: How Reliable is your 2011-12 Pro RMK?
Engine Failure: piston(rings/skirt) 41 4.90%
Engine Failure: cylinder(port/skirt) 46 5.50%
Engine Failure: crank (bearing/pin/throw) 40 4.78%
No Major Failure 0 to 1000miles 378 45.16%
No Major Failure 1000 to 2500 miles 253 30.23%
no Major Failure 2500+ miles 79 9.44%

Not sure how many are 2011's and how many are 2012's but sounds like mostly early 11's.
I am in the no failure bracket that is not offered. looks like a 15% motor issue. That is to high for sure but the 85% group are as happy as all get out!

so help me to interpret this particular stat:

No Major Failure 0 to 1000miles 378 45.16%

Does this mean that out of 378 pollsters, 45.16 didn't have a major problem?
